Pandora Internet Radio and MusicMonkey (MediaMonkey) music plugins
Posted by: cncb - 2011-12-12, 10:04 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (19)

I just submitted 2 music playback plugins:

Pandora Internet Radio: Allows you to play your Pandora Internet Radio stations inside of NPVR (currently only available in the USA).

MusicMonkey: Allows you to browse and play back your local music collection through the MediaMonkey software while controlling it in NPVR.

  Good low-cost NAS with resilience (RAID5 ?)
Posted by: R1Dave - 2011-12-12, 09:51 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (21)

I'm not an expert on hardware by any means but i have a reasonable idea of what i want. I'm looking for a reasonable amount of disk space for video (about 3TB) with backup (so RAID something). I'm thinking a 4 disk NAS would be a good option. Does anybody have any recommendations? I don't want to spend a fortune. If it's too pricy, i'll just go for a couple of single disk NAS's and periodically back one up to the other.

[Plugin] MusicMonkey: music playback via MediaMonkey
Posted by: cncb - 2011-12-12, 09:50 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (12)

This is the support thread for the MusicMonkey plugin as described in the wiki: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...usicMonkey

The plugin allows you to browse and play back your local music collection through the MediaMonkey software while controlling it in NPVR.

  [Plugin] Pandora Internet Radio
Posted by: cncb - 2011-12-12, 09:35 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (29)

This is the support thread for the Pandora Internet Radio plugin described in the wiki here: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ndoraRadio

I will repeat the disclaimers here:

Internet Explorer 9 (only tested with this version but may work with others) and .NET Framework 3.5 are required. A free Pandora account is also necessary. Since a browser window is used for playback this only works on PCs and not on hardware "extenders".

Note that if you can't get Pandora to work in Internet Explorer outside of NPVR the plugin will not work. The plugin also does not bypass the geographic limitations of Pandora in any way (it seems to only be available in the USA at the moment).

Also note that since this plugin relies on the IE browser, simulated keystrokes, and the Pandora website to operate, don't be surprised if it is not terribly reliable (e.g. web page loading issues, focus issues, changes to the Pandora website breaking things, etc.).

  Recording Format
Posted by: Stujstu - 2011-12-12, 03:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hello again,

i wonder if anyone could assist me with another question?

Is it possible to record to a different format other that ts?

The reason i ask is that the ts format doesn't seem to play back very well on the Apple TV. I have a facility to convert and move the recorded files, but that seems to take hours for each program.

Any help appreciated

Need to transfer something from VHS - any lightweight recording utilities out there?
Posted by: bgowland - 2011-12-11, 10:07 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

My wife needs me to transfer a short film from a VHS tape to a USB memory stick ASAP.

We still own a VCR and I still have my PVR-500 sitting in my PC although it's been out of the loop since moving permanently to npvr. In the old days I'd just set a manual recording going with gbpvr but I don't want the hassle of re-enabling gbpvr on my machine (or enabling the PVR-500 for npvr).

Does anyone know of any lightweight utilities that I could use with the PVR-500 to simply record for 30 mins to mpeg format?

Cheers,
Brian

  Recording Folders
Posted by: Stujstu - 2011-12-11, 06:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Good evening,

Would anyone here know if it is possible to configure NPVR to NOT record program's into individual folders? i.e so that all recordings end up I the same folder/directory.

So far, I have not found a thread that covers it.

Many thanks in advance.

  IR Quit working
Posted by: wscrivens - 2011-12-11, 03:27 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I'm getting ready to install Xfinity DTAs and I was trying to set up IR Blaster to work with them.

I used the IR Blaster setup program that came with WinTV and my Hauppague 1600, and so far haven't gotten the DTA to recognize it.

Now, the IR works OK with WinTV, but NPVR does not respond to it. RestartIR does not help. Is there some setting buried inside NPVR that I need to adjust? I don't want to uninstall WinTV since I will need it when I get back to working with Comcast.

  Skipping sound
Posted by: lemming - 2011-12-11, 08:18 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I made the terrible mistake of building a HTPC for my parents after they saw and liked mine. Have had pain and anguish ever since.

Latest problem has been ongoing for a while, and is sound related. The sound skips (badly), lip sync is out, or combination of both. Every time I am at the house it works fine. Is NZ HE-AAC, so started off with Monogram. Have tried DivX with same results.

Don't have any logs, but hoped this would ring a bell with someone... Is there a third option for decoders???

Is windows 7 (all decoders windows other than HE-AAC), has (My!!) HD4670 for video & sound over HDMI, and is latest build of NPVR with patchs.

Any help (desperately!!!) appreciated.... Cheers Chris

Recording Quality, where has it gone?
Posted by: TVHelp - 2011-12-11, 02:19 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (33)

I have been having problems with poor quality recordings because one tuner is recording two shows at once, leaving open tuners unused. I have tracked back and can confirm this is the cause of the poor quality. So I thought I would go back and set each recording to have the "best quality" to hopefully help "push" it to another tuner. I could of sworn that there was a setting for recording quality by program (as well as a default), but when I go in to update and even record anew, I can not find this. Is it my imagination, has it been removed in the latest patches...???

If this feature is no longer available, does anyone have any idea how I can force the recording software to utilize all my tuners before doubling up on one???

Your help is greatly appreciated!

System note: I am using windows 7 x64 and have two Hauppauge 2250 tuners, giving me 4 tuners total.
