  Ceton Digital Cable Quad-Tuner Card
Posted by: mkenyon2 - 2010-01-20, 04:20 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (37)

Just heard about this coming out in Q1 this year:

Quote:The Ceton Digital Cable Quad-Tuner Card is the world's first multi-tuner PC card for watching digital cable TV on the PC, including support for premium cable channels. It enables Media Center PCs to play or record up to four live channels of HDTV at once, and stream live HD channels or recordings to multiple HDTVs throughout the home, all from a single cable connection and a single CableCARD™. Replace your cable set-top boxes and their costly monthly rental fees and enjoy premium cable TV throughout the home, all from a single PC. With the Ceton Digital Cable Quad-Tuner Card your Media Center PC becomes a complete entertainment platform for all your media, including premium cable TV.

I know CableCard isn't the best technology. But right now in my area, if you want to build a box, you need STBs and blasters.

  Where to stay in Sacramento?
Posted by: whurlston - 2010-01-20, 08:14 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

I'll be taking a trip to Sacramento in the near future and I was thinking of staying at Staybridge Suites on 140 Promenade Circle. Normally I don't care where I stay or what the area is like but my wife will be with me on this trip so I'm a little more cautious. If anyone is familiar with the area, is it "wife friendly" or is there somewhere else that you would recommend?

HDHomeRun - Could Not Find Channels
Posted by: jdconnel - 2010-01-20, 06:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (18)

I am running Windows XP SP3
I have and HDHomeRun Box - Setup Version 20090305a
I have installed GB-PVR 1.4.7

At first the program wasn't detecting the HDHomeRun boxes, but after editing the config and entering my box numbers, that went smoother.

HOWEVER, when I click to update the DVB EPG, no channels are found.
I get "No Channels Found".
I have almost full bar signal strength in TotalMedia, and I'm able to watch broadcasts over the air on VLC.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 1.31. That version just crashed.
I figured I might as well try and get the latest and greatest up and going.

This "Seems" to be a popular problem, but I have yet to find a definite solution.
I am new to this, and it appears that this isn't your old "easy setup".

Any help would be much appreciated. This program looks to have a ton of potential if I can get it running.

  live TV settings?
Posted by: Jeepman007 - 2010-01-20, 05:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (16)

I just purchased a TV tuner card and am a total novice to alot of the terminology so please bear with me.

I am not happy with MS MCE and ATI medi center is worse.

My setup:
Windows 7 64bit
8800GTS
4Gb ram
ATI TV Wonder HD 600 Hybrid
GB-PVR vs 1.4.7
I have the channel guide working with Schedules Direct but LIve TV isn't displaying. Alot of changes back I was able to view TV in the TunningAssistant, but that has changed and now all I get is a blank screen. I was never able to view TV in GB-PVR. I have tried all or almost all of the selections under the Play back section. I setup the capture source as per the direction where I found to setup the TV guide. Under the TunningAssistan I was able to watch prior to changes using ATI 550 and All-in-Wonder Elite. Both found all the channels. I am attaching the logs.

Thank you for any help. This program so far looks exactly what I need to watch my recorded TV over my network.

Cannot get Hauppauge Win TV-HVR-1250 to work
Posted by: Richdem - 2010-01-20, 05:38 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi All,

I desperately want to try GBPVR but I cannot get the software to work with my capture card, I have tried many different times to run the config software to add a capture device but it never finds any channels, I have downloaded the EPG in XML format and tried different capture devices without success.

The only time I did find any channels during the scan was selecting the 1250(QAM) but none of the channels had names so I could not map them.

I am using cable straight into the tuner card, I believe it is NTSC (Analog cable) but there is no option to select a NTSC versoin of my card

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank you

Richard

Won't Play More than Two in a Row Fix Coming?
Posted by: jtokach - 2010-01-20, 03:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Sub,

I'm sorry, but I don't recall if this is a GBPVR issue or mvpmcx2, but I was wondering if the issue where NMT/MVP won't play more that two files in a row will be in the next release?

Hi there,

Was wondering if the rmvb format is not supported?
When I goto my Videos I can see my other files with eg. avi and mpg extensions but rmvb files do not appear.
I can play avi mpg and mp4 files without any problem.

Any help is appreciated thanks !

  New to MVP- configuration questions
Posted by: commogod - 2010-01-20, 02:00 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

I've been using GB-PVR for about 3 years and have loved it. Now I've got a Hauppauge Media MVP and have it hardwired in, and get my GB-PVR to pull up great. I'm using an HVR-1600. Cool
My problem is how do I get it to play ISO files? I've read all the WIKI files and searched the forum but is there an "easy" way to get this thing to work? I started researching the fix but couldn't come up with a way to figure out a way to make it work with the Daemon tools and even VLC but didn't get either to work, probably because of my limited scripting skills.

Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated and it can't be described in too simple of terms for me (or even screenshots).

ATI 650 PCIE tuner video but no audio
Posted by: zxt - 2010-01-20, 01:00 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Sorry to be such a noob and ask stupid questions, I have searched the forum and wiki, but I'll be dead by the time I get through it all so I figured I would tell you my troubles and take the flogging. Big Grin

My goal is to watch and record over the air digital TV here in the US.

I installed an ATI 650 PCIE tuner on a Gigabyte 965P_DS3 motherboard with an Intel P965 chipset. I am also using a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS video card and Sound Blaster X-Fi for audio. When I installed the tuner I used some drivers from the AMD website, as I had read on the web that a lot of people were having trouble with the software and drivers on the disc.
I am using windows XP Pro SP3.

I installed GB_PVR and the vcredist_x86.exe file.
I set up the channels using the DVB EPG Broadcast as the EPG source.
I am able to watch live TV, have done a manual recording, and can play them back. The video looks pretty good.
The problem is I have no audio, not in live, or play back. I have tried changing some of the selections on the playback tab, but nothing.
I am not getting any error boxes poping up or anything.

I suspect I missed installing something or neglected to check a checkbox somewhere, but I have not been able to find it.
Attached are my logs.
Any help would be appreciated.

  Install issues
Posted by: Ubermensch - 2010-01-20, 12:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello,

I've tried to install the latest version of GBPVR and keep getting the following error when I try to launch the config application. PVRX2 simply crashes.

System:
Win XP
Hauppage 150

I've already installed .net 2.0 and vcredist per instructions in the forum.

I have no idea where to begin to sort this out. Any help?

Thanks!

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
