  Capture video output of MCE
Posted by: ForestKlown - 2011-04-23, 03:54 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

I have Comcast cable and want to use NPVR to view my subscription.

I know there is a way to use IR blasters to control a set-top box and capture the video output of the box with component cables.

I also know there are tuner cards with CableCard, but they only work with MCE because of DRM BullSh!t.

So I'm wondering if it is possible to write software to capture the video output of MCE and pipe it into NPVR? Maybe someway to control MCE with NPVR?

Thanks for any input.

  NEWA does not play large MPG files (EWA worked fine)
Posted by: chuck_2330 - 2011-04-23, 01:38 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (16)

One feature I miss greatly is the ability to play large videos of type MPG through the web interface (NEWA). If I try to play these, I get an error in the Windows Error log:

Exception type: ArgumentOutOfRangeException
Exception message: MemoryStream length must be non-negative and less than 2^31 - 1 - origin.

I had no such problem under EWA :confused:http://forums.gbpvr.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

  Australian NPVR users? Gem, Mate & SBS issues
Posted by: chuck_2330 - 2011-04-23, 11:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

I was wondering if any other Australian NPVR users could confirm this for me?

I need to transcode my recordings with ffmpeg in a postprocessing.bat script but I am having problems with Gem, Mate & SBS. I am unable to successfully transcode these channels, however I have no problems with the other channels.

For each of the "good" channels, ffmpeg reports the video as 720x576. For my "problem" channels I have very different sizes: Gem is 1920x1080, Mate is 1440x1080 and SBS is 1280x720.

The other difference I have found is that "good" channels have video on stream 0.0, audio on stream 0.1, subtitles on 0.2 and data on 0.3. Gem has audio5.1 on 0.2 with subtitles on 0.3 and data on 0.4 and Mate is all over the place, with subtitles on 0.1, data on 0.2 and audio on 0.3. Gem is the only channel that shows AC3 sound in NPVR Live TV, all others are MPEG1.

I use NEWA to successfully record ALL channels but to make things even more interesting I don't get anything displayed on NPVR Live for any of the Channel 7 (Prime7, Prime7Two & 7Mate in my area) or Channel 10 (10 or Eleven).

I am assuming that the channels are consistent in their broadcast parameters.

I don't know how to get ffmpeg to deal with these variations when transcoding but if I could confirm that they are "real" and not a figment of my imagination, that would be a start.

thanks

Greg

Hello,

I am a n00b, so please forgive me if this topic has already been addressed. Smile

Basically, I cannot get CC to work, so I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or whether CC is fully supported with NextPVR?

When I watch a live TV channel, I can right click and select "teletext subtitles (eng, pg801) from the Subtitle Stream. But, I cannot see any text.

I have also tried using different video renderers without any success. Ie. EVR, VMR7,9, etc.

My capture card is DTV1000 S, and I use ATI 5870 video card with Windows 7 x64.

Thanks in advance.

  Some File Types Do Not Show Up in Web Video Library
Posted by: taz - 2011-04-23, 12:23 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (3)

On the video library of the web client I have file types (m4v) that do not show up in the list. I have looked through some of the xml files and see the m4v extension in the <VideoLibraryExtensions> part of the config file. I am assuming this does not apply to the web client. Is there another file I need to edit so show m4v files (or other file types) in the web client?

  Minimum hardward for 1080i broadcast HD - GeForce 6200, P4, 2Gb?
Posted by: spdrac1 - 2011-04-22, 10:26 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (11)

Hi all,
I recently upgraded to nPVR on my HTPC, previously running gbpvr. In anticipation of a new LCD TV I also added a Hauppauge 950Q to capture OTA broadcasts. As you can see in the title, my hardware is a bit aged. Here's the list.

Nvidia GeForce 6200 AGP 256Mb
P4 2.8 (Socket 478)
2Gb DDR RAM
Hauppeuge PVR-150 (cable)
Hauppauge 950Q
Windows 7 Ultimate

After a bit of time trying various decoders, I found the best performance from cyberlink from SAF. My analog cable still looks good, as do non-HD OTA channels, however those broadcast in 1080i are quite choppy. With the CyberLink codec my cpu usage averages about 20%, so I doubt that's the limitation, but the video card is suspect.

My question: Is it worth it to tinker with drivers, codecs, rederers, etc further or have I reached the limitations of AGP and the GeForce card? Anyone with a similar setup able to view HD? Not sure if it would make a difference, but I'm testing this on my PC monitor - hooked up through the VGA port. Might that be causing degradation?

Thanks for any thoughts.

  How do I add episodes to XML guide?
Posted by: masnovelas - 2011-04-22, 09:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I use a manual xmltv guide. When it was GBPVR I used EpisodeTweaker to add additional show info. That does not work with NPVR so I want to add the show episode to the guide and have it show up in the title after recording.
I cannot get it to work at all.
This is an example of what I have. I have compare it to other xmltv listings but cannot find the problem.
Example - Original listing

<programme start="20110422132000 -0400" stop="20110422135000 -0400" channel="I10239.labs.zap2it.com">
<title lang="en">Tester</title>
<category lang="en">Drama</category>
<episode-num system="dd_progid">SH00999999.0000</episode-num>
</programme>

I have tried both of the following

<programme start="20110422132000 -0400" stop="20110422135000 -0400" channel="I10239.labs.zap2it.com">
<title lang="en">Tester</title>
<category lang="en">Drama</category>
<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00999999.0000</episode-num>
<episode-num system="onscreen">145</episode-num>
</programme>

and
<programme start="20110422135000 -0400" stop="20110422141000 -0400" channel="I10239.labs.zap2it.com">
<title lang="en">Tester2</title>
<category lang="en">Drama</category>
<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00999999.0123</episode-num>
<episode-num system="onscreen">145</episode-num>
</programme>

Any help is appreciated.

  Crossbar? Angel USB Mpeg Device
Posted by: megellan - 2011-04-22, 03:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Finally got around to upgrading to NPVR. Have Angel USB Mpeg Device (analog); followed directions; get sound though no video. Suspect that the crossbar filter has wrong input.

AM_KSCATEGORY_CROSSBAR
- (input) 2: Video Tuner In

Any ideas how to set?

  Recordings in NPVR are at 32x240. When played on MVP are only 80% of screen
Posted by: mattrobo - 2011-04-22, 05:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

How can I change the default size of NPVR recordings? They are saved on the computer at 320x240.

When played on the MVP using MVMPC they are shown at that size and thus only filling say 80% of my TV screen.

Matthew

  recording 2 copies of same show at same time
Posted by: pjm460 - 2011-04-22, 01:58 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

NVPR is recording an extra copy of each show I schedule. Although I'm impressed that my computer can actually handle the task, I have no need for both copies and want to make it stop. I attached a link to screenshots of the problem as well as log files
