Mapping an existing channel duplicates all channels
Posted by: Esteban - 2010-01-22, 12:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Everytime I map an additional channel in the config/capture sources tab, all epg channels are duplicated and added to the list of channels when the xlmtv.xml is updated. The result is a big mess, and the only way I've been able to fix it is to empty the epg in capture sources and start over again. It gets tiresome, since I have to map each one manually.

In effect, I can't edit the channel mapping. I can only start over each time I want to map and enable a channel that is already included, but not mapped or enabled in the channel list. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm using mc2xml to update xmltv.xml

Client Live TV and wireless network
Posted by: ScaryBox - 2010-01-21, 09:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I'm wondering if there is any solutions out there. I have GBPVR running on a puter perfectly. Unfortunatly it is connected to the home network wirelessly. I'm trying to install GBPVR clients on other computers in the house. Everything works great except I can't seem to get live tv to play on the clients.
Screen goes black for a few seconds (maybe 20 secs) then returns to the main menu.

I read the wiki and there is mention that wireless may not work, but some people have had success. I've tried everything I can think of.

Love the program! Hoping someone can help.

Ken

Norw. subtitles on live-tv, finnish on playback
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2010-01-21, 09:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm having trouble getting correct subtitles on all channels that transmits DVB-subtitles. Viewing the shows live gives me norwegian subtitles, but playing back a recording gives me finnish subtitles (that I don't understand an inch of). Timeshift (ie. pause/play) however gives me no subtitles at all. An example can be found at my ftp site (ftp://orion.servebeer.com - log in as anonymous and leave your email address as password, download at will), the folder "Titanics Tragic Sister" containg a typical example from History channel HD. Another problem is that National Geog. HD gives me danish subtitles (that I can understand, but nevertheless annoying), example: "PÃ¥ leting etter Noas syndeflod".

For those channels that transmits subtitles using teletext it works fine, provided one can find out what pagenumber to use... Since all that information is in the stream I suggest Config app (more specific the "Map digital channels" function) should find the pagenumber that corresponds to the language set as prefered subtitle-language and insert this number automatically.

  Power DVD problems
Posted by: time_lord - 2010-01-21, 08:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi, I reinstalled my box a couple of months ago (XP SP3) and did a clean install of gbpvr. I can't recall the details but I think I basically exported my old database and imported into the new setup to retain all my recordings. Other than that it should be a 'clean' setup.

Anyway, I've had trouble getting video codes to run smoothly - it took me a lot of fiddling to get right last time and I'm sure it was simply solved when I installed powerdvd. So I've now installed powerdvd8 on my new box, but it doesn't appear under 'video decoder' or 'H.264 decoder' in the gbpvr setup. I tried pdvd9 and same problem. I came across this 'SAF codecs pack' and not much luck there....
At one stage I did see a pdvd mpeg2 codec listed but (I've tried so many different things that I can't recall what combo of setups enabled that), but at this time there was no corresponding pdvd codec under the H.264 codec settings... and the H.264 codec is the one that I need, surely. (Using an HVR2200, DVB-T freeview in NZ.)

Basically, any ideas or tips on what I might be doing wrong?

  No channels with VideoMate DVB-T300
Posted by: nickhoare - 2010-01-21, 07:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I have scanned and updated with all sorts of settings but I get no channels and no EPG. Scanning my local region or All Regions (57) finds no channels. The SIGNAL/QUALITY sometimes show a value in QUALITY but always shows 0 in SIGNAL.

I notice that the GBPVRRecordingService does not seem to use any CPU, other than that on starting. Doesn't this do the comms with the TV card? Its logs show no errors though.

The ComproDTV 4.2 software has no trouble and I can receive all channels.

The attached log files are a sample set I created and do not represent all the things I have tried.

(ERROR [5] was clearly a red herring - not getting it now)

Mapping preview pane and choppy OTA HD troubles
Posted by: decarius - 2010-01-21, 05:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello,

I heard great reviews about GBPVR and decided to try it out after having too much trouble with WIN7 WMC.

Unfortunately, I have a few bugs and I hope you guys can help me out.

Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz
4Gb of Ram 800mhz DDR
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
2 Hauppauge WinTV 950Q usb tuners

The first problem arises when I am mapping the digital channels (clear QAM) to my EPG (I got a shedulesdirect account). The program finds the channels alright but I can't see the preview pane (its black). I do get sound however. I tried reinstalling the program (and I did install the vcredist_x86 plugin). Am I missing a few more pluggins? Also, I managed to map a couple of QAM channels but when I watch them I also get only audio, the screen is black. This has never happened before with other media centre programs. Help?

The second problem is that the Digital channels found during the scan show their numbers (ex: 111.87) but does not show the name, instead it is written Unknown. My service provider is Cogeco in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. I guess I could try and do it manually but without the preview pane, it is very difficult/impossible even). Is there any help for this?

The third problem happens when I am watching OTA channels with the PVR (I use my second 950Q tuner for ATSC and the install and epg worked like a charm). The channels looks choppy (not smooth), and that is for several channels, HD ones included. I am sure it is not my computer and tuners because I've used them in WMC and they worked just fine. I know it is not my antenna because I get maximal signal on all but 1 OTA channel and they all appear great in other software and my built in TV tuner on my lcd. Could it be that the dbpvr program is slowing things down for the processing of HD OTA channels from a usb device?

Any help would be very much appreciated. I would really want to stick with DBPVR but I need to fix these problems, especially the third one.

Thanks!

Edit: I managed to fix the choppy problems by changing the codecs. I am still having issues with the preview pane and also live tv won't work. It just freezes on a black screen and nothing happens. help?

Win 7 (64) Not updating registry
Posted by: thomasaherzog - 2010-01-21, 05:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I'm setting up a new PC Win 7 64 bit Professional. I have GBPVR working but have a few issues with some utiltiies/plugins. In researching one problem I see that there was not any registry entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Devnz as a matter of fact the key is not there at all from the install. Is it needed, should I add it maually or is there any advice to reinstalling differently.

Thanks in advance

  Not recording
Posted by: PuffY - 2010-01-21, 03:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Finished setting up GBPVR today but it is unable to record anything. I updated the EPG fine and GBPVR shows the programs in the TV guide fine. I click record on a program and that is fine, even when you view the Manage Recordings page it shows the program as being recorded. The problem is after the show finishes, it disappears from Manage recordings page. I went into the folder where the program is supposed to be saved to and it gives a folder with the name of the program but the folder is empty! Help please.

  Duplicate Recordings
Posted by: XJW - 2010-01-21, 10:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (21)

I have setup season recordings for a number of shows. The system is recording up to 3 copies of each episode simultaneously. All 3 copies of the show will have exactly the same start time or will start within a couple of minutes of each other.

When I look at the TV Guide I can see that the shows are duplicated in the guide. When I look at the Pending Recordings screen I can see that the system is scheduling multiple recordings of the same show at or close to the same time.

If I delete the show from the "Recurring" recordings menu and then reload the EPG, all of the duplicates will dissappear from the TV Guide. The duplicates are not being downloaded as part of the EPG.

It appears that the duplicates are being accumulated by GBPVR. I am guessing that the EPG is being updated over several days with perhaps small changes to the start time. GBPVR is keeping the previously scheduled recording and adding a new copy with perhaps a start time 1 minute later.

I did not see this problem in the previous release of GBPVR.

Note: I have ticked the "Complete EPG Reload" option on the Capture Sources screen.

Is there a parameter in GBPVR that would prevent the system from scheduling recordings at the same time on the same channel ? Perhaps a timer that prevented recordings from starting within 3 minutes of each other ?

Can GBPVR be setup to schedule recordings based on just todays copy of the EPG. It appears to keep recordings from several days EPG reloads resulting in the duplicates based on old schedules.

Any ideas for debugging this would be appreciated.

Syvio 200A - will mvpmcx2 work with this unit?
Posted by: forzaKGB - 2010-01-21, 10:23 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

Hi

I just saw an offer in Sweden about a mediaplayer Syvio 200A. It is about half the price of a NMT-A110 and I need another extender to place in the bedroom. But a must have is GB-PVR on it as I currently have in the livingroom.

I would like to know if you know (or at least can make an educated guess) if mvpmcx2 would work on this unit?
