Live TV - How to change mpeg2 to h264 on fly?
Posted by: schwally - 2013-12-20, 05:03 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Is there a way to set up NextPVR to stream my incoming mpeg2 (from tv station/tower) instantly to h264 so I can play it on a different device without stutter? I want to send it to a device that supports h264 playback in hardware, but struggles with software decoding of mpeg2. (I hope that makes sense.)

where does the frequency information for each country come from?
Posted by: hyperactive - 2013-12-20, 01:25 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi there.
I am rather curious, how do you obtain the information that goes into each .ini file contained in the folder c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\Tuning\DVB-T?
Thanks.

Problem importing recordings xml file from vidimport.
Posted by: martint123 - 2013-12-19, 09:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I'm trying to make the change from gbpvr to npvr as the main system, changing PCs and moving from XP to W7 (sigh).

I have copied all my old recordings across, set up a few channels to prove things work and am trying to import the recordings to the database using vidimport.
I use this successfully on yet another server (low power, always on + nas and other servers) to import downloaded shows.

log attached along with an import file of one recording. The failing seems to be this on each recording. I don't have the knowledge to know if this is a vidimport problem or npvr.
Any help appreciated,

Martin

UK - xmltv.exe now included atlas metabroadcast
Posted by: martint123 - 2013-12-19, 12:55 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

An email popped out of the woodwork with a mention that a compiled windows binary EPG grabber is updated to include the metabroadcast atlas data. (these are the folk who took over the generation of Radio Times data.
You need an API key to get the data, but this is freely available via email on request (supposedly one day to become a web based request). My key hasn't turned up yet, but hopefully it will not be too much trouble getting the data into npvr.
exe download of the current alpha xmltv.exe Http://alpha-exe.xmltv.org
some info and how to get an API key http://metabroadcast.com/blog/getting-fu...-it-s-easy

Initial configuration is a little tedious with yes/no needed for each channel.

fingers crossed that this will easily replace the slowly shrinking radio times data.

Three instances of NDigitalHost running = sleep problem?
Posted by: liteswap - 2013-12-19, 09:07 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Been trying to track down why the PVR won't sleep following the update to 3.1.1 and am getting desperate. I have three instances of NDigitalHost.exe running. Is this correct? Can this be causing the sleep problem?

  Roxio Game Capture Hd Pro?
Posted by: Milardo - 2013-12-19, 03:18 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi, would a roxio game capture hd pro work in nextpvr? I don't really like the roxio software, and as of right now, there is no free software which supports this usb2.0 capture card. I use it with a special hdmi splitter to capture from my streaming media player. Thanks for any good replies, also, if not supported, can support be added for it.

  XBMC Genre Colouring
Posted by: MR.K - 2013-12-18, 08:43 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (36)

Is the Genre colouring suppose to work out of the "box" in XBMC when changing/adding them in NextPVR?

I have the colouring working in NextPVR's TV Guide but they wont show up in XBMC, is there as setting or change I have to do? I use NextPVR 3.1.1 and NextPVR PVR Client 1.9.5 in XBMC, thanks in advance and thanks for all the work from everyone involved, great program.

  no tv signal - apparently
Posted by: JohnyMedia - 2013-12-18, 06:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

I have been getting more and more problems with the tv signal - apparently. Started with programs breaking up then halting altogether, say 20-30 mins into a recording. Also, time remaining getting very confused (like showing 16 hours or something). Then, a reluctance to even tune to certain channels. In the end, I phoned freeview who said that work was being carried out on the crystal palace transmitter - you may remember my previous post a few weeks back.

Anyway, the situation is now that I get no tv signal, and BDA scanner confirms this - it simpy says "nothing found" for all frequencies.

So, I went fault finding today, fully expecting this to be a hard ware fault ie aerial, distro amp etc. But I hooked the laptop up with its usb tuner, and low and behold it found everything with 100% signal and 100% quality (save on an upper frequency band mux, that I don't think I'm using, just copies of the same channels). So now I am puzzled. Presumably a software fault with drivers or something, in the media centre (runs xbmc with two Avermedia tuners).

I'm guessing that originally, there was some trouble due to the Crystal Palace works, but now it must have morphed into an entirely different fault?

If anyone can suggest what to try next, that would be great!

PS: Win XP, and device manager reports that both devices (tv cards) are working properly.

Hmmm... I just gave up for today, plugged everything back in and I got bbc1 so tried a bda scan, it stops to look at certain frequencies, but sais "scan timed out" so I'm guessing the signal is there but bad? Maybe the usb tuner on the laptop is just loads better?

Channel numbers messed up by HD mux
Posted by: jpsa - 2013-12-18, 04:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

There have been some changes to channels recently, so I deleted all the channels and performed a rescan. All the expected channels were found, but most (perhaps all) of them had the wrong channel numbers. I did this scan three or four times, at different times of day, and the behaviour was consistent.

I noticed that the mux containing the HD channels was scanned first, and that those HD channels had been allocated the first few channel numbers (where SD channels ought to be). So I generated a modified tuning config file which omitted the HD mux, and did a rescan using it. Now all the channel numbers are as expected.

Is NextPVR failing to pick up the channel numbers from HD channels properly?

Logs from scans both with and without the HD mux are attached. I'm using 3.1.1 with the R1a patches.

  Donate, please?
Posted by: kayleigh - 2013-12-18, 06:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

As a user over the last 8 years or so, I've tried to make an annual donation. The big-spending Holiday seems to be my time.

I've tried to donate what I can, when I can, as NZ$ to US$ conversion rates allow my material contributions to be valuable. (My minimally-valuable community contributions can be debated amongst yourselves.)

Sub works hard on this labour of love, and the other developers who contribute don't go unnoticed. The support for a 'free' program has always been amazing! I use nPVR daily, and it's my small bit to give back.

Please join me as you're able to give back, too, in your own time and financial ability.
