  Ready Recordings Gone
Posted by: z06racer66 - 2013-11-07, 02:53 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

So recently I had a hard drive failing where the NPVR recordings were going to. So, I backed up what I could and then adjusted NPVR to record to a different location. I since installed a new hard drive and restored the recordings. However, to my surprise, NPVR no longer has any of the past recordings listed in the Ready Recordings (roughly 50 recordings, including full seasons, are missing in the list) even though I restored the files to the new hard drive.

What happened and how do I get my Ready Recordings back the way it used to be? Does NPVR do an auto "smart" cleanup of files that it can no longer find?

Time Warner doing the channel shuffle AGAIN
Posted by: smajor - 2013-11-06, 10:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

For the 2nd time in less than 6 months, Time Warner is rearranging every. single. one. of our channels. Again.

Channel names are untouched, numbers will be different.

Last time, I figured it was a good time to just clean out and start over and enter re-occurring recordings as they were broadcast and the family had interest in watching them.

Is there anyway to edit the recurringbackup.xml after the change to re-import with the new channel numbers or is that just more trouble than it's worth?

  Channel Scanning not showing CATV
Posted by: Rickt1962 - 2013-11-06, 05:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (45)

Im not sure where to post this Sad maybe someone here could help me Smile

The problem is I have 2 tuners in my PC a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 and ViXs PureTV-V-48

I have a Channel Plus 5545 Modulator with 4 outputs to CATV channels I have channel 44 and 55 with Video cameras on it and they show up on my house antenna cable and when I use my digital TV scan I get all the Digital OTA channels plus the 2 CATV channels on my TV's but on my PC with these 2 tuners cards with NextPVR the CATV 44 and 55 does not show up after scanning Sad It would be nice when watching TV to use PIP to have security cameras working.

Has anyone tried using this setup ? what do I need to do ?

nPVR sleep or hibernate - best way?
Posted by: softfoot - 2013-11-06, 01:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I used to use GBPVR and it seemed to automatically hibernate at the end of a recording (assuming there wasn't one following on).
In reality, this was a bit of a pain because it would shutdown while I was watching a recording via the web interface.

Does nPVR have an internal hibernate function in the same way? or is it up to the user to tell the machine to hibernate when idle?

I have used a screen saver called "Hibernator" that will hibernate only when the CPU/DISK/NETWORK activity drops below a certain level .. just wondering if that may be the best way forward.

Shaw Satellite and recording from HDMI port
Posted by: SFX Group - 2013-11-06, 03:06 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Has anyone recorded from the HDMI port on the Shaw Satellite receivers? (meaning have Shaw digitally protected all items comming out the HDMI or just the movies (as the industry said they should)?)

I dont want to record movies, however i would like to record other items like History channel and National Geographic, prefer not to have to use the Composite if possible (i have the small receiver with 1 HDMI and Composite output).

I am planning on use the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 (which will do HDMI).

Hauppauge Remote doesn't work after sleep
Posted by: Amused - 2013-11-05, 06:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hi
I've built a new HTPC running Windows 7 with NPVR (or course Smile )and I have an odd issue. I'm using a standard Hauppauge remote which came with the Nova-TD Stick tuner and it's great... until Windows goes to sleep. After waking up (the remote doesn't wake the machine btw) the remote does nothing. nadda. not a sausage. Reboot the machine and it's fine again. Since the HTPC is intended to be on all the time and sleep when not needed this is an issue.

Anyone got any ideas why the remote works fine after a restart but is non-functional after waking from sleep?

Issues after upgrading from 2.6.2 to 3.1.1
Posted by: DanGilbertTX - 2013-11-05, 05:41 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

After upgrading I am having issues with recordings. The mediainfo is saying the stream is "Encrypted". However, there is video (albeit 4:3 instead of 16:9) and sometimes no video, just audio. This NEVER happened prior to the update. It is also not consistent. It doesn't happen on most recordings. They are just fine including having a normal mediainfo. Also, my channels are NOT encrypted.

Mediainfo:
Video
ID : 1984 (0x7C0)
Menu ID : 752 (0x2F0)
Format : MPEG Video
Codec ID : 2
Bit rate : 4 639 Kbps
Compression mode : Lossy
Encryption : Encrypted

System:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
HDHomerunPrime CableCard device
NPVR 3.1.1 (upgraded from 2.6.2)

Just wondering if anyone has seen this yet? Also, is there a good way to completely uninstall NPVR and install 2.6.2 without losing my channel config or recurring recordings? I can put everything else back in.

HD HomeRun Prime - $105 shipped, US only, TODAY only.
Posted by: HarryH3 - 2013-11-05, 02:08 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Thought this might be of interest to a few NPVR users:

Woot has the HDHR Prime for $99.99 plus $5 shipping in the US. It's a one-day-only sale.

Perhaps this means that the long-awaited 4-tuner model is finally about ready for release?!?!?

OTA2XML (DbvGuide) XML version problem ??
Posted by: softfoot - 2013-11-05, 11:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong forum for this, but I couldn't find anything more appropriate.

I am running the latest version of nPVR + all the dependencies and it seems to be working OK :-)

However, when setting up the EPG I ran into a problem with dbvguide - I use the Freesat EPG batch file and it runs OK but when I try to import it nPVR complains that it is "miss formatted".

When I try to view it under windows it complains about the xml version number.

dbvguide seems to generate the XML file with version 1.1.

Editing the file and changing it to 1.0 makes it all work.

Is this a short-coming of my Windows XP +SP3 setup ?? a problem with nPVR ?? or dbvguide ??

I don't really want to edit the file each time, though I guess I could use SED.

Is there a better solution??

TIA
Dave

  XBMC & Genre
Posted by: smajor - 2013-11-04, 11:16 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (25)

Could someone explain XBMC's Genre feature and how it ties into NPVR? I've seen bits and pieces in threads here (and over at the XBMC forums) but not a real what to do.

I've messed around with it - what I think was the 1.8.5 version of the NextPVR plugin on the Margo build of Frodo months ago. Recently, using Martin's version with Gotham while testing it from another thread here. I never got it to work.

My Genre works on NPVR.
My Genre works on XNEWA.

I've gathered, I think, the xbmc-genre-translation.xml needs to be placed in the "XMBC data directory", but I'm not sure exactly where that would be.

Loose in the .../AppData/Roaming/XBMC directory?

...XBMC/userdata/addon_data/pvr.nextpvr?

Somewhere else?

I've blindly tried to guess, and either it isn't working or I'm just dropping it in the wrong place.

I've attached my xbmc-genre-translation.xml in case anyone wanted to take a look at that for something broken.

Thanks!
