I am running windows7 32 bit, hdhomerun dual tuner, lastest firmware. Have tested the hdhomerun on same pc with both quicktv and sage tv, no real issues.
When I go to set up gbpvr and do digital source configuration -> Only show devices in this machine, it says "no devices detected". Should it have been detected?
so then I go to select hdhomerun without checking that box, and select hdhomerun tuner #1. It sets the type to DVB and the country selection of course does not include the USA.
Does gbpvr only work with hdhomerun if I am in europe???? That would suck.
(Yes, I DID copy/paste the model number into the subject.)
So, a new TV (and by new, I mean, 10 years old) has appeared in the room. A Sony rear-projection model, one of the earlier HD televisions. 720 lines of resolution only, and only component-video inputs for HD.
With that in mind, I would like to replace the current video output card to something that will offer me 720 with this TV. (Currently, I'm using svideo outputs). The catch here is that the card must be AGP, there are no PCI slots in the PC.
After a bit of poking about, I've found the Sapphire ATI Radeon VC X1650Pro agp. Claims "YPrPb component output for direct drive of HDTV displays*" (the asterisk concerns me) and "AGP 8x configurations also supported with AGP-PCI-E external bridge chip" (whatever that is).
So -- my questions. Does anybody have any experience with this card? Between the asterisk and the "bridge chip", I'm a bit wary about jumping into any fresh purchases without some external reassurances that it will work.
Any thoughts / comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
I have read the section in the guide on this issue, but I don't think that applies to my problem because I'm getting a black screen when I resume from standby by pressing the power button on the PC. It's a completely black screen, but I can also see a bright white cursor. So I must reboot every time I want to access recordings via GBPVR. I have the screen-saver disabled in XP (but the GBPVR screen-saver is enabled).
This PC is dedicated exclusively to GBPVR - no keyboard or mouse - it sits in the entertainment center connected via S-Video cable to an old standard TV. I can access the software via TightVNC on my main PC.
Otherwise everything works perfectly. It wakes to record and goes back into standby when done recording. The only problem remaining is that black screen when coming out of standby by pressing the power button. It's my understanding that pressing the power button when in standby shouldn't produce a black screen, is that correct?
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I recently updated all my video files to include mymovies.xml files and cover art .jpg's.
It looks fantastic in Slick and Community Skin 4, because all the info is right there and it's a breeze for everyone to use.
The only downer is that if I play a video file with an .xml file, the information in the .xml file does not appear in the On Screen Display. At least I think it's the On Screen Display -- I'm talking about when a video is playing and if you move your mouse (or hit a button on your remote) a little blue bar pops up with the name of the file, the time, and a timeline of the video being played at the top of the screen.
My vid library looks somethin like this:
F:\myvideos\myvideo.mpg
F:\myvideos\myvideo.xml
F:\myvideos\myvideo.jpg
I notice that with shows I've recorded, during playback their description shows up on the OSD just fine.
I looked at the recordingdump.xml, and it has the same <description> line as the myvideo.xml, which I got from the sample mymovies.xml code at:
So is there any way to ensure the description from the myvideo.xml shows up in the OSD or have I missed something?
And am I right about THAT blue popup being the OSD?

I live in South Africa and receive my signal from satellite via a decoder. I also have an InnoDV USB2 external tv / capture card. How do I, if possible, wire this lot up to use GBPVR on my pentium 2.8 GHz pc?
GBPVR knows when its idle, so it could count x minutes and then (if no recordings are immanent) go into standby/hybernate.
The PCs power management could be set to 'always on', and
presumably if the PC can go into standby/hybernate at all, it should do so for GBPVR.
I know all too well you can set windows power settings to standby/hybernate the PC after x minutes of being idle but there are two big problems here - what windows thinks is idle could be too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Using CPU% is not a reliable and reproducible means across many computers and causes headaches for many people, myself included.
Would be nice to have a port to the Sirius stream (would have to be some kind of spawn the app and intercept I guess ?). I dont have an immediate use for this yet, until I get some gbpvr device (client lappy ?) into the garage. Currently, I just go grab my Starmate from the jeep and bring it into the shop , plug it into the harness to the audio system there.
Someday, Ill have the net in there (have cat5 from my crossconnect to a jack in there, just in cast though.. )
The music is duplicated easily from the existing web streams, but stuff like RawDog etc I dunno (maybe I havent search enough in the existing ?)
I have a Coship freeview receiver with a loop through Lnb connection.
Can I use an external Usb receiver with GB-Pvr?
If so has anybody any recommendations.

I'm ripping BR dvd's (m2ts) into the video library. They play perfectly fine in Cyberlink, but not in anything else. the video is fine, the audio is a bit crackly. I downloaded GraphEdit and inserted every combination of decoders I could think of, and played the graph. No luck. Is there anyway to tell which decoders Cyberlink is using? I'm hoping to change the merits so that WMP, and hece GB_PVR will play the file fine.
Also, is there an easy alternative? I like the simplicity of ripping to m2ts with dvd fab. but really don't like being in mutex hell.
