  Mystery Gift
Posted by: bgowland - 2012-01-15, 06:54 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (29)

My wife recently made a purchase from an online site which offered a "Free Mystery Gift" as a thank-you for the first order. Sure enough a mystery gift was included in the package and the packing note even says "Mystery Gift, Qty: 1 Price 0.00".

The trouble is...it truly is a bloody mystery as neither of us has the slightest idea what it is. The white parts on the tight loop and the tips of the 'prongs' are plastic sleeving and the ends of the 'prongs' are slightly angled up. It's about 9 inches from end to end and about 5 inches between 'prongs'.

The company does all sorts of gadgets for kitchen, garden etc and I've been through pretty much the whole of the website and can't find anything like it.

Any ideas anyone?

  Is NPVR alive and well?
Posted by: johnnysocko - 2012-01-15, 02:36 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

Just wondering - I see the last update from 8/2011. Welcome back to me...

Thinking finally with some google tv enabled devices and what not I might actually want to finally take the time to resurrect my GBPVR/NPVR setup to centralize a video on demand local streaming facility. Where GTV seems to be a nice missing link (path of least resistance) from what I wanted to build and didn't have the time or energy to do a year or so back (i.e. dedicated streaming clients on each TV)

Composite Channel not being tuned properly
Posted by: seymoria - 2012-01-14, 08:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Hi.

I have two TV cards (Hauppauge 150MCE) working fine. Cable input is fed to both and various channels have been tuned on them.

I also have 02 dish receivers and have connected Receiver1 to card 1 and Receiver2 to card2 through AV cables.

Then, thru GBPVR's config menu, I installed Composite channel1 (named 'Dish1') on Card1 and 'Dish2' on Card 2. I then also added the composite channel 'Dish1' to the list of tuned channels on the card1 and added 'Dish2' to listed channels on Card2.

However, one channel is receiving signal while other is not. (The one on Card2 is OK). I tried to swap the receivers and the same thing; no signal on Card1 while OK signal on Card2).

(The 'source channel' is mentioned as '1' for both Dish1 and Dish2).

I am completely baffled. Please advise.

Regards.

  Web radio recording with timer

Does anyone know if there is a way to record a web radio show once a week automatically? The station uses Flash and Windows media.

  NMTInstall.exe for GB-PVR?
Posted by: arkennedy75 - 2012-01-14, 06:57 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (1)

I'm trying to add a PCH A-100 to my GB-PVR setup but am finding the old NMTInstall.exe link on the wiki are dead. I assume the NMTInstall2.exe for NPVR won't work for a GB-PVR setup. Can someone attach/link to the old file. Thanks!

  SubMenu: Support Thread
Posted by: imilne - 2012-01-14, 04:24 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (35)

This is the (new) support thread for SubMenu, an NPVR plugin that can act as a replacement main menu, duplicating the functionality of the built-in (horizontal only for now) menu and adding support for sub menus.

If posting bug reports, please ensure to include the log files from either C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\Logs.

NPVR with Tuner Card and External DirecTV box
Posted by: WannaBeGeekster - 2012-01-13, 07:17 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (4)

Alright so a few things. I am confused greatly by how to configure this properly.

I would be willing to write this up as a How To when I am finished as I think it is a pretty common scenario. Maybe it is already available somewhere and I am just searching for the wrong things.

So I am running Windows XP SP3. I have a Hauppauge HVR-1800 tuner card. I have DirecTV and a external box that is used to decode the signal. The box is hooked up to the tuner card with the coax cable and the tuner needs to be set on channel 3. So maybe this is the problem and the DirecTV box needs to be hooked up with S-Video or something other than the coax cable.

So here is where I am confused and maybe this is the whole problem. But how do I keep the tuner on channel 3 and import the EPG data for the DirecTV box into NPVR and then use an irblaster to change the channels on the DirecTV box instead of changing the tuner channel?

I found a great post that outlined how to use ISS to change the channels on the DirecTV box. But it doesn't talk about anything other than that, like how to correctly hook up the DirecTV box to the tuner card and how to configure NPVR properly with the correct EPG data to be able to record TV shows properly.

So needless to say I am confused about how to properly configure the EPG data with the correct device listed in the NPVR configuration. I have the TV Guide listing there after subscribing to Schedules Direct but not sure if just changing the Channel Changer to use ISS is the right way to make this happen.

HELP ! Its all gone very wrong :-(
Posted by: R1Dave - 2012-01-13, 04:49 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

I set NPVR up in early December. No real problems except with my Hauppauge NOVA-T-500 which exibited a known issue with the XP USB drivers causing Blue Screens when 2 tuners were in use.

anyway, i fixed that yesterday by downgrading the drivers to XP SP2 and everthing was lovely.

i was having minor issues with the UK "Dave" channel freezing on adverts so decided to delete it and re-tune. Did this, re-added "Dave" and it also found Channel5+1 which was a bonus.

BUT

since then (might be a cooincidence?) most of my Channels will not play (black screen, no sound). i just get a black screen and no sound. I've attached the logs. the last "Watch" was an example of one not working. the previous one to that did work.

the only channels I can now get are all BBC and all on frequency 530000. note though that non-BBC channels on that frequency do not work.

just as a test, i plugged a portable TV into the same aerial and retuned and it found and played all the channels with no issue. so it isn't the signal.

i also tried starting with a clean database and doing a complete retune. This did not find many channels for some reason and some that it did find did not work.

the final test was to disable the Hauppauge card and use an external USB Nebula tuner. this did exactly the same as the Hauppauge cardvso it isn't a faulty card.

if it helps, I'm on the Ridge Hill Transmitter in the UK.

please help ! my wife will kill me if she can't use it over the weekend !

  Server 2008 R2 Woes :-(
Posted by: nx01 - 2012-01-13, 01:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

I am running a client/server setup

Running server 2008 r2, Pinnacle Dual Sat Card Pro 4000i

Installed all the DVB hacks/patches to use DVB on server 2008 scan all channels fine.

When I try to watch a station on the server it hangs, in the C:\temp directory are the TS files but they stay at 0KB

The same happens when I use it from the client side.

I have attached the logs for the client PC and the server service as this is the ultimate configuration I want working
Please help :-)

Problem With OSD when using VMR9FSE
Posted by: TBacker - 2012-01-13, 03:52 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I'm a former SageTV user (RIP - Google, you suck!) who has been using MediaPortal, but am testing out NPVR to see how it's progressed. How's that for a trail!

Anyway, I'm running a client/server setup. The server/recording service is running on my Win2003 server in the basement, and the client is a good little Zotac box with an NVidia video device and WinXP stripped down to it's essentials. I've got two HDHR's for a total of 4 ATSC tuners on the server.

I've got everything talking and working. I'm running the latest version with the final patches applied.

I only have one issue thus far...

When using the requisite VMR9FSE renderer (no tearing), when I start any video playback, the video starts and plays back nicely. However I get a series of error dialogs that repeat for about 3 seconds despite my escaping out of them:

After 3 seconds, they stop appearing. And guess what... My OSD timeout is configured for 3 seconds but no OSD shows. If I perform an action that would make an OSD pop up, the errors start firing again! So, I know the reason and trigger, but not the why. This does not happen when not running full screen exclusive (standard windowed VMR9). Ideas???

I'm attaching a log...

The error that seems to occur each time this happens is:

2012-01-12 22:04:10.810 [ERROR][1] m_D3D->CreateDevice( D3DADAPTER_DEFAULT, D3DDEVTYPE_HAL, m_window, D3DCREATE_SOFTWARE_VERTEXPROCESSING | D3DCREATE_MULTITHREADED, &pp, &m_D3DDev.p) failed (hr=0x8876017c)

By the way and unrelated (I think) - the log also frequently shows missing skin elements:

2012-01-12 22:04:04.763 [DEBUG][1] Element not found: /Skin/Element[@name="PopupCenterButtonNormal"]
2012-01-12 22:04:04.763 [DEBUG][1] Element not found: /Skin/Element[@name="PopupCenterButtonSelected"]

I see these are defined in the Global.xml file for the default skin, but am too unfamiliar with NPVR to deduce anything from that. Looks like they're global definitions of UI areas/buttons that are available to children layouts?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
