Upgraded PVR driver, now everything has sub-titles
Posted by: jfm - 2010-10-01, 03:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

This is a separate problem from the other I had, so I'm creating a separate thread.

Due to a problem with the timestamp issue that I was having with Hauppauge PVR-500 tuners, I applied the fixes in the wiki page here:

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/T...tampIssue#toc4

The fixes included upgrading the driver to the beta example given and a reg fix.

The good news is that the timestamp problem appears to be fixed. The bad news is that every recorded show now has close-caption sub-titles. I would appreciate any information on how to fix this. It's very annoying.

  Running GBPVR & NPVR
Posted by: Blue Racer - 2010-10-01, 03:06 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (4)

I installed NPVR to begin setting it up and getting it running. I tried to follow the instructions as closely as possible. Now when I click on the mvpmc share I get 2 options: GBPVR & NPVR. The problem I am having is that sometimes when I try to load NPVR I get the GBPVR menu coming up on my tv screen. Did I do something wrong.

  Weather Plugin with NPVR
Posted by: Blue Racer - 2010-10-01, 02:17 AM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - Replies (6)

I downloaded and installed the weather plugin for NPVR. I did all the settings. But when I go to the weather menu and hit enter it won't do anything. Not sure what I did wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Skipping forward unstable? Skips backwards sometimes?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2010-10-01, 12:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Not sure if this is related or I just have a bad file / timeline, but some files (like the one in these logs) just jump all over the place when I try to skip forward. Sometimes it ends up back at an earlier point on the timeline?

  recording HD content (not OTA)
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2010-09-30, 08:32 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

How are people recording their HD content from their HD boxes? I read that HDMI will not allow this but maybe component might?

I'd like to know of any solutions out there. Right now I can't seem to find any that are reasonably priced.

Thanks.

  Android client

Just a thought, but an Android client would be really cool so changes could be made from a cell phone, kinda like Direct TV has.

  Video metadata

Can anyone help me out with the video metadata page on the wiki? Need info sources and editors (websites, programs) and formats supported by the Video Library screen. Link or post here is enough if you don't feel like getting your hands dirty with the wiki Smile

What card for Dish Network HD box output?
Posted by: ram4x4nut - 2010-09-30, 03:06 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

So I am thinking about switching to Dish Network satellite instead of cable. My set up now is an HVR1600 and a PVR150. I get analog and clear QAM without using a STB.

As far as I know the satellite receiver only outputs HD thru component video out and HDMI out. What cards work as this kind of input with GBPVR?

  comskip max_repair_size setting
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2010-09-29, 11:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

In another thread, pBS said:

pBS Wrote:there is only 1 part of files comskip can sometimes alter, the pts timeline can be 'fixed' by comskip up to 200 frames by default..
set max_repair_size=0 in comskip.ini to turn that off completely...
This setting is described in the comskip.ini file thusly:
Code:
max_repair_size=200 ; Will repair maximum 200 missing MPEG frames in the timeline, set to 0 to disable repairing for players that don't use PTS.

Can anyone tell me precisely what this does to the file? Could leaving it enabled throw off the data in the file relative to the NPVR Timing.Info? I've become EXTREMELY frustrated trying to use comskip with NPVR lately; the skip points are sometimes so far off I have to manually skip back through the commercial break to catch 10-20 seconds of show that I missed when it skipped. I'm almost ready to throw in the towel on using comskip (yet without it I would start to question (again) why I bother with all this). Comskip itself works perfectly: if I bring up a problem file in the comskip debugger display, the detected skip points are frame-perfect from its point of view. NPVR and comskip just can't agree on the timeline in a lot of files, so NPVR skips in the wrong place half the time.

I've just set the max_repair_size to 0, but I won't know for sure right away since some recordings do seem to skip pretty accurately.

Can anyone say whether this could in fact have anything to do with this issue, or what else might cause it?
