I have used pretty much every OTA PVR system on the market, and have had no problem setting any of them up, with the exception of nPVR. I have never been able to get the TV portion to work. I run dual Hauppauge 1600 cards in my HTPC. Windows 7 64-bit, Core 2 Duo chip, with 4Gb RAM, and an ATI Radeon 5770 Graphics card.
Sage, Mediaportal and GB-PVR have all worked out of the box, with few issues. Here are my log files for nPVR. When I scan for channels, nothing appears.
With gbpvr I used comskip in process and when watching a recording that was in process, the comskip info would be constantly updated while watching.
Now with nPVR, using comskip in process with parallelprocessing.bat, it works fine, but the comskip file does not get updated while watching a recording that is in progress. If I quit and restart watching it is updated.
Is there a way to have the comskip info updated while watching an in process recording in nPVR?
When I hit pause and then resume, within 3-4 seconds the audio and then the video freeze up... i have to exit live tv and then re watch... using Hauppauge 1600 (qam) to watch live tv... logs attached

I have one USB TV tuner attached to this computer. It was recognized and the channel scan went fine. It records great, so I would think it is working with the software. I have installed the Direct X 9 update.
In nPVR in the settings on the General page I have PVR mode selected. But the main screen still has a Live TV option. If I move to that and hit enter, I get a message that reads "Unable to find available capture device", and, of course, I get no TV. No recording is happening while I do this (but at least in theory I have recordings pending, see my previous post for details on that issue).
I can change the general setting from PVR to TV Viewer, but then I just get a black screen, and still no TV.
Why would I get the message about no available capture device? Have I failed to set up something properly?
And as I work through the documentation and try to take in all of the features of this software, I get the impression that it might be able to show other live video than just from a TV tuner, perhaps things from the Internet. Can anyone point me in the right direction to do that, or just tell me that i'm confused about that.
Here is a strange one. I did make the Direct 9 update that johnsonx42 posted about, but I doubt if that had any effect. I again emptied the EPG and reloaded it. I went into the manual recording section to schedule a recording to test my ability to cancel it once it starts. To my surprise there are no other recordings showing as scheduled, although I had several weekly recordings scheduled.
If I go to the tray and select "show status" a window opens and tells me that I do have pending recordings. But the GUI shows no pending recordings, and so no way to control them any longer.
By the way, I was able to schedule a one-time event, let it start, and then stop it in progress. At least that much worked. It never occurred to me to just hit enter while I was clicking and right clicking on the recording screen.
I was going to set this thread up as a poll but then realised users could have a LOT of different reasons that I haven't thought about to not be using NextPVR yet.
For me it is only partially correct as I am using NextPVR with an NMT for all my daytime usage, checking the weather, playing music etc. etc. etc. as all this stuff is heaps better with NextPVR, but I have not converted my main production server over yet for these reasons (in order of importance from my way of thinking):
(In brackets what I use with GB-PVR)
Too many reports of the RecordingService stopping working for a lot of users
No way to manage my disks from my chair in the sittingroom (Supersimple archiver)
No fully functional ScreenSaver plugin (MLPanel)
No advanced Music plugin (Music Library3)
No Movie plugin (MovieWizard)
No way to change recording names etc. (WizEpisode Tweaker)
Now that's interesting, that list is lot shorter than I though it was going to be & I suspect if the locking up RecordingService could be sorted out I would actually change over right now.
I have been looking around the new wiki & I will start of saying you guys are doing a great job!!
One thing I noticed is for the Keyboard Reference the Show Menu Bar (hidden menu I assume?) doesn't seem to show that from my understanding the "HOME" key should work basically everywhere but maybe a few plugins....it shouldn't be too hard to check if I'm right with this.
