  Trying to access music or videos causes the nDroid server to crash
Posted by: agerdin - 2012-03-06, 07:16 PM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (7)

Brian,

When I am trying the new feature to reach Music and Videos the nDroid server crashes requiring a restart. Both my Music and Videos are located on shares on a server.

Extract from my nPVR Config.xml

Code:
<MusicLibrary extensions="^.+\.(mp3|ogg|m3u|wma|aac|wav|m4a|fla|flac)$"> <Directory name="Music">\\GERDIN-SERVER\Music\</Directory> </MusicLibrary> <VideoLibrary extensions="^.+\.(mpeg|mpg|m2v|avi|ty|avs|ogm|mp4|mov|m2ts|wmv|cdg|iso|rm|dvr-ms|ts|mkv|vob|divx|flv|ratDVD|m4v|3gp|rmvb|wtv|bdmv)$"> <Directory name="Videos">\\GERDIN-SERVER\Videos\</Directory> <Directory name="Children Shows &amp; Series">\\GERDIN-SERVER\Recorded TV\</Directory> <Directory name="Recordings">E:\My Recordings\</Directory> </VideoLibrary> <PictureLibrary extensions="^.+\.(bmp|jpg|png|tiff|tif)$"> <Directory name="Photos">\\GERDIN-SERVER\Photos\</Directory> </PictureLibrary>

Not sure what logs to attach but I can do if you let me know how.

  UltraXMLTV first run, epgtools.com and all that
Posted by: Graham - 2012-03-06, 06:34 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - No Replies

I am trying to get UltraXMLTV back running on a new 'puter but I am falling at the first hurdle. It wants me to register and errors when I try.

I suspect that epgtools.com has stopped working. How can I avoid the UltraXMLTV register dialog? I suspect a registry setting.

I would be grateful if some kind user of UltraXMLTV could look at ...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UltraXMLTV\UltraXMLTV_ Enhancer\

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ZERITECH\

All this assumes that Frank has moved on. Apologies if it ain't so.

Thanks. Graham.

PS. The "old" computer that used to run UltraXMLTV is now an orphan motherboard in a cardboard box.

Anybody know anything about why newegg has deactivated this item? I'm having a tough time getting my older VBOX DTA-150 to get recognized after my system crashed and was trying to get one there. Or does anybody know a good place to look for one online?

  Here comes Digital Cable ... what to do
Posted by: divinehammer - 2012-03-06, 03:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (26)

I have been using GBPVR for many years now with a Hauppauge PVR150 Card. My cable company is starting to switch their channels over to all digital and so now for my older tvs I have to get digital tuner boxes. I also want to keep using my GBPVR box, how can I go about doing that?

I think that I know I will have to get a new tuner card to pick up the digital channels but I am not for sure. Honestly I havent followed much in this tech space because everything just works... until now.
I am using GBPVR1.2.13 currently I think that I am looking to get a new hauppuage card like the 1600 but I am open to suggestions it has to be a PCI card though I dont think the old mobo I am using has pci express.

If all I need is a card change I would assume that I could just pop in the new card transfer over some settings in the GBPVR config and possibly remap the channels to new digital spots. This should allow me to keep all of my recordings that are currently on the box.
Anyways looking for a bit of guidance here from the community hope you can help. Thanks.

  HDPVR died - Has this happened to anyone else?
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2012-03-06, 02:01 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

After a year and half of usage, my HDPVR seems to have died. Windows says something like unrecognized USB device. The Hauppauge device driver install says it can't find the correct device in the system. I tried different USB cables. I tried different USB ports including ones from the motherboard & one from a USB 5 port card. I instaled Windows 7 on a machine that had been XP. I tried on my laptop. Same problem.

Has anybody else seen this & been able to fix it? It seems like it happened during a recording.

  PC Client TV not working
Posted by: NumberFive - 2012-03-06, 11:12 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi, maybe I'm doing something stupid here, but I can't get my PC Client to work anymore. I've fully patched both server and client (except NDigitalHost.exe - reasons in another thread). It used to work find when I was running 2.2.6. Firewall settings haven't changed.

I've posted logs from both machines. Thanks for any advice.

  Solition to N. American OTA channel numbers not working
Posted by: tisch006 - 2012-03-06, 03:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I took out the string in the Guide.xml file referencing the @number altogether. I then modified the name to be the same whether or not there is an icon. I then left justified the name and included the channel number in the name for each channel (my TV uses a "-" instead of a "." in the channel numbers. For example 2.3, 2.4, etc. I labeled 2-1, 2-2, etc. this also will allow naming of the logo files).

Lastly, I moved the icons over to the left.

This is what the code looks like:
<Element name="Channels" location="1.55,16.6" size="15.45,6.12" alpha="255" clearBeforeRender="true">
<Rect location="0.2,0" size="99.6,100" fillColor="Channels" />
<Text text="@name" visible="!@hasChannelIcon" location="26,0" size="72,100" font="DefaultMinimum" align="Left" valign="Center" />
<Text text="@name" visible="@hasChannelIcon" location="26,0" size="72,100" font="DefaultMinimum" align="Left" valign="Center" />
<Image source="@icon" location="0,2" size="26,96" fixedAspectRatio="true" />
</Element>

  R2a - No Live TV
Posted by: NumberFive - 2012-03-05, 07:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (24)

Hi,

I've updated to 2.3.6 R2a and although I have to admit that I can seek through recordings much better, on the down side Live TV doesn't work anymore! Big Grin

Logs attached. Downgrading to R1 gets everything working again but I wanted to try the patch for EPG updates.

Thanks Smile

  Newb Recording question
Posted by: johnnysocko - 2012-03-05, 03:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

So, this is probably a fairly basic question, hopefully I'll get an answer.

If one were just a little unhappy with the "recording quality" what would be the investigation that ensued to see about increasing it?

I'm thinking there are more than one thing to consider.
1. the OTA signal
2. the hardware itself
3. NextPvrs taking what the hardware has to offer it, decoding it, and writing to storage
4. The player which reads the decoded file and renders on the device

So, which ones can I fiddle with, interchange with something else, to see if something works better? I'm assuming #4 I can try to swap a codec on any player. Using NextPVR as the display engine, I'm assuming that's done with the Decoder configuration tab.

Is there anything that can be fiddled with for #2 or #3 if I've got that right? I know #3 has a good, better, best setting. What about what it is using to decode the signal if anything? Or is all decoding done on the hardware, and NPVR is just reading a bit stream and changing the sample rates on what it is reading?

Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

  Which Next PVR after Toppy ?
Posted by: fricken - 2012-03-05, 02:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Hi Guys,

I've had a Topfield 5800 for about 6 years. It’s been a great machine, but it's time for an update.

I've been waiting for Toppy to bring out a newer current model – but apart from the ‘not so great’ 5810 – there’s been nothing.

This is the only PVR that I’ve owned or used, & I’m a bit spoilt by this make & model (along with the TAPS & great help from Toppy-UK forum)

As Toppy can’t be bothered to upgrade, what do I look for next ?

I’m disabled and 95% of my TV watching is terrestrial Freeview, in the lounge. I’d like to say “the sky’s the limit” but it ain’t. What I do want, is value for money. If it costs a bit more to get a better unit, then the budget has to stretch.

What do you guys recommend that I look at ?

Thanks for reading.
