I really like this gbpvr - thanks for making it available. I've been looking around for 2 days before finally registering and asking for this help. You might be able to point the answer.
I have two leadtek usb dongle gold tuners on my acer revo with atom 230, running xp pro. Gbpvr has been running very well. Here is my set up:
Tuner 1: is connected to an antenna pointing to a tv transmitter A (horizontal polarisation).
Tuner 2: is connected to another antenna pointing to tv transmitter B (vertical polarisation).
The two transmitters are about 90 degrees apart from our house.
The reason for using two antennas is that transmitter A is often vandalised, so we use transmitter B which is much further away (>10x) as a backup.
Gbpvr can receive signals from both transmitters. But the final result of the config is that the channels are combined, therefore rendering the second tuner idle all the time when changing channel.
In other words, tuner 1 receives programs: ABC, SBS, Seven, Nine and Ten; and tuner 2 also receives identical programs - because it seems that gbpvr uses the channel name as primary key to match to the broadcast EPG, it simply combines them.
If NPVR solves this problem, I am more than happy to use it.
Can you please help i.e. what are the tricks to make gbpvr not to combine same programs from two tuners. Note that the channel from the two transmitters are not overlap, i.e. Tuner 1 receives channel 56 (ABC), 59 (SBS), 62 (Seven), 64 (Nine), 67 (Ten) while tuner 2 receives channel 34 (ABC), 36 (SBS), 40 (Seven), 41(nine), 43 (ten).
Has anyone else with a Satellite multiswitch tried to use NPVR?
I am having issues getting the config screen to work with NPVR - in that it doesnt appear to swap between the inputs.
Under GBPVR i could set up capture sources with LNB Frequency LO , switch frequency (generally 22000 or 0), and the the polarisation would be in the satellite frequency file.
As a couple of the KU Satellites receivable in NZ are only on one polarity - the H pol on one imput would be diff sat to the V pol.
Its an 8 input multiswitch - which is treated as A and B - each with 22khz on/off , and then V and H from there (which technically is meant for 4 dual pol KU imputs).
My Optus D1 input is A / 22khz off - and NPVR gets to that. I cannot however get it to change to any of the other inputs.
Also as i could have 2 satellites off one grouping (i.e. one on H and one on V) - I suspect that means i would have to combine the 2 satellites input files into one, as its no longer possible to create a capture source per satellite... rather you have the input method (diseq A / 22khz on) to an input file, so both the frequencies for H and V would need to be present (irrelevant of which satellite they actually are).
Sorry if this speil does not make any sense.
Is anyone else with any type diseq switch (not just multiswitch) having any issues? if not - how did you config npvr to work?
Given that the signalling works perfectly under GBPVR - im curious what im doing wrong?
Hi all, I have been using GBPVR and reading the forum for quiet a while but now need some help. I always have been able to find solutions to any problems.
Comcast is finalyzing their switch to digital the end of this month and I am trying to get the IR blaster to control the DTA which is a model DCI105COM1. I have a HVR1600 in a XP running SP3 using the analog portion of the board. I am running 1.4.7 GBPVR.
I have searched thru the WIKI and believe I know how to configure the recording source (fixed channel, external tuner and channel 4), channel changer (.exe channel changer pointinting to HaupBlast.exe) configurations properly. I have the IR blaster plugged into the IR port of ther HVR-1600 and the blaster directly over the receiver of the DTA. I have run the BlastCfg (version 7.3.28025) and selected Comcast cable box and it gives Codeset 0085 as only choice. I can see the bud flashing when I click on the IR channel test button but the DTA does not change channels. I also have selected advanced Config and selected Learning and pointed the Comcast remote at the IR receiver bud and it always fails to learn.
I have Googled this model DTA and do not get many hits and nothing that helps. I have searched different ways thru the forum and have not found any threads that help. If I hold down the INFO button on the Comcast remote for 5 seconds several diag screens come up and the DTA says Thomson as a manufacture.
Has anyone been able to get this same combination of DTA & Hauppauge IR blaster to work? I have seen some referance to the USB-UIRT blaster which I will purch if it would learn the codes. I also have seen possibly that this DTA is XMP protocol and 56Khz but not positive.
Am I only one, who still miss working dvb-subtitles? There is possibility to choose subtile, but nothing
happen.
In live tv, channel changing last forever, if it doesn't freeze totally. In NPVR.log, there is many, many
lines regarding subtitles. Is it possible, that hesitating with channel changing could be related to this
dvb subtitle issue? Sorry my english.
Been using NPVR for a few months now since the first beta, and have found over time that it's getting less stable for me. Currently whenever I try and record something it will work once or twice then fail part way through recording the program.
When this happens NPVR is showng the program as recording in NPVR, but it never stops. At this stage if I try and delete a program in NPVR then NPVR will hang as well. I then have to exit NPVR, restart the NRecord service, then restart NPVR again. At this stage I get a load of missed recordings with message like "Recording device not running" for the missed recordings, then it works again for one or two recordings.
I cant see anything obvious in the logs, but have attached them just iin case. Happened this evening whilst recording "Chuck".
Also found that sometimes Nrecord.exe is crashing (but not always) so have attached a log file created in case this helps as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

How do I enable close captions/subtitles?
I already tried "Enable DVB subtitles" in Misc and "ctrl-y" while playing live TV, but they don't work.
I'd also like it to be enabled in recordings.
I wanted to ask if anyone could help me figure out why my new installation with a Hauppauge 1250 isn't working for me. NPVR is running, I scanned channels and they are showing in the guide. But when I choose to view live TV or watch a show on the guide, I just get a black screen, no audio or video. Do you know why this is happening and how to fix? I tried all the different decoders, but it makes no difference.
I read something on one post about registering a .dll or something along those lines. Something about the Arcsoft decoder not being available "system wide". Problem is the post wasn't very detailed and I am not sure how to go about doing this process (or which file this is even referring to).
EDIT: Oh yeah, another issue... how do you get the remote to function in NPVR?
Recently I started getting the following error when UltraXML was completing its process (during the "Writing out lists..." step.
[INDENT]Error: Writing Registry Value
The type of the value object did not match the specified RegistryValueKind or the object could not be properly converted.[/INDENT]
I think this error comes from value being written to the registry being too large. I forget the value in my registry, but it was over 2147483648 (2 GB).
In order to correct this error set the following registry value to 0. This will set your "to Date" counter to 0.
I note npvr has a disable option for each tuner. Is such a thing possible with gbpvr or is there a sneaky way to stop the recording service attaching to a tuner? Is it possible to edit the existing tuners to non-existant devices without upsetting things?
I ask because I would like to let gbpvr keep running to double check for upcoming season recordings that are not yet in a loaded EPG. I am deleting them from gbpvr as they are populated into npvr
When I'm playing a divx file on my NMT (with of course the native player of the NMT, mono), there are no subtitles (.srt file). I do get the subtitles using the mvp server of gbpvr, and I believe it used to work for npvr too.
