Next Recording message on main menu screen
Posted by: pcostanza - 2011-09-14, 12:36 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

How can I change, turn on or turn off the 'Next Recording' display at the bottom of my main menu? I just realized it's never been correct. No matter what/when the next recording is, it always displays the next recording show as the same one, Monday nights at 9pm. I have 6 shows to be recorded before then and only the same one is displayed.

  bulk map broken?
Posted by: Spark - 2011-09-13, 10:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I hit the bulk map option, and while I can change it to xmltv, I could not tell it what channel/station. The only other option I had was change the number on the left.

It is very, very slow doing it the other way, and very, very slow once you select update EPG.
I know it has to read the huge xml file, but isn't this cached at all ? It takes 60 secs per channel to update the EPG, no matter what the CPU speed is, or the amount of RAM in the system.

It also takes around 30 secs or so to manually change the channel to xml, then pick what it maps to.
With lots of channels, this really eats up the time. Sad

A way to load EPG quicker on pc clients
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2011-09-13, 09:09 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

The first EPG load on a PC client is quite slow (2 weeks 40 channels), I was wondering if there is a quicker way of doing it? Perhaps the client could use a local EPG lisitings either a local to the client xml grab or a batch file that runs on boot up to copy over the EPG to the client machine?

Or maybe an option to only pull down the first x days of EPG on a client?

Nrecord.exe still running even stopped NPVR service
Posted by: bumper2007 - 2011-09-13, 06:27 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

I'm running 2.2.6 with latest patch updates. computer config: Win7 home premium 64bit, Core-i3 3.1Ghz, 4G RAM.
capture device: 2x Hauppauge HDPVR, 1x USB-Live2

recently i'm testing to set schedule recording with using your command line schedule.exe, and make recordings on 3 devices at the same time. But somehow the Nrecord.exe couldn't stop the recording properly. e.g. the program show time is from 12:00am - 5:00pm, Nrecord.exe was still making recordings after 5:00pm. And when trying to stop NPVR service, Nrecord.exe kept running even you tried to kill task using "taskkill" command. When it happens, I have to restart the PC to remove that Nrecord.exe, otherwise the NPVR won't work.

attached the log files for your reference, thanks.

  My HTPC MK3
Posted by: hoborg - 2011-09-13, 01:31 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I will be rebuilding my HTPC soon, so here are few notes.

Here is my current HTPC: http://hobring.esero.net/htpc.htm

Firstly, i got a new TV - Panasonic 42" LCD TV TX-L42E30E. Thanks to VIERA web services, this TV have build in weather, YouTube, MyTrailers, etc..., so there is no need to use similar plugins in HTPC anylonger.

Connection HTPC (ATI 6450) <-> TV - HDMI + external stereo speekers.
I will use TV only when LAV audio decoder support downmix to stereo.

HTPC will be Win7 x86 and NPVR based, SAF6 as a complex codec solution.
+AnyDVD
+MCE standy tool
+DaemonToolsLite
+Taskbar Eliminator

I will be using it to play games too, should be working like gaming console - just connect kyapad and play!
No mouse and keyboard connected.

So, the update is planed to 3 steps:
1) - Repllace WinTV-1300 by USB DVB-t tuner - Done!, using EVOLVE MARS USB now, it seems to be workin great (WinTV-1300 had a problems...).
2) - Replace hardware by AMD APU A8-3800 + 4GB RAM - waiting, A8-3800 not available at shop now...
3) - Reinstall whole HTPC with Win7 x86 OS - this will be most time eating task...

More info will be added...

Should VGA out to TV work?
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2011-09-13, 01:12 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (1)

I recently purchased an iStar HD Network Media Player (NMT) off of Ebay. I copied the contents of the USB memory stick I use on my PCH A110 to another USB stick. That iStar (mine is actually the Mini) has HDMI & VGA out. I couldn't get NPVR to come up with the VGA. When I switched to the HDMI, NPVR worked. I was trying different things, so I could try some more things with the VGA, but I figured I'd ask here before hand.

When I searched for VGA in the "MVP & NMT" forum before posting this, nothing came up. That might be my answer right there. Smile

  Multidec setup stopped working!!!
Posted by: agerdin - 2011-09-13, 12:46 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

Some weeks ago I finally upgraded my system from XP to Windows 7. Did a fresh install of NPVR and copied all my settings (db+config.xml)from the old setup. Amazingly all worked out of the box including the Multidec setup for enctrypted channels (an Acamd setup which is calling a newCS server located on my WHS machine).

Yesterday I noticed that I no longer had my encrypted channels (DVB-S) working. All free channels on DVB-T still works. Starting to troubleshoot, I am not even able to see NPVR making calls to Acamd as the Acamd monitor is not logging any calls to the server.

As I had kept my XP partition I was able to reboot in XP, copied my NPVR db over and started LiveTV. All works, and the Acamd monitor shows logging of all interaction with the cardserver.

What has happened? and how can I see how NPVR is using the Acamd solution located in the MDplugins folder.

Logs are attached, but I am not able to find anything in them that could direct me to what could be wrong.

Any ideas???

  US Over-The-Air Broadcast Tuner Recommendation
Posted by: smajor - 2011-09-13, 12:16 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Hi all. I know virtually nothing about receiving over-the-air-TV, but I've been reading to catch up. I'm currently using a couple of HDPVRs with NPVR and my cable TV provider.

I'm in a rural area in the US that, until recently, received no over-the-air signals. I'm told we now get 4 stations fairly easily. I'd like to get a tuner to see how things work. Any recommendation would be helpful. I think my requirements are modest:

1) obviously needs to be compatible, as simply as possible, with NPVR.

2) can be PCI, PCI-E, or USB based. I have room for anything on my hardware.

3) external antenna support? I suspect that is pretty standard.

Since this is an experiment, I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible. I can always "gear up" if we get more channels down the road. I plan to keep cable for awhile.

Thanks for any advice folks.

  keyboard Shortcuts for Volume
Posted by: ijourneaux - 2011-09-12, 08:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I was wondering in NPVR had keyboard shortcuts defined for volume up/down. I couldn't find anything listed in the Wiki.
