  No live TV (unless recording?)
Posted by: jezz2020 - 2009-11-17, 03:53 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

using ver 1.4.7 on clean install of windows 7 32 bit, NOVA-t-500 tuner, i am having the following problems

I can enter the tv guide, select a current show to watch, but i only get picture and sound for half a second then just a black screen, or alternatively i get picture with the "no signal detected" overlay present for a second, then black screen also (see 1st set of logs)

alternatively i can go to the tv guide, select a current show to RECORD (in this case tv3 - sticky tv), and then while still in the tv guide i can select a second channel to watch (i.e.c4) which gives me half a sec picture, then black screen, then full video and audio comes back fine and i can navigate through channels no problems. However if i then go back to the guide, select the recording show to watch ( which playes back fine), then when i exit the guide, and then attempt to re-enter from the main menu, pvrx2 becomes completly un-responsive and must be killed with task manager (see 2nd logs)

Interestingly, after this occurs windows explorer does not work correctly either, with the right hand pane not updating as you navigate through the folder structure on the left hand side.

Hope this post makes some kind of sense, its been a really long day

any suggestions most welcome

ps anyone using nova-t-500 (99xxx series) with windows 7? what version of drivers you using?

Jerky Playback FFDShow not configured correctly.
Posted by: David.Skinenr - 2009-11-17, 02:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I am getting jerky playback from time to time. This is much more noticeable when playing recorded TV rather than live TV but looking carefully I can see it occurring in live TV as well. My Divx movie library plays back smoothly.

I have the SAF filters installed (I think) but I am not sure if FFDShow video is in use even though it is set as the Mpeg-2 playback video decoder as I do not get the red FFv box in the system tray although I do get the FFa blue audio box.

I have tried a variety of video renderers (default) VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive and most of the MPEG2 - Playback video decoders (I show the following options)
System default
ffdshow Video Decoder
Ulead DVD Video Decoder
Cyberlink Video/SP decoder (PDVD9)
Ulead MPEG Video decoder

on the system which is a dedicated machine running XP with an dual core CPU running at 2.6Ghz and 2G Ram with a Nvidia 8600GTS video card running 1024 x 768 reduced to S-video 576i output for my old SD TV and a haupage PVR 150 capture card (SD only if I understand this correct).

I'm afraid I don't understand the filter decoding and playing process very well and I would appreciated any guidance on how to get past this problem as apart from this jerkyness the system runs very well.

Regards
David

No Tuners available + tuners 2&3 won't record
Posted by: homebrewpc - 2009-11-17, 01:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,

Re: No Tuners available + tuners 2&3 won't record

Can anyone suggest why a 'no tuners available' error message appears whilst trying to watch a DVB-T channel whilst another is recording also why only one DVB-T tuner out of three is recording?

Am using Hauppauge Nova-T 500 PCI (Master: Tuner No. 1, Slave: Tuner No. 2) and a Nova-T USB2.0 DVB-T capture devices.

All three DVB-T tuners have been tuned in and DVB-T channels mapped accordingly. According to the 'show status' option the Nova-T 500 PCI Master seems to be doing all of the work and the other DVB-T capture devices seem to be always sleeping.

Am using V.1.4.7 of GB-PVR.

Thank you.
Best Regards.

  Can't get GBPVR to install
Posted by: velillen - 2009-11-17, 01:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Ok well you ever have something working perfectly fine and decide to mess with it anyways just for it to end up borked? Yeah, thats my problem. I had a 1.3.xx version and it was working fine. Froze up on pause/resume sometimes and finally did it and i was like well i'll try updating just for kicks. Only now i get the dreaded error on install.

The error
Ok so i go to install and it runs through and seems like it is at the end only to initiate the rollback. Upon which it gives Fatal Error- Installation ended prematurely because of an error

What i've tried

1.) tried the sc delete "gbpvr recording service" but alas says its not found.
2.) Made sure everything was cleared out of the folder/no folders left
3.) searched for devnz, pvrx2, gvpcr, gb-pvr in registry and deleted ALL found entries.
4.) tried installing an older version (1.3.11 i believe it was) with no luck
5.) installed the vcrest x86 thing. the big RED lettering in the main post. it was installed.
6.) drank beer in frustration
7.) tried to install to a different drive....no luck same error
8.) drank more beer
9.) made a log of the install and error that will be attached to this message. It is literally jibberish to me though but maybe someone can analyze it lol.
10.) drnak more beer
11.) Looked through every post i could find on here but everything just seemed to relate to the recording service or a registry entry.....maybe its not a problem with gbpvr at all?

after that i gave up. If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it. I spent probably an hour trying to get it to work with no luck. Last resort might just be to reformat Tongue

ps i had to rar the logfile as it was to big of a txt document to be just that. limit of 19k and it was 1.5mb or something.

pss i know you've seen people have this problem before sub and haven't really been able to help but thanks for least making gbpvr and hopefully someone beside syou can find an answer Smile

Is anybody using a 2 way remote for music-playing?
Posted by: mila06 - 2009-11-16, 11:52 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I think some of the 2-way remotes are very nice, and it's cool not to have to turn on the tv for playing music.

Are any of you using them(pda software, or hardware ones)?

  Audio and video decoders
Posted by: JMT - 2009-11-16, 08:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I installed 1.4.7 last night and I'm having problems with both the video and audio. From the drop down list I have tried others but found none that worked well. Could anyone point me toward a down-loadable video and audio codec that might work well?
I have a PVR-2250 and my OS is Windows 7
Windows Media Center and WinTv7 both run excellent so it must be something in the program set-up.

  Problems since Digital switchover
Posted by: Glynderi - 2009-11-16, 07:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (39)

Hi,

Since we've switched to digital here in West Wales, I'm unable to get any channels in GBPVR.

I've tried scanning & scanning & scanning....

I'm running 1.4.7 on an XP Pro PC with 2.5G ram.
Using 2 x Nova-T 90002 PCI cards with proper external aerial.

Bizarrely, I downloaded and installed Hauppage's WinTV7 and that's picked up all the channels I used to see in GB-PVR. I guess that proves the cards & aerial work.

No doubt I'm missing something obvious and any advice & suggestions will be eagerly welcome.

I attached the zipped log files.

Thanks

Robin

  EWA Firewall Settings Windows7
Posted by: raceviper13 - 2009-11-16, 04:51 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (2)

I've read here that you need to make an inbound rule to get EWA to work from outside the network.

What specific application (exe file) needs access?

I think that this should be in the help section for setting up remote access of the EWA as I can't remember what I had it set up as on XP and I can't find it on the forums.

Sound breaks up when OSD is up
Posted by: bethanyrayne - 2009-11-16, 04:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I am using 1.4.7 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
8600GT
Q9300
4Gb Memory
64 Bit Creative Sound Card
This computer is a client using file sharing.
Settings are: EVR, MPV, MPA, AC3

My problem is with the OSD, when it is up my sound cracks up but is perfect once it goes down.

EDIT to add: I have changed the config xml to limit OSD frame buffer which reduces the problem significantly.
