  tuner device keeps becoming "unavailable"
Posted by: RobBob - 2022-12-03, 01:33 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

I have a (admittedly inexpensive) USB tuner stick that has always worked fine with NPVR ver 4. Now I'm getting issues with NPVR ver 6.1.1 apparently not recognizing it. The tuner shows up in Windows 10 Device Manager (with no errors), it shows up in the NPVR Devices list (BDA 2870 TVtuner #0), it scans and pulls in all the ATSC channels in my area, the EPG updates, but when I close NPVR and reopen it, the device shows "unavailable" in the Device Settings. When I try Live TV I get "Unable to find available capture device". I have "Scan devices at startup" checked. The only way I can seem to get it to work is to rescan the channels every time - quite a pain in the behind. Don't know what else to do...

Thanks

Posted by: superray2 - 2022-12-02, 01:22 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (1)

when i try to do a channel update i get the following message: Failed to download channel list: The remote server returned an error: (454) .
i contacted my provider who can't help.
i suspect the problem is at his end, but would like your opinion as well, as i don't have a problem with my second provider.
thanks

  No manual EPG update option?
Posted by: RobBob - 2022-12-02, 03:41 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

Hi,
I just installed the latest 6.1.1 (221106) NPVR and cannot find any way to manually update the EPG. Help says it's in General settings, but I see nothing there, or anywhere else. Clicking on Device & Channels in the client just takes me to the web-based Settings page, and I can find nothing there.
Older versions had this. Has it been removed? I hope not - I used it all the time prior to setting up a recording as I don't leave my PC running 24/7, and don't have a set time I turn it on to set up an automatic update. I'd gladly go with a way to have it automatically update the EPG on startup if there's an option to do that.
FWIW, I have a USB TV tuner "stick" pulling in ATSC channels (38 total) that all show up in the Guide.

Thanks...

Current extras tuner process not stopped when recording on another channel is schedul
Posted by: greatwhitenorth - 2022-12-02, 01:00 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (4)

Testing my new linux NextPVR setup for about 3 weeks now. Slow rolling to make sure everything works as expected but was also waiting for an ESR meter from China as my old Bell boxes need some new capacitors...

First week and a half: scheduled to record 3 series shows daily on different channels, times not consecutive. Periodically also used a browser to confirm channel changes worked. All good.

Next, added 2 consecutive timed weekly shows to record but on different channels. First show recorded okay but still included the default post padding. The recording includes the channel change info header at the end of the show when padding starts. The video and audio devices would still be in use for the the first recording so the second recording gets no data and fails.

Thought I might have messed something up so waited to see what happened the next week week. Same result.

Set up test recordings yesterday to confirm the behavior and it did. Consecutive recordings on the same channel recorded okay.

Set up 3 shows to record today to get a short log. First recording is at 3 pm is okay. Second recording is at 4 pm and third recording at 4:30 pm on a different channel. The second recording continues to the end of the post padding. The third recording is started at 4:30 and changes the channel but gets no data and fails. Log attached.

Probably the same issue but under different circumstances, I inadvertently left a channel running in the browser one night and it was still running the next morning. (Basement computer on low volume so it wasn't noticeable upstairs.) The scheduler made multiple attempts made to record a scheduled show on different channels during the night, all fails.

The behavior I would expect in this situation is that when a channel change is required, the first recording is stopped on time without post padding, then after a few seconds (or when the process is confirmed to have stopped) the next recording is started.

I assume this is a bug?

Platform info:
Linux Mint 21, up to date.
NextPVR version 6.1.1.221106
One extras tuner active, (second present but disabled and not set up), usb 3 HDMI capture devices
The extras tuner is a shell script that parses the channel number parameter, sends lirc commands to a Raspberry Pi 2b to do the blasting, then starts ffmpeg to create an mpegts stream to stdout.

  Trouble installing TabloTV Extra
Posted by: kevin-pvr - 2022-11-30, 11:17 PM - Forum: Extras - Replies (67)

Hello Martin,
I have a TABLO and I just found this NextPVR app.  First of all I am new to this and I am likely missing some basic things Sad

I downloaded the Tablo zip file.  I extracted it into  C:\Program Files\NextPVR

I don't see a runtime.json file in the directory.

I also don't see TabloTV install.

I executed TabloTV.exe and nothing happened.  I suspected I might need Microsoft.NETCore.App so I donwloaded and installed the latest version.

Still nothing.  I would appreciate any help that you may be able to offer.

Thanks,
Kevin

No sound on one channel - Recordings only
Posted by: selowan - 2022-11-27, 11:22 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

I have a strange issue where recordings on one channel have no sound, it's channel 797 UpTv HD.

I recently had to delete and re-add this channel: due to cable company (Comcast) changes, I wasn't getting a guide update for this channel.  There were three other channels re-added at the same time, and they are all working fine.

Here's the odd thing: sound works fine when that channel is viewed live using the NextPVR client.

Also, sound is fine on recordings made on other channels, including others that were re-added at the same time.

My Audio Renderer is "Default (Recommended)"
Audio decoders are:
MPEG1 Audio: LAV Video Decoder
AC3 Audio: LAV Audio Decoder
E-AC3 Audio: Disabled
AAC Audio: Disabled
HE-AAC Audio: Disabled

This setup was fine for years.  I wondered about the disabled decoders, but if I get sound when viewing that channel live, it seems like decoding is working.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike
.

The attached log was taken when one such recording was in progress, Gilmore Girls, starting at 1500 PDT.
