'Expose M3U/XMLTV to other apps' update
Posted by: three6zerocool - 2023-02-01, 01:43 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

Hello..  in April 2021,  Sub replied to a forum question with this:

'You can get an m3u out of it using:
http://localhost:8866/service?method=channel.m3u

For this to work though, you need to have ticked 'Allow unauthenticated access for streaming Live TV / Recordings' on the Settings->Access page.'

and also this response:

'I've added a http://localhost:8866/service?method=channel.xmltv for the next build, which will enable you to get listings as well.'

My question being, has the listings method mentioned above been implemented.as of the current build of NextPVR?

  LibreElec NextPVR Server
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2023-01-31, 03:20 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (4)

I recently installed latest LibreElec 10 on an old Windows 7 era Pentium laptop to try the NextPVR server software which is now a built in option. It was far easier to install than on ordinary Linux and possibly easier than Windows. Once installed setup is via the same web app. As I have a SAT>IP sever there was no need to connect any tuner. A scan found all the expected channels and I was able to make a recording to the local disk and play it on one of my NextPVR clients.

Later as a test I temporarily replaced my normal Windows 10 NextPVR server disk in my almost 10 years old HP Microserver with the LibreElec disk. I was pleasantly surprised that it detected what I thought would be a rather obscure DVBSky S952 PCIe DVB-S card. I was less surprised that the Hauppauge dual DVB-T USB card was detected. It was the chip set that was detected not the tuner manufacturer in both cases. Both scanned and seemed to find the expected channels!!

The remaining problem is the EPG data for which I use EPG Collector to generate. I need to keep using it for compatibility with the programme IDs stored in the “Recently Deleted” data to “avoid duplicate recordings”. It can be persuaded to run under Linux but unsure at the moment it will run under LibreElec!

  Roku Version 11 OS Reports
Posted by: ceandra - 2023-01-30, 10:31 PM - Forum: Roku - Replies (3)

After a quick install and test, initial operation on Roku 11.5.0 appears seamless.

I will keep you updated if I discover issues. But it fired right up and played a previous recording without issue.

(Martin had asked for users with V11 to post here on experiences)

Thank
Chuck

Schedules direct not working with NextPvr
Posted by: Bied - 2023-01-30, 04:16 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

Problem with Schedules Direct not populating in NextPVR.    Contacted Schedules Ddirect and instructed by Kulagowaski ticket 22308.  He indicated that I should contact NextPvr Forum about why my system isn’t pulling down the 17 day of data.   The only information that might be pertinent is that I can get 9 hours each time I do an epg up-date.

  mac os
Posted by: sdennis91 - 2023-01-30, 01:02 PM - Forum: macOS - Replies (36)

I read the instructions to install on mac os. It says native, come to find out this is not true. The install consist of a zip with windows files in it. No where near native to mac. Everything runs good though for not being native, except nextpvr will not start on system boot, I have to run dotnet ./NextPVRServer.dll every time I wanna use nextpvr on mac. Again not native. Also the terminal window has to stay open while nextpvrserver is running. Again its not a native app. Could you make a native app for mac os that will run on boot. I use nextpvr on windows and use the kodi pvr addon. It was updated to use 2 or more servers at one time. I was gonna use my mac to reduce the load on my windows pc while watching and recording a show. Since mac don't have a native app for nextpvr, I can't do that.

NextPVR isn't working with comm skip
Posted by: Kappen - 2023-01-30, 02:44 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

I installed NextPVR and Comskip on my Jellyfin server and all seems to work well except NextPVR seems to be ignoring the EDL files with the commercial skips.  Its probably something stupid I'm missing but the instructions seemed simple Comskip is dropping .ELD .LOG and .TXT files in the live TV recording directory but I can't see anything in NextPVR to tell it to use it and all documentation indicates that it just should use it with default settings.  Any ideas? Any additional info or troubleshooting I can do?

Windows 11 - Blank EPG and no ch icons ?
Posted by: PVRbuff - 2023-01-29, 02:25 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (12)

I've just joined the forum, and I did do a search, but couldn't find any solution to my problem, but if I've missed anything, I apologise in advance !

First of all, it's a brilliant prog that I've been using for some time with total success.  I'm an ex-Windows Media Centre user for recording, that I kept going as long as I could after Microsoft dumped it and then until they sabotaged the third party work-arounds. Sad

I use a twin tuner HDHomerun on my home network, and that also has been great for several years now,     with NextPVR as an excellent solution to my needs to record TV progs.

...Finally, to get to my problem,  I've just installed NextPVR on a brand new Windows 11 PC (a neat little fanless job with a very good spec), and it's working perfectly in all respects except the EPG is blank, and on a less important note, there's no channel icons either.

I have each channel set for "DVB/ATSC EPG" and I've tried the "empty EPG" and "Update EPG" buttons, but to no avail.

It's a twin tuner HDHomrun, and all of the channels have been found and can be viewed live and recorded manually.

The really strange thing is that I still have another installation on my previous Windows 10 PC, which still works perfectly and has a fully working EPG guide with the same settings, on the same network and using the same HDHomerun hardware.  The only difference between them that I can see is that one is on Windows 10, and the other is on Windows 11.

I've attached my log files, in case they can help resolve my problem.

  Internet radio recording streaming issue
Posted by: tds - 2023-01-28, 09:48 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (7)

I have an issue where recorded internet radio files don't play properly when streamed via jellyfin.   This may be more of a jellyfin issue, but thought I would ask here.

I record the audio stream (http://wbur-sc.streamguys.com/wburlive) using NextPVR, which creates a .ts file, which is containerized AAC file). That file plays fine in VLC and NextPVR, but when I add the directory to a library in Jellyfin and try to play on the local computer, a remote computer with Jellyfin client, or Jellyfin client on my Android phone, it starts to play then stutters, then posts "Playback Error. This client isn't compatible with the media and the server isn't sending a compatible media format".

I've tried a few other stations and get the same error.

I record OTA antenna tv video with a tuner using NextPVR, which also creates a .ts file, and they stream fine with jellyfin.  I'm thinking Jellyfin doesn't like the .ts format for some reason.

Also Jellyfin doesn't recognize the .ts files when I add a library as "Content type"  Music, so I have to add the library as Movies, then they show up in Jellyfin.

Anyone thoughts on what could be wrong?

I'm running Jellyfin and nextpvr on a Windows 10 desktop. Latest version of Jellyfin (10.8.9) and NextPVR (6.1.1.221106)

tds

I have some recording files I want to show up in "Recordings" folder in Kodi -
Posted by: djsinfl - 2023-01-28, 03:29 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

...to which sub-folder do I navigate in NextPVR to drop them in? They were originally recorded in NPVR 4.2.5 but I have upgraded to v6 and only the recordings post-update are currently in the Recorded TV folder...

Thanks, I am baffled but feel I am missing something basic here...

IPTV device to record Roku streams?
Posted by: bufulo - 2023-01-27, 07:46 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

I'm completely new to this IPTV stuff.  It seems really simple from all the searching I've done but I can't get anything to work so I must be missing something really basic.

So I have a Roku TV.  I watch OTA ATSC channels and streaming video (of which there are tons of channels) - all free.  I have a HTPC with NextPVR set up to record shows from the same OTA channels.  I set this up last year and haven't messed with (or even watched anything via the HTPC) until recently.  I had to mess with the EPG a bit to get it working again but it now seems to be working just fine.  I'd like to be able to use NextPVR to record shows from some of the same streaming channels I watch on my Roku TV - maybe half a dozen shows from half a dozen channels.

How can I find the M3U and EPG or whatever and set up NextPVR to record the shows I'm interested in?

Most of the searching I've done results in nothing but what appear to be scams, pirate crap, etc.  I pay nothing to watch them on the Roku TV, so I assume there must be a way to set up that stream on my HTPC and DVR using NextPVR but I'm going nuts trying to figure it out.  When I first played around with NextPVR a few years ago, I had this working somehow but am completely unable to get it working again.  Did I just get lucky and found working M3U and EPG information back then?  What am I missing?  Why is something that's totally free and seemingly so simple, so difficult to get good information about?  Does it have something to do with the stream providers only getting ad revenue if I use the Roku?  Does Roku collect viewing information and send it to the stream providers so they can charge the advertisers or what?  I seriously have no clue how any of this works!  Help!
