  Nmt / mvp?
Posted by: chrisevans1001 - 2010-02-21, 02:25 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (7)

Hi there,
I've been trying to decide between a 7MC or a gppvr setup for about a week now. Whilst I cannot currently installed gppvr ("installation ended prematurely because of an error" - I'm about to reinstall with windows 7 so probably won't be an issue then) it appears to provide everything I require with the prime advantage being extenders (7MC extenders no longer produced except xbox which isn't quiet).

I've been looking at the NMTs and the Hauppauge MediaMVP and trying to decide between them. I can pick up old MediaMVP (with just a scart port) on eBay for about £10 which is very nice.

How responsive are these though compared to the NMTs in terms of menu and video playback etc? Is there any particular disadvantage?

Also with multiple versions of the MVP - does the software work on them all?

I noticed there was a possibility of the A110 refurbished being sold off on the site again (I think!) so was just wondering whether it would be worth waiting for that rather than buying the newer MVPs for my HD TV as the price then comes in similar.

Apologies for the many questions and long first post!

Cheers.

Chris

Remote not working (BootIntoGBPVR)/GBPVR start another program -any ideas?
Posted by: fray_bentos - 2010-02-21, 02:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

This relates to getting GBPVR looking like a PVR and not a PC.

I've re-installed Windows XP this week and the stand alone filters pack.
I've used the BootIntoGBPVR guide on the Wiki - auto logging in a user but as GBPVR starts as the shell instead of Explorer the Ir.exe application does not start as the startup directory doesn't get called.

I have tried a suggestion to launch the IR app using a scheduled task but although it is in task manager it doesn't work until I have restarted the IR.exe program.

So can anyone suggest a way to make the IR.exe program work when GBPVR is started as the shell (or just make GBPVR launch another application/program when it starts) as I am trying to make GBPVR look like a stand alone product and not a computer. I really need to get this working.

(Hauppauge Nova-T PCI using 45 button Hauppauge remote on Windows XP with Hauppauge software installed).

  pvr-150 & win7 32 bit?
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2010-02-21, 10:44 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Just grabbed a PVR-150 (26xx) from flea bay to archive some VHS tapes that the wife wont chuck. I'm using win7 32, from the Hauppauge site it all should work but I cant get it to do anything in WinTV. I've tried s-video composite and rf into the 150 but I always get no signal in WinTV.

Before I send it back has anyone else had any joy with a 150 and Win7 32? Did you do anything special?

  PVRX2 White Screen
Posted by: thezfunk - 2010-02-21, 08:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hey guys,

My first post here. I think I have gotten pretty far but now I am in need of some assistance.

I have a Windows 7 machine with an Nvidia GTX275. I installed GB-PVR and when I go to run the PVRX2 all I see is white. The window for PVRX2 opens and instead of seeing the menu, it goes all white inside the window. I have seen posts about a red 'x' or something but I don't have that on my screen. Why am I not seeing the menu screen?

  EPG Source failed
Posted by: pduncan67 - 2010-02-21, 05:31 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I use schedules direct. I know my account is active as I can log into their web site and verify that my account expires 2-11-11.

I noticed tonight that there are no recordings pending and nothing listed in teh TV guide. When I went into the config tool - I see my EPG listed but when I try to update I get this error (not tyoing the whole thing here but did include a screenshot - see attached file):

"Your EPG source does not appear to be configured correctly. PLease ceck the EPG source...System.Net.WebException: the remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error"

This sounds like the problem isn't with GBPVR - or is it?

  Request for Xrecord - Multiple-Show Single-Action Archive?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2010-02-21, 05:26 AM - Forum: XSuite (Xrecord, XSearch, XGuide, CDK Scheduler) - Replies (5)

fla,

I have quite a number of shows (e.g. 16 in one instance) that record regularly and AFAIK to Archive these in XRecord you have to go into each one and acrhive them seperately, sixteen times, which ends up being quite a few keystrokes. Would it be possible, with not too much trouble, to request a feature under the first XRecord Screen (e.g. in "Ready" where the Icons show), to add an Archive option which Archives the whole bunch of shows at the same time, in one go?

Thanks!

Kristian

PVR-150, flashing color on one chan only ??
Posted by: Dave72 - 2010-02-21, 02:03 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I finally dug out my old PVR-150 and installed it for GBPVR use. We only get 3 channels OTA here, but this would add some selection to the stuff we watch.
I made a folded dipole for the center of freq range of the available channels. They came in fairly well, but the one channel that the wife really wants was having color problems.. the reds are sorta flashing in and out. So, I cut the antenna down to the exact freq (189 Mhz for channel 9 in this case), and the pic is perfect with no snow .. but the red flickering is still there.

I tried older drivers (yes, used hwclear), tried other apps (Wintv2000 and VLC both flicker the same). Output to my MVP flickers the same as on the pc. I tried another TV on the antenna and it was perfectly fine !

If my PVR150 is bad, wouldnt all channels be doing the same thing ? (isnt colour stuff after the rf/if stage ?).

Could it be something in my pc ? Where the heck would ya start tuning in there ?? This pc only has 2 PCI slots, one has my Nexus, the other has this PVR150. There is nothing on the other 3 pci-e slots and then the video card is in the long pcie slot.

Id get another tuner card, but it seems anything better than a pvr150 is about $160+

Posted by: hype - 2010-02-21, 01:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,

I got a new problem.
After watching live tv for about 5 minutes it just freezes.
If I switch to another channel, it runs again for about 1 minute.
Then I switch again and it freezes again.

Any ideas on this?
I attached the logs.

No Live TV - Kicks Back To Menu
Posted by: OldSkoolVWLover - 2010-02-20, 11:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Sub (or anyone else)-

Any chance you can help me out? As the title states, I select Live TV (or a current show from the guide), and it hangs for a second with blank screen then just kicks back to the menu. I have been running gbpvr for months now with no issues. A few months back I did a clean install of Windows XP on my HTPC and got everything set back up just fine. Now recently (the last few weeks or so), I can no longer watch Live TV. I have also had an issue with new one time only recordings failing, while all my series recordings continue to record just fine and are watchable with no issues.

I had figured that I had a error in my config file or somewhere else, so this morning I went and unistalled gbpvr (found that windows wasn't completely uninstalling so I renamed directory), and then reinstalled a completely clean install (in the normal directory). I am still getting no Live TV at this point, I have checked and I am pretty sure I have the tuner setup exactly as it was before. I have attached my logs....

My only thought is that somewhere outside of my GBPVR directory I have a file missing or corrupt. I have tried searching for this issue but have not found anything similar to my issue.

After looking a lil further before posting I found that in pvrx2.exe.log I am seeing this error at a point where it looks to me like Live TV is attempting to load "Unexpected error: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:7968".

When I found that, I assumed it can be anything, including firewall, the latest Windows XP update, etc. So I did go and disable my Ad-Aware Live protection, I also allowed PVR2.exe full access thru my McAfee firewall. I have not intentionally made any recent changed to gbpvr's access, but thinking an update to a program could have automatically blocked something I need open. One last note, when I allowed pvr2.exe full access, I then attempted to open Live TV and the blank screen pause was longer before returning to the menu, but I still did not get sound or picture.

If I am on the right path, please let me know what the minimal access gbpvr needs so that I am not opening up access to or from the HTPC that isn't needed.

Also I can still access some of my older logs and settings if needed. I figured trouble shooting the clean install would be the best. I am on a Win XP machine that I believe is currently up to date (all SP's and what not), when doing the clean install I also removed my C++ files and reinstalled vcredist_x86.

Thanks in advance-
