  Media Scrapers for Videos?
Posted by: smajor - 2012-10-22, 10:19 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Folks,

What are you all using for scraping data for your Videos section? I have a ton of DVDs and TV Series that I've ripped from my media.

I've been using Ember Media Manager, which was briefly dead, then came back, paused, and now being developed again. Smile I'm fairly happy with it, but it had some quirks with my NAS... sometimes episodes/movies say "no data found for this..." when it had correctly scraped them AND the data is in the directory! Moving the file to a local drive makes everything better. Odd.

Anyway, I'm always on the look out for something better that may have come along. Is there anything that respects the file type "bling" that NextPVR makes use of?

  H264 playback choppy
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2012-10-22, 08:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Hi, I can't seem to find a working combo to playback some h264 / ac3 / mkv files I have through NPVR.

I'm watching via a client over a wired network.
Decoder options available to me under the H264 decoder drop down are LAV, Microsoft, ATI and ffdshow.

Video renderer is set to EVR.

All the decoders I've tried are extremely choppy and slow and completely unwatchable, and I can hear the PC fan step up a gear as the PC churns away.

VLC seems to play back the same files with out breaking into a sweat.

Any ideas?

  System Plugin - Shell functions
Posted by: whurlston - 2012-10-22, 03:29 PM - Forum: Test Sub Forum - Replies (5)

I've been working on an extention of imilne's System plugin that add the ability to run NextPVR as a shell, replacing explorer.exe. Here is a pre-release build if anyone would like to test it.

Changelog:

  1. Adds "Logoff" to the power options popup.
  2. Adds a new settings tab: "Shell Functions".
  3. Adds the ability to replace explorer.exe shell with NextPVR.exe
  4. Adds the ability to logoff the current user automatically when you exit NextPVR (does not need to be running as shell).
  5. Adds the ability to run additional apps at startup when running as a shell.

All shell settings are per-user, so you can have one login that runs NextPVR as the shell and another user that runs the standard desktop (explorer.exe)

To run as shell for a user, log in to Windows as that user name and go to the System plugin settings and set them accordingly.

When running NextPVR as a shell, programs located in the Windows Start Menu's Startup folder and in the registry's Run location will not be launched. So if you need an additional program (like EventGhost) in the background, add it to the "Startup Apps" section in settings.

When NextPVR is set to run as the shell, "Logoff on exit" will automatically be enabled.

Testing has only been done on Win7 x64 at the moment.

Known issues:
  1. Startup apps can only be added in the settings screen at the moment. They cannot be removed, edited or reordered. You can edit/delete/reorder by editing the System.xml file manually.

Problem with SchedulesDirect. Can someone test a channel for me?
Posted by: dvasco - 2012-10-22, 05:23 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I have a problem with SchedulesDirect and I am trying to isolate the cause. It is with Directv Channel 620 BEIN1. The team names are not showing up for the soccer matches. Schedulesdirect support states the team names showed up in their data. Can someone with Directv, or Dish, and a schedulesdirect account add BEIN1 to their schedulesdirect lineup just to see if the teams show up?

  2.5.9 reusing capture card.
Posted by: kcmcdona - 2012-10-22, 04:55 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I recently upgraded a nextpvr system from 2.4.3 to 2.5.9. It has two Hauppauge analog capture cards which utilize IR blasters to tune cable boxes to the proper channel. With 2.4.3, each request for livetv would utilize a different tuner card. I would have two different instances of VLC, requesting a livetv session with http://localhost:8866/live?channel=xxx. Each session would access a new tuner, and if both were busy, the VLC request would receive an error indicating that a 'tuner' was not available.

With 2.5.9, the first request works fine. However, the second request grabs the same tuner, changes the channel, and freezes the first session. I have attached an nrecord log file that shows the two connection requests, under 2.5.9.

I recall a recent post, about making nextpvr able to more easily change channels for livetv. Perhaps this change may be inadvertantly causing this behavior?

I note also that both tuners are tuned to channel 4, because they are receiving output from the cable boxes on channel 4, so it would seem that perhaps a new request would appear to be utilizing the same channel, even though the cable boxes are tuned to different cable channels?

Thanks for your help.

  request regarding development of plugin
Posted by: KRA - 2012-10-21, 08:22 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (11)

Could you please start using version number.

A changelog would be nice, at least for big changes, but version numbering as a minimum.

Like the plugin just hit osx, but what version? There are several linux ppa that provides builds but no way of knowing how old the plugin is.

I have created an account on schedule direct.

In NEXPVR, I try to setup the epg for a channel. I enter the username and password, then press download.

I get an error, 401 remote login error.

How can I resolve this?

Can't find a bda.ini file. I should have one, right?
Posted by: averageschmoe - 2012-10-21, 04:55 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hello,

My issue may lie in my installation as I did not download and install .NET 2.0 because, according to Microsoft, W7 x64 Home Edition supports it out of the box. I also did not download and install Direct X 9.0 since, as of a few months ago, I downloaded and installed the latest Direct X Runtime environment. I understand that, though current, this isn't what the 'before installation' asked for and as a result may not have installed all files necessary.

Regardless, when I go to Scan Channels under any of the tuners I receive a message that the device is unable to be started. I know that Avermedia support is nonexistent outside of WMC but it seems other members managed to fix this . Unfortunately, I am unable to find a bda.ini file anywhere on my computer, including the NPVR folder. Should the bda.ini file be somewhere or do I need to create it? Should simple un/reinstalling NextPVR solve the problem or is it more complicated than that?

Some useless background info:
I've been using WMC7 with 2 Avermedia HD Duets (one a Newegg white box, one from Fry's) with great success since 2010. I have an XBox 360 to use as an extender, and just about all the time it works flawlessly. I am, however, DONE with the lack of codec support built-in to this setup. Being the codec pack averse freak that I am and lover of XBMC and even my Boxee Box (despite its flaws), I have concluded that I want to take control of my legal OTA recordings and play them back with ease on any media player setup I choose. NextPVR recently popped up in -- I think -- an Engadget or maybe ArsTechnica article and, needless to say, I'm excited to give this a try. What you guys do is akin to magic for a peon like me, I think it's great that a program like this even exists, much less offers support.
