With this new release I've now dropped the 'beta' tag from NextPVR, and bumped the number up to 2.0. It can be downloaded from http://www.gbpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe.

The main changes since the last release are bug fixes, but it also contains a few new features:

Admittedly, the vertical menu is pretty plain looking. - added a checkbox on the decoder screen to 'only include mapped audio decoders for .ts playback', which will help some people with stuttering audio caused by multiple audio decoders/renderers when playing recordings
Sub, how feasible is it to include an option for the audio filters so that nPVR doesn't do any of the selection itself, ie, it leaves it all to Windows?
I'm not sure if I fully understand it, but the way it is at the moment results in multiple audio filters in a transport stream graph when you have more than one audio decoder enabled (which you need if you have channels with both mpeg and ac3 sound). I know this has caused other people problems with audio/video sync, but my particular problem with this relates to using nPVR with Reclock - you can't
I think it's because only one of the filters can talk to it.
In this case, ac3filter was selected for both mpeg and ac3 decoding. Using Reclock, channels with ac3 sound work but channels with mpeg don't, although it's probably just coincidence that the filter for ac3 sound is the one that got to talk to Reclock.
I don't know if it would work or not, but my reason for suggesting leaving the selection up to Windows is that all other video types - mkv, mpg, avi, etc - all work fine in nPVR and show up with just a single audio filter in the graph. It's just the .ts files that cause the problem.

I'm just getting around to rebuilding my server, windows 7 ultimate, 32 bit. I've installed NPVR 1.5.36 with all the patches I can find (including http://forums.gbpvr.com/attachment.php?a...1296521929 ), and the MVP only "fix" that I found in one of the posts (can't find it at the moment, wasn't generally release as it may have caused issues for non MVP users).
The problem is that although my videos and must show up when I run NPVR on the server, when I go to the music or video tabs on the MVP, no videos, music or even the photos show up, they just aren't there. things seem to work, there's just nothing to do. I've tried both the dongle that came in the NPVR package, and the mvpmc (inand tried emulation mode from the MVP menu) dongle, no change in behavior.
I've set the following in config.xml, neither of these made any change either: TranscodeTsForMVP to false, and StartPortControl to 5916.
Nothing seems to matter, it's just like I didn't have any source directories defined, but they all work on the NPVR main screen.
I havejust purchased a Toshiba 1080P TV which has built in media streaming that connects to Win 7 media player.
When I try to stream HD TS files recorded from BBC using NPVR edited in VRD the picture size is reduced as the TV detects them as 4:3 .
The same files play ok via my WDlive streamer again using Win 7 media player.
The cause appears to be the way Windows media player streams TS files as I have seen the same problem with a Zyxel streamer. WTV files appear to work !!!
I'm trying to get to the bottom of the problems I am having with playing some recorded files that played fine under EWA in GBPVR.
Sub has suggested that NEWA transcodes files as they are played (not streamed).
Could there be something in my settings that has screwed up playing recorded files? Apart from NPVR rather than GBPVR, the other difference is that I am using SAF4 rather than the Cyberlink mux.
Sub, what's needed to get NPVR to recognize the Hauppauge Colossus? I have it installed, drivers installed, and the ir remote is working, but no sign of the Colossus in NPVR yet. I assume I need to add an entry to AnalogDevices.xml, or add a section to config.xml.
I have had an HD-PVR running previously, so the playback stuff should be OK.
My NPVR computer will no longer sleep so I looked at the NPVR logs for clues. Looking at an old NPVR.log which started at 1900 and filled up in 4 hours with entries like the one below:-
Every 2 minutes it was printing out over 100 items which is about the number of recordings I have. Around 20:45 it reduced the number to 19 recordings and continued at that rate until I put it into standby manually this morning. It later woke to do a recording but did not sleep afterwards and its still adding 19 items to the log every 2 mins.
I noticed that the overnight NPVR.log contained just these entries and not recordings and the EPG update. I then noticed that the NRecord logs which I have not seen used before were full. The two oldest logs filled up in 15-20 minutes and contained Client Reads from when I watched a programme via the client. In later logs are two recordings and the EPG update which took place in the middle of a recording so the EPG update details were shorter and different to the usual update. Previously recordings and EPG updates have appeared in the NPVR.log.

While watching TV, if I press home I see the menu, but there seems to be no way to get back to watching TV. The sound continues to play, but I can't get the picture back.
Is there some way to do this? I can't see anything in the wiki keyboard reference.
If I have come from the live tv and hit the previous channel on the original channel that I pulled up then I get an unhandled exception. I noticed it when I accidentally did it this evening. I closed the program completely and reopened and from tv guide I selected a channel and hit previous channel and got the unhandled exception again. Oh and ignore my signature I downloaded npvr the other day to try out. so this is the latest version 1.5.36 with patches applied.
