Error on EGP update with recording service
Posted by: daneo - 2009-12-05, 01:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi Sub,

I get some strange errors when doing the daily automatic update, but they don't happen when I update manually using the tray tool (which seems to update using PVRX2 and not the service...

  New version soon?
Posted by: daneo - 2009-12-05, 08:06 AM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (3)

Hi MovieWiz,

when can we expect a spin of the code? I've send some suggestions for the mymovies.xml support (which is partially there, descriptions don't get loaded but cast and the other stuff does) as well as a database "purge" option which makes sense if you are running 100% local metadata.

My big problem is the German metadata which I can only easily get with Salami's Movie Organizer.

Thanks,
Dane

m2ts files - I'm just not getting it.
Posted by: pvrproblems - 2009-12-05, 06:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I've been using GB-PVR for a couple years and it's been great. A few days ago I decided to install a BR dvr player.

Here's what I'm trying to do... rip a m2ts file with DVD-Fab. That works. I can play the files in CyberLink 8 just fine. MS Media Player is blank for several minutes then plays a very distorted view of the movie. Media Player Classic won't play it, but does give me this info on the file
Video: WVC1 1920x1080 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 640Kbps [Audio]
Subtitle [Subtitle]

Should I be trying "MPEG-2 Playback" decoder settings or "Advanced Codec" settings? I've tried FFDshow, Cyberlink. No luck. I installed matroska splitter, because of another post, no luck.

When I render the file in GraphEdit, it shows...

Nero Splitter ---> ffdshow video decoder -----> vmr input 0 vid renderer
\
\---> AC3Filter -----------> audio input pin Def Direct Snd Dev.

any ideas????

Many thanks

Richard

  Sky Viewing Cards
Posted by: srhutch - 2009-12-04, 09:40 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I have been looking into Sky White Card readers, and have found that a DreamBox 500 can act as a card server along with using DVBViewer.

Does anybody know if GBPVR will be able to get the card details from DVBViewer.

TIA.

Black screen on Live tv or Video playback
Posted by: spencer - 2009-12-04, 09:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I get a black screen when trying to play live tv or a previous recording. The sound continues for about 10 seconds then also stops.
If I playback a recorded radio program it works ok.
The recording function also works ok.
I have attached logs.
Any ideas please for a cure.
Thank you in advance

  ML3 Issues
Posted by: mvallevand - 2009-12-04, 08:53 PM - Forum: Recording2, MusicLibrary2, SystemStatus Support - Replies (42)

Can some of you MusicLibrary listeners provide a summary of the most serious problems they are having with ML3 especially if you are using ML2 still. I want to convert as many ML2 users to ML3 and I want to know what is holding you back.

Thanks,

Martin

Playback of recordings sometimes crash - Device Lost
Posted by: chunkymonkey909 - 2009-12-04, 05:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

Problem:
Sometimes when watching recordings I'm thrown out to the Windows desktop and the gbpvr program gets minimised and . Looking in the logs this seems to be the relevant error:-

ERROR m_pD3DDev->Present(0, 0, 0, 0) failed
Error code : 88760868
D3DERR_DEVICELOST
Device lost

I'm not sure what device is being refered to. I have deleted gbpvr and reinstalled it but its still happening. Any help appreciated.

Config:
GBPVR v1.4.7
No plugins.
Windows Vista 32bit.

Thanks

Martin

Pre and Post Paddings Should Be Respected
Posted by: LewE - 2009-12-04, 03:40 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (11)

I didn't add this to the very active thread requesting User Interface wishlist items because I believe it has to do more with the internals of GBPVR.

I have three analog capture cards, each set to be able to deal with all of the available channels. I have two programs that occur back-to back, each set to be a recurring schedule, and each with a 2 minute post padding. What ends up happening is that they both get scheduled to be recorded by the same capture source and the 2 minute post padding of the first program is lost. There are no other programs scheduled to be recorded at this time so all three capture cards are available but only one is used.

This means that I lose part of the first program each day because of the time for GBPVR to stop one recording and start the next. With most shows this isn't an issue but the two programs I am talking about are The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. The Daily Show puts some of its content at the very end of each show and I end up missing some or all of it.

I know that one of zehd's utilities could take care of some of this problem but there is still some finite time when nothing is recorded because of GBPVR switching between recordings so this isn't a solution.

Why doesn't GBPVR make use of another capture card and maintain the post recording padding for each show when this is possible?

  Sudden increase in bad recordings
Posted by: spotty - 2009-12-04, 01:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (23)

Over the last week or two the number of bad recordings I have been having has gone from 1 in heaps to about 1 in 2.
In all cases the symptoms are the same - the recording tries to playback but has massive pixellation and stuttery playback. In most cases it gives up and stops recoding after a few 100KB.
I have tried using 2 other multiplexers and using VLC for playback, but they all result in a similar scenario.
The strange thing is channel seven news at 4:30pm always records perfectly but seven news at 6:00pm always has problems. Other than this I have not been able to see a pattern in terms of channels or time of recording etc.
I'm at a loss as to where to even start looking - and ideas?
