  blast zero before channel number?
Posted by: Torque - 2013-11-04, 10:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I thought I remembered an option to transmit a zero before the channel number and other IR blaster options, but I can't seem to find them. I'm having trouble with a lot of missed recordings because my Dish box misses the 1st number in the channel if the channel is more than 2 digits. For example, if it's supposed to record channel 172, the Dish box misses the 1 and ultimately records channel 72. I checked the recording service log and verified it blasted 172. I'm using the USB-UIRT executable and nothing has changed with the Dishreceiver.dat file. I haven't upgraded to the lastest version yet. This issue started when I upgraded quite a few months ago to the version from April(?) of this year. Changing the channel number in the channel setup to 0172 doesn't work. What is weird is it never happens when switching channels while watching live tv.

Are there still options to tweak the blaster?

Thanks

  FlowPlayer 5 Video tab
Posted by: kricker - 2013-11-04, 10:02 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (4)

I just can't get that tab to go away. I've disabled it in the config screen, but it never goes away and the checkbox for it re-enables itself when I refresh the config page. Is there a file I can hand edit to remove it?

  Streaming not working
Posted by: WKleeven - 2013-11-04, 09:52 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (19)

I don't know why, but 3 months ago NEWA (and everything else) worked perfectly but now NEWA can't stream anymore (it can play and download, and live tv works too).

I tried to stream, vlc opens but stays black. The file stream.asx contains "http://192.168.2.1:443" (which is correct).
When I seperately open vlc and enter this to play this stream, nothing happens too. So it looks like nothing is streamed indeed.
One other strange thing, is that when I try to logout, I don't really get logged out.

Logs attached.

Wim

p.s. I tried nDroid and that doesn't stream too. Same problem?

recording starting too soon over network at startup?
Posted by: ub435-q v2 - 2013-11-04, 08:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I'm using an HDHomeRun HDHR3-US tuner for QAM recording with nPVR 2.5.9. It is functioning fine with nPVR under normal use. However, I am having an issue when resuming a scheduled recording after a power failure (or restarting the PC too close to the start of a new recording). What happens is that the recording service starts the recording before (I assume) the network has fully initialized, so the tuner doesn't actually get called upon to record (no recording light on the device). NPVR acts like it is recording though (which ends with a zero byte file). If I catch this and restart the recording service, a new file begins that actually records from the device. I'm using this in Windows 7sp1 connected directly to a PCI ethernet card (using the onboard NIC for router/internet). I have an ASUS PCIe tuner that doesn't have this problem, and that's why I assume it's the network taking longer to initialize than the recording service.

Is there a way for me to delay this start of the recording so that the network has time to fully initialize before the recording service tries to start recording, or is there some other way? Thank you.

  Virtual server for NPVR
Posted by: trummel - 2013-11-04, 03:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Sorry if this is dumb/asked before type question, but does anyone have any experience of running NPVR on a virtual server. I'm pretty sure it wont run on Hyper-v, because of the HAL rules governing USB and PCI devices. However ISTR that ESXi can support some physical hardware. I don't want to spend hours setting it up just to find that someone else has already found it to be a dead end.

I currently have 3 fairly serious servers running different home automation type systems. Any one of them is powerful enough to run all of the applications, but they all require different operating systems. If I can VM them, it would be really nice.

I don't require to be able to watch anything on the NPVR server, as I do that all on the clients. The server is stuffed away in the comms room (cupboard in loft).

stop scanning without closing scan dialog
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2013-11-04, 03:58 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Can you make it so that clicking "Cancel" during a channel scan just stops the scan, but doesn't close the scanning dialog? I'd like to be able to let the scan run until it finds the channel(s) I want, then stop it and enable the needed channels. Not urgent.

Compressing OTA (ATSC) Live TV using h.264?
Posted by: securitnick - 2013-11-04, 02:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

So I am a virtual cord cutter meaning I just cancelled satellite. I've got a Windows 7 machine running XBMC and using NPVR for the PVR backend. I have a Happauge 2250 capture card receiving OTA channels. Everything is working pretty nicely (except I can't get a remote working for the life of me...but that's another post). My question is if anyone knows of a way to use h.264 compression to when recording? It's my understanding that by default, it is broadcast using MPEG2, but this leads to very large files. I have a 3TB drive for storage and the other day about 1/3 of it was used up from my live TV buffer. So I'd like to figure out a way to compress it using h.264. Any ideas?

Looking for recommendations for a dual tuner card. Internal or USB is fine. Would like to find something for $50 or less. Thanks!

  Touch and http audio url's

I'm trying to send an audio http url via PluginHelperFactory.GetPluginHelper().PlayMusicFile from a touch client but it starts to build an activity but it never sends the activity likely because the host tries to play it
