New Recordings not showing in "What's New"
Posted by: Steve Barnes - 2014-01-17, 10:32 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

And that's not all.
Re-installed after accumulating "bugs" after years of, almost, faultless use, updating and patching as new versions appeared.

Now I have several problems.
New Recordings not showing in "What's New"
Shows crashing NPVR as soon as they start.
Have done
.Net 4 installed and validated
complete uninstall, deleted folders.
ripped out remaining hair
Thrown things
Shouted at dog.

HEEELLLLP!

ETA.
I feel stupid now. The recordings were not showing because I overlooked the obvious. Sorted by Date instead of Date Descending. However, the crashing is a bit of a problem.

  XP playback problem
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2014-01-17, 10:27 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I abandoned XP for Vista for my server and clients about two years ago and this removed several annoying problems. Unfortunately Intel does not produce a Vista video driver for my new Celeron nettop client so have had to revert to XP as I don’t have a Windows 7 license.

XP seems to work reliably most of the time apart from certain programmes which cause the video to freeze although the sound continues. What causes the problem is a still image such as a photo, map or text on screen for a few seconds. I watched a news quiz last night which was especially bad locking up every minute or so when there was a full screen photo or image from a newspaper. Its similar to a problem I previously reported which disappeared when I moved to Vista which was then caused by some images at the start of commercial breaks.

  Enhanced status window request (again)
Posted by: Spark - 2014-01-17, 04:48 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

This was brought up before, but, I still think the status window should show more information.
It could have a configuration option, for people that don't want/need the info.

What is missing is the resolution of current recording, and Mb/sec.

Npvr still has issues thinking it is recording something, when it isn't, or in other words, a 0 byte file.

It doesn't look like that information is made available, so I could write a plugin with that info...

Also, would be nice if there was a way to configure the output file that npvr uses, like adding the channel name to the recording...

  Trouble with sound
Posted by: fshgrind - 2014-01-17, 03:24 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (24)

Hello, I am a total newb, so I apologize in advance. Set up an htpc about 5 years ago and now want to upgrade using NextPVR.

Hardware
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

OS:
Fresh install of Windows XP Service Pack 3 + all updates

I am using the onboard hdmi for video and sound. I am using the latest NextPVR version. I am using SAF 6.2.2 unlocked. I have a regular antenna getting atsc signals through my pvr card. I get great video, but no go on sound. same thing with dvd plugin in NextPVR. I get video but no sound. I'm using LAV for everything. I do get sound when I am not using NextPVR.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

XBMC crashes when NPVR claims tuner for recording
Posted by: jonathan.holvey - 2014-01-16, 11:16 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (7)

Hi,

I'm having a problem which occurs when a recording timer is triggered while live TV is tuned to a different frequency.
The tuner card I'm using is a TBS6981, which has dual DVB-S2 satellite tuners, although only one is connected and available for use at the moment. If the tuner is being used to watch TV when NPVR starts recording a channel on a different frequency, then the video in XBMC will freeze. Upon attempting to stop playback the XBMC UI becomes unresponsive and the process must be restarted.

Is this a common problem or is it specific to my setup? This is the first time I've experienced it because in the past I have only set recordings while XBMC has been idle. It is, however, easily reproducible and I always get the same result when the conflict occurs.

I'm running XBMC version 12.3, NPVR version 3.1.1 and addon version 1.6.5.

Cheers,
Jon

I've also posted this at the NPVR sub-forum at xbmc.org, but I haven't had any replies there. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=182019

NPVR settings GUI access via remote desktop
Posted by: jonathan.holvey - 2014-01-16, 11:06 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Hi,

I run XBMC as a front end for live TV, with a centralised NPVR server providing all the behind-the-scenes stuff. I usually only use the NPVR GUI to configure the tuner settings, and I like to do this via remote desktop (RDP) to avoid disruption to XBMC running on the server PC.

Since installing version 3.1.1 of NPVR I've been unable to start NPVR in a RDP session. After a while the window will show up, but it's empty and stops responding when I try to interact with it. Perhaps someone could try to replicate this to make sure it's not unique to my system?

Also, is there a way of running NPVR so that it only displays the settings dialog? A command line switch perhaps?

Cheers,
Jon

  MB4 new install, can't scan
Posted by: Jaggy - 2014-01-16, 10:06 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (5)

Boy oh boy this new clean install on the server isn't going all that smoothly......

I have install a clean new copy of MB4 straight off the wiki download & for the life of me I can't get it to scan, on the last attempt (logs attached) I just went into setup, didn't alter the collections from what it picked up from my NextPVR Music setup & then tried to do a scan.... which it didn't do Sad

I know that this version does work overall as it's the same download that I'm using on my test rig, but on that PC I did the install & then copied in my existing data from my XP setup.... but I can't do that on the server as it doesn't have an E: drive in it...

Win Server 2012 R2 - HD Home Run not scanning channels
Posted by: phaselocd - 2014-01-16, 09:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Just setup a new windows 2012 R2 server and when I go to scan the channels in, the dialog box appears but scanning does not start, it just sit's there doing nothing.
This is what I have done so far:

- updated my HDHR to latest FW / SW
- installed the NextPVR patch set
- confirmed I can watch live TV using VLC player under "quickview" in HDHR setup
- disabled firewall completely
- added in firewall exceptions anyway
- tried to switch the application type in the HDHR setup
- some of the application requirements I was simply not able to install, it was not possible to install the old version .net for example
- made sure "client" was not checked
- I don't have all the codecs installed yet, is it possible that would not allow channel scanning ?

At this point I'm out of things to try, hoping I can get this resolved with forum members help.

  System + CoreTemp + NMT
Posted by: Jaggy - 2014-01-16, 06:58 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (1)

I have been busy converting over from XP to Win7 (64) on both my test rig & main server....

Yesterday I noticed that I no longer get the cpu temp showing on the NMT display but it shows fine in System when viewed on the PC... I'm not sure when it stopped displaying ie. with the upgrade to net4 with 3.1.1 or just when I went win7.... I can (with some mucking around) fire back into my xp 3.1.1 install if necessary to see what it displays on the NMT if that would help find out where the problem lies.

  Runtime Error - System.Data.SqLite.dll (XMLTvExtras.exe)
Posted by: GoogleRocks! - 2014-01-16, 06:46 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (7)

I'm running NPVR 3.1.1 R1a in a Windows 8.1 64 bit environment.

MS VS C++ Runtimes are installed - both 32 & 64 bit for 2008, 2010 and 2012 Redistributable packages.

The main mc2xml.exe file runs without issues, however the XmltvExtras.exe silently fails due to:

"This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded, exiting"

Help is always appreciated...

EDIT: System.Data.SqLite.dll Version is 1.0.85.0 (4/17/2013)
EDIT: XmltvExtras.exe Version is 3.1.2.16688 - mc2xml.exe Version is 1.2.0.0
