  USB UIRT Learning Function
Posted by: steve232 - 2010-02-02, 12:43 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm trying to learn the codes for a Comcast DTA DCI1011COM.

When I click New, the pop-up displays for a fraction of a second, then the next box says [Learning failed].

Is there a timeout setting some where?

Thanks
Steve

ffmpeg mpeg4 codec problem VBR TS file
Posted by: luttrell1962 - 2010-02-01, 11:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I have a batch file to run on a ts file that is 1080p, but says file is 60fps according ffmpeg. Looks like mpeg4 codec only supports 30fps. (I think this is my problem)

During the first pass I get a average of bitrate of 2200 but the second pass the mpeg4 codec complains that the bitrate is to low for the codec and errors out. codec below.

Code:
"D:\Program Files (x86)\Devnz\GBPVR\Third Party\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -y -i %1 -ab 128k -ac 2 -acodec libmp3lame -ar 44100 -deinterlace -f avi -threads 8 -pass 1 -b 5000k -minrate 0 -maxrate 10000k -bufsize 300k -vcodec mpeg4 -vtag xvid nul "D:\Program Files (x86)\Devnz\GBPVR\Third Party\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -y -i %1 -ab 128k -ac 2 -acodec libmp3lame -ar 44100 -deinterlace -f avi -threads 8 -pass 2 -b 5000 -minratek 0 -maxrate 10000k -bufsize 300k -vcodec mpeg4 -vtag xvid %2

I might need to convert the file to 30fps first and this may fix the problem.
DMO Mpeg4 Decoder DMO MPG4, mpg4, mp42, MP42 MPG4DECD.dll

VBR can really compress this file and still have good quality if I can get it to work. Do I need a different mpeg4 codec?

Whats a mpeg4s codec?

  Question about watching videos
Posted by: GAHart - 2010-02-01, 06:17 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

Currenlty I use GBPVR and I also have a PCH A-100. My son watches videos (mostly AVI files) that are stored on the computer that runs GBPVR. This just uses simple file sharing between that computer and the PCH. He likes to use GBPVR better because I used MetaDataGrabber and it shows the movie's poster and description. So my question is ... If you use GBPVR on the PCH he will see the nice menus and movie information, but the PCH will no longer use simple file sharing to play the movies right? Instead the GBPVR will process the file and stream the movie to the PCH from my understanding. So this is going to work the GBPVR computer much harder and may not give as good of results and he is getting with the PCH and simple file sharing. Can someone give the their experince/understanding ... pros/cons of doing this?

Thanks,
Greg Hart

  Weather2 Maps Labels Change Request
Posted by: LewE - 2010-02-01, 01:05 PM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - Replies (3)

The National High Temperature Maps (for the U.S.) identify each day as "Day 1", "Day 2", etc and the map itself identifies each day as "Monday", "Tuesday", etc.

Unfortunately, the National Precipitation Probability Map only identifies each day as "Day 1", "Day 2", etc and there is no Day of the Week identification in the map itself.

I assume that the identification in the map itself comes from Accuweather and you can't control it. It would be useful, however, if you could label the precipitation maps with a title like "Day 1 (Tuesday) National Precipitation Probability Map". Seeing at a glance how many days out the forecast is for is useful but identifying which day of the week that day is is also useful.

Waking up no longer working after standby?
Posted by: DrDDT - 2010-02-01, 10:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have the following behavior:

After a cold boot, I can get GBPVR to wake up my machine for recording just fine.
I see a line like:

2009-10-17 16:02:44.343 VERBOSE Asking Windows to be awake for recording (oid: 1) at 2009-10-17 19:42:30 (UTC 2009-10-17 17:42:30)

in my logging. This is how it is supposed to work.

Now for the strange part: This doesn't work anymore after I put my PC to sleep and it wakes up again. No more 'asking' line in the logging, after scheduling a new recording. I does still wake up to refresh the EPG though.

To fix this a have to restart the recording service. I'm using XP.

Any ideas?

  Manually adding channel problem
Posted by: dspdrew - 2010-02-01, 09:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

When I manually add a channel, it shows up in that capture device that I added it too with the channel number I gave it. When I check the "Channels" tab, it has the channel, but on there it shows it with the very last channel number, as if I never specified the channel number and left the default. This doesn't make sense to me. Is there some way to make the channel show the correct number?

  Quality Settings for Digital
Posted by: luttrell1962 - 2010-02-01, 08:51 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I've searched other posts. If I understand it correctly the broadcaster determines the recording quality for digital channels. So I take it that setting quality to medium or low will have no affect on digital channel recording.
Thanks

  Client getting .net error
Posted by: hasso - 2010-02-01, 06:44 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I've just installed an SSD drive and I'm finding that I'm getting a .net error when the client resumes from hibernate... even though the server is fully up and running. This wasn't happening before I started using the SSD drive. Is the drive too fast in that it brings up the client before network has been established? If I force quit the client GB-PVR and restart it, it works fine.
