  GBPVR log files
Posted by: zonko - 2010-07-02, 07:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hi

Can someone take a glance at these logs. All I did was update the graphics driver and it broke. I tried reinstalling but no dice.

Thanx

  New Systems Build
Posted by: elbryyan - 2010-07-02, 05:41 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I'm looking for a new build for a client PC for our bedroom. It's been a while since i've looked into MB's and such since I built my main machine in the living room somewhere around 5 years ago. What i'm looking for is a cheap solution that has onboard video good enought to play OTA 1080i broadcast here in the US smoothly. It'll be hooked up to a standard tv so a 'tv out' svideo port might be required unless theres another way to convert the video with adapters.

Once sub releases the official npvr i'll be upgrading to windows 7 on both the main and client pc's.
I'm going to start researching it myself but thought I would ask here in case others have looked into it more recently. Thanks.

avermedia hybrid volar max analog detection support
Posted by: bspurloc - 2010-07-02, 04:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am testing out an avermedia hybrid volar max USB, gb pvr doesn't find this tuner when searched in analog mode am I missing something?

digital mode it finds it.
I know the tuner works fine in analog mode as I can use it with honestech and home theater etc finding all the analog channels.
Any tricks or changes to get gbpvr to see it in analog mode or am I missing a setting in gbpvr because its a hybrid tuner?
thanks

  Comskip & seek combined
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-07-02, 04:04 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

I don't know if this has requested before, but if comskip is enabled, I think it would be nice if a user asked to skip into a commercial which results with with an immediate skip to the time past the commercial, that NPVR would jump directly to the commercial end point.

  Decoder - Channels questions
Posted by: RichU - 2010-07-02, 03:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Suggestion: some guidance on decoders would help. After I used NPVR to get my channels, using XMLTV approach from GB-PVR, I only saw black screens. Couldn't tell if anything was working or not. I then tried a few "MPEG" choices for the MPEG slot. One, Ulead, gave an exception error and failed miserably. An ATI one gave me half a screen of TV, with the rest "smeared." Then, Cyberlnk gave me full picture!Smile

But no sound. For AC3 I have an AC3 filter and that gave me sound as well So I now get TV picture and sound when using Live TV and TV Guide - Watch. Cool! Will do a test recording soon.

But when changing these settings, and avoiding all the others, I'm flying blind as I have no useful knowledge of the options...just trying, a, then b, then c, and so on. Don't know if I should even try for the other decoder settings, or just leave them alone. I don't know what they are for.

CHANNEL - can I change channels while on Live TV? When in Guide, it makes sense that the show/channel I click on shows up. But in Live TV it comes up with the last channel I used in TV Guide, and I don't see how to pick a different channel.

Also, is it possible to change the channel numbers? I tried to do that in the Bulk map, to change npvr's channel 1 to 7.1, and so on, the actual channel number (OTA), but it didn't take.

Getting there! Thanks! It seems slick when it works.

  SRT files with NMT?

NPVR does not support SRT files. Is there any way to get MVPMCX2 to display them?

How to Reduce CPU loading during HD Live TV and Play Back?
Posted by: TheShadow - 2010-07-02, 01:18 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

I am still trying to get finish a build that I started many months ago. I can record 2 HD channels and only load the CPU 15%. But when I watch a HD signal (TV or recorded) it load 80%+. I added the ASUS ENG240 video card and it was an improvement in quality from using the onboard graphics.

I was hoping that the video card would take more of the loading. It may be that I still have not configured it correctly. Should I expect this high of the CPU loading? I would appreciate any suggestions as how I could improve performance.

  Hauppage 1800 s-video question
Posted by: DontBeAfraid - 2010-07-02, 12:29 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I managed to get s-video working in pvrx2 with this card... There seem to be less options with NPVR although it is WAY easier to setup now. Anyways I was wondering if anyone could help a noob out? I got it to find all my regular channels, just not the s-video input.

  Tray Icon Requests
Posted by: Anthony - 2010-07-01, 08:31 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

A couple of requests for the NPVR tray icon...

1. Some indicator that NPVR is recording. GBPVR used to turn green during recording. NPVR seems to stay black all the time.

2. In the Show Status display, allow the option of right clicking to cancel a recording in progress.

3. Add a "restart recording service" option to the right click tray menu. Occasionally I'll accidentally stop the service from the task menu, or some other activity, or just want to restart it without rebooting my computer.

4. Add a direct "Settings" option to the tray menu.

5. Add an option to go directly to the TV Guide when starting NPVR.

Thanks,

Anthony
