  QAM recording fails
Posted by: EJCastellanos - 2010-08-03, 03:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have set up the digital tuner on my HVR2250 and the results are disappointing. More often than not, the TS streams are empty. I see mentions of failure in the logs, but I have no idea why. I do know sometimes when watching the HVR usint WinTV, I need to tune twice to the channel

System:
Windows 7 64 Ultimate
HVR1600 (latest drivers from Hauppauge)
HVR2250 (latest drivers from Hauppauge)
GBPVR - I need to keep GBPVR until I get a NMT in house.

I am attaching the logs. Does NPVR do any better? Does NPVR handle the HDHomeRun any better? Is there a more detailed set of instructions for manual scanning with the HDHomeRun?

I appreciate all the work you put into GBPVR. It really is a great piece of software. I am just getting caught up in the cycle of failing tuners and the digital transition.

Thank you

My wish-view recordings while watching live tv
Posted by: pcostanza - 2010-08-02, 11:36 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

I feel bad sharing what I'd like to see in NPVR since I've done nill to add to the experience but I'd like to be able to view both recording programs as well as scheduled recordings while in live tv. Or at least a box showing live tv or in the background.
I know I can use the settings menu do this but it's not as nice as having pressing a button on the remote or a hot key on the keyboard and viewing the info much like the tv guide below live tv.
I'd gladly donate a few $$$ to anyone who takes this on.

ATI 650 on cable -- QAM OK, no analog
Posted by: PTG - 2010-08-02, 11:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (22)

I have searched the forum with no luck.

I am running GB-PVR 1.4.7 using a CableTV source. I cannot see analog on my ATI 650 using GB-PVR. TuningAssistant.exe shows all analog channels. GB-PVR shows the Clear QAM.

I have attached my logs. All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

  New Zealand Diseqc search
Posted by: PTW96 - 2010-08-02, 09:43 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hi Guy's

Can anyone suggest a good quality Diseqc switch 4x1 that is available in NZ and if you know, if it works with Hauppauge Nova-s plus

So far I have tried:

Gecen GD-41A

and have spoken to Freeview about the
Pacific Satellite unit they have (but they are unsure if it will work with my card)

Cheers

  Media\Show Directory
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-08-02, 07:41 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (12)

Sub, would it be possible to create a PluginHelperFactory() function to normalize filenames for storing to the Media\Show folder. Using this there would be a consistent way to write and look files in the folder?

Some of the things I would like it to do,

- ToLower();
- parse out invalid path and filename characters.
- remove trailing "®"
- TrimEnd(' ');
- Replace(" and ", " & ");

I just installed EWA and it looks awesome. I noticed I have multiple genres showing up when using the search. How do I get rid of that?

NPVR not recognising Svideo Input for Channel Changer (Post copied from GBPVR)
Posted by: jksmurf - 2010-08-02, 06:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I think I might know what's skew-whiff here. i.e. I can't see it sending a signal to the USB-UIRT because the selected input is Cable-Box to to one of the Cards S-Video Ports. It's the Cable-Box the Blaster is attached to.

It seems from the message below that it wants to change the Device's (PVR-150) internal Analog channel changer. What I did wrong, I think was import via an XMLTV a bunch of channels and mistakely forgot to change to SVideo input.

However when I try to do this, I can select "SVideo" and cable but what do I select for Country?
Also when I look back it reverts to Analog Tuner forthat device - I get the analog fuzzy screen, it doesn't seem to be sticky choosing SVideo and Cable?

Code:
2010-08-02 23:52:10.596 [INFO][3] Running blaster: C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\USBUIRTSend.exe "C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\IRDefs\HKNowBB YX-5218A.dat" 671 2010-08-02 23:52:12.358 [DEBUG][3] About to tune graph to: <tuning> <type>Analog</type> <locator> <channel>671</channel> <country>1</country> <input>cable</input> <source>SVideo</source> <fixed>2</fixed> </locator> </tuning>

I also got a couple of nasty errors when I chose RF (I think) esp. when I selected listen ...

  Capture source names
Posted by: imilne - 2010-08-02, 10:24 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

I display the names of capture sources in the System plugin eg ("Pinnacle PCTV 3010iX BDA DVBT Tuner (DVB-T)"). Someone has asked if they could override the names, as they can be quite verbose.

The easiest way I can see to do that is just to change the stored name in the database (CAPTURE_SOURCE.name). Is there any danger in doing that? Hopefully all the links are from its OID rather than its name?

  GBPVR display issues
Posted by: EJCastellanos - 2010-08-02, 06:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have installed GBPVR on a new Windows 7 box. Now, I am unable to use GBPVR to view any videos or live TV on the box itself. The streaming to the MVP seems to work fine for analog recorded shows but not those captured digitally using the TS Mux.

Installed is a HVR2250 and a HVR1600. I have setup all 3 tuners for analog cable on both cards. I have only set up the digital tuner on the HVR2250. I realize (now) that the HVR2250 can record two channels (including multiplexed shows on one digital QAM channel) at a time.

GBPVR is capturing the recordings. Initially, that was not the case, but a reboot seems to have set the card into a state that works.

Now, any video recorded by GBPVR is not visible on the PC running GBPVR, but on the TS streams, sound is heard.

All TS video is not being served to the MVP I have attached. The analog recordings stream fine, just not the digital ones.

Any guidance would be helpful. If I need to just skip GBPVR and move to NPVR, I am only hesitant because of the "beta" tag.

Thank you for all the work you all do.

  Windows Home Server
Posted by: stangdaman - 2010-08-01, 07:42 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I am in the middle of putting together a server and all the hardware is installed but I am a bit split on what I would like to install for an OS. I initially wanted to go with Windows7 so I would have mediacenter on it and if I decided to add some xbox360s later down the road I could use the extender. However, the more I think about it I don't have any extenders right now and overall prefer GBPVR. I think Windows Home Server may be a better fit but since it doesn't have Media Center on it I need some other solution. I think I've heard that GBPVR will work on WHS but I haven't seen anything definitive. Can I install GBPVR onto WHS and is there anything I should watch out for with this? Will tuner, video drivers etc be the same as windows7 or vista or how will those work? I am kind of thinking that if it will install on WHS then if I decide to go with an extender later down the road I can always look at the Popcorn Hour or something like that instead.
