nDroid (TE) Beta Testers Google Group
Posted by: bgowland - 2013-06-22, 10:24 PM - Forum: nDroid - No Replies

Google recently added a feature to the Android Developers console which allows publishing pre-release versions of apps in parallel to public releases. Admittedly nDroid TE is very much Beta code (albeit in public Beta) but it would be useful to have a small-ish group of volunteers to help test things between public releases.

How it works...

I've published a test version on Google Play and associated it with the nDroid (TE) Beta Testers Google Group. Only the members of that group who choose to opt-in to testing will be able to see / install the test version from the Play Store, everybody else will continue to see the current public release.

Who / What I need...

  • People who are prepared to commit a small amount of time when I upload pre-release versions. That might be once or twice a week or every other week.
  • Suggestions, feedback, bug/crash reports. Comments on what does/doesn't work, what you like, what you don't like.

How to participate...

  1. Go to the nDroid (TE) Beta Testers group
  2. If you're not already signed in to your Google account then do so then request to join the group. Membership is restricted so I'll need to approve the request.
  3. Once approved, go to the group and follow the link in the first post which will take you to a page where you can opt-in as a tester.

Cheers,
Brian

  nDroid v1.9.0 uploaded
Posted by: bgowland - 2013-06-22, 05:27 AM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (5)

This is possibly the last version of nDroid v1.x I'll upload as I'm concentrating on nDroid (TE) for both tablets and phones from now on.

Changes:

  • Fixed bug which meant Recordings deleted at the npvr server weren't removed from the app database after a daily update.

Cheers,
Brian

nDroid (TE) v2.0.5 - now supports phones (BETA)
Posted by: bgowland - 2013-06-22, 04:58 AM - Forum: nDroid - No Replies

I've uploaded v2.0.5 of nDroid (TE) to Google Play.

Changes...

  • Basic support for "normal" screens as well as "large" and "x-large". Screen sizes are generic in Android and "normal" size should (in theory) now cover most phone screens with "large" and "x-large" for tablets. PLEASE NOTE: This is still very basic and various things won't work - at this stage I'm just looking for feedback / bug reports etc.
  • Fixed bug where Recordings deleted at the npvr server still showed after a daily update.
  • Removed header bars from Media views.
  • Added some animation bling when switching view pages (may depend on device and Android version).
  • Various bug fixes

Phone support

Due to smaller screen sizes, changing "views" (TV Guide, Recordings etc) is done using a Navigation Drawer which slides in from the left side of the screen. This can be done using either a swipe from the far left of the screen or by touching the nDroid (TE) icon at the top left. Selecting an option will close the drawer automatically or a right-to-left swipe will also close it.

As with the previous Tablet Edition, it's possible to swipe between pages in each view, e.g., Seven Day <-> Now/Next <-> All Timeslots. On phones the pages can also be selected directly from the drop-down list at the top of the screen.

NOTE: nDroid (TE) is a completely separate app from nDroid v1.x and can be installed at the same time. They maintain their own databases and settings but require the same username/password, server address, ports etc.

Cheers,
Brian

NPVR vs XBMC playback, XBMC does better, why?
Posted by: Wakalaka - 2013-06-21, 01:00 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (17)

I have NextPVR 2.6.2 and XBMC 12.2 installed. I set up a menu item in NPVR to run a batch file that exits NPVR, runs XBMC, then rerun NPVR when user exits XBMC. Why? I have a lot of recordings that don't play in NPVR, but play fine in XBMC. I'm wondering if it's a NPVR codec issue. Does anyone have any experience with this?

  Add Country and Frequencies
Posted by: aristosv - 2013-06-21, 05:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

I am using NextPVR v2.6.2

After following the instructions here, I have added an analog device Cinergy HTC USB XS HD (It's actually Hybrid, but the analog entry did not appear, so I followed the guide and now it appears)

My problem now, is that when I try to scan for analog channels, my country Cyprus, is not listed. So I guess the frequencies are not there, so the program does not find any channels.

Is there a way to add my country, so the program can find the channels when I scan?

Thanks.

  ImageGrabLite Read Error
Posted by: ttfitz - 2013-06-20, 11:43 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (2)

Had a double episode recently that did not rename, found in the log file there was a Read Error. It seemed to be getting there, so don't know what might have happened.

Log is attached.

Thanks.

  Freezes when changing channels
Posted by: thisisnotdave - 2013-06-20, 10:53 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi, I've just set up NPVR on a Windows 7 box using a Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB tuner.

Everything seems to be working except it will often (but not always) freeze after a second or two when I change channels. Usually going up a channel and back will or exiting out of the live tv view and going back in resolves it.

Here are my NPVR and SageDCT logs.

Thanks in advance!!

  Glitch With Copy Device Settings
Posted by: smajor - 2013-06-20, 09:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

...I think.

Today Time Warner reordered their entire guide. To straighten things out, I deleted all channels from my two HD-PVRs are imported the new channel guide.

When I did the second HD-PVR, as usual, NextPVR noted I had an identical one already configured and offered to copy the settings. I've done this before in previous versions.

Up until now, as expected.

My next step was usually to go into the HD-PVR #2 and change the channelchanger.exe to channelchanger2.exe which naturally changes the proper HD-PVR's channel based on the tuner being used.

HD-PVR1 works great.

HD-PVR2 doesn't change the channel. It doesn't even look like it's attempting to call the exe.

I've set them up separately as a test (which includes the headache of merging same channels) and things work as expected.

Ideas? Bug? Feature?

EDIT: just noted the "Auto Merge Channels with the Same Name." Oh, happy day!

  Can not find xmltv.dtd file
Posted by: Randykc - 2013-06-20, 05:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I've been running NPVR for a few months now with no problems until last night when I noticed a program that should be recording wasn't. When I opened NPVR to investigate, I noticed that my guide was empty. I went back through the mc2xml installation instructions to refresh my memory on how I set it up originally which took me to the mc2xml directory. I viewed the TVGuide.xml file and it looks like it updated successfully because it was showing shows out to 7 days in the future. So then I opened the NPVR Settings page, selected Channels, selected my HDHomeRun tuner, and chose the Import button. After that, I saw the following error - Unexpected error importing channels: Could not find file 'D:\mc2xml\xmltv.dtd' I don't ever recall a dtd file being one of the files mc2xml created. Any suggestions?

HVR-1800, Analog Hauppaugew WinTV 885 Video Capture vs Tuner/Demod?
Posted by: notso99 - 2013-06-20, 01:02 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I purchased an HVR-1800 with no FM from ebay to copy family video from Beta VCR to digital. I got hooked on nextPVR and forgot about my video project. Now I have the old beta vcrs working (another story) but nPVR does not capture the audio. I searched these forums and found discussions about analog audio and AC3 decoders so installed AC3Filter for AC3 audio decoder. (sidebar, should e-AC3 be set to AC3Filter also for analog?)

Then I saw settings>devices with "Analog Hauppaugew WinTV 885 Video Capture" where the ATSC and QAM say ... Tuner/Demod. Is my lack of audio from analog because my cheapo HVR-1800 with no FM does not have all the hardware for audio? Beta vcr works ok with tv. (sidebar: ATSC from antennae works great and nPVR is awesome.)

If my HVR-1800 has no analog audio then is it possible to use line-in for nPVR?

Your thoughts appreciated.

Regards,
Phil
