  Recording locks up
Posted by: ceandra - 2009-11-18, 03:43 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Sub:

Old problem returned.

Recording hangs, locking up the tuner. Status says NCIS recording, but time is over. Nothing else can record or watch TV. File size not growing, failed at 8:27pm. Reestart recording service and next recording starts OK.

Has happened a few times in the last week. Am running prior version (one back, I think), have not got around to updating.

Recording DVR-MS format. In the past tried removing comskip, tried TS, etc.

This ONLY happens on CBS (ch 13), only in HD shows. I beleive but cannot confirm that it happens at the start or end of a commercial break, possibly a change of resolution. The portion recorded is un-watchable in DVR-ms. In TS, it was watchable up to the failure.

This is happening nightly, but not every show that is set for record. Happens back-to-back and single shows. More importantly, last week it happened when watching live TV (no timeshift, plane old live). Screen goes to black with the lost signal notice. Switch to TV, and the show is playing, but recording service is locked on PC. Shows "live TV ch 13" even after exiting GBPVR.

I am betting the logs don't show anything.

Is there any other type of logging we can do to capture this? Unfortunately, cannot repeat on demand, but it WILL fail within a night or two.

Willing to work to help solve this.

BTW, I solved for quite some time by going to SD instead of HD for that channel. All other channels record fine in HD. Then in AUgust I changed back to HD, and it was fine until about two weeks ago.

Thanks for your time.

Running a Pentium 4, 3.4 GHz, 2GB ram, Nvidea video card, 1TB seagate drive (second drive, only for TV), XP MCE 2005, Aver M780 TV, Comcast cable serving OTA channels only in QAM.

  Error when starting Episode Tweaker
Posted by: gEd - 2009-11-18, 12:27 AM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (13)

Hi JW

I just downloaded Episode Tweaker from the wiki as some of my recordings got messed up during when importing mpeg files.

During the install, I received a couple of messages about "already having a newer version of this file", so I kept the latest files intact.

When I try EpisodeTweaker I get the error message below.

This is running 64-bit windows 7

Any help gratefully appreciated.

  Only just found guide2
Posted by: Pob - 2009-11-17, 11:49 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (6)

Since I installed 1.4.7. the EWA stopped working, in that as soon as I clicked on a listing I got an error;
Server Error in '/gbpvr' Application.
Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterpriseServices, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

In searching for a solution I saw mention of guide2 - and not only does it work, it looks so much better!

My links to the EWA on two PC's have been saved in my Favourites folder since I first installed GBPVR, and have never been changed - so I was always going into guide.aspx. Got me wondering how long guide2 has been part of GBPVR, and how many other users are linking to guide from saved shortcuts? I visit the GBPVR forums frequently, but somehow I totally missed guide2!

  Dropped Recordings
Posted by: Lindsay - 2009-11-17, 10:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Two long-standing scheduled recordings were dropped from the Pending list for no reason that I can fathom.

The recording shows in question are Coronation St (yes, I know!) of 12/11 and 17/11 7:30 pm.

The pending.log file shows the 17/11 one being dropped at 11/11 11:31:40 and the 12/11 one being dropped at 11/11 11:32:11.

The PVRX2.exe-3.log file dated 11/11 11:32 shows conflict resolution action taking place immediately before the above pending log drop times.

The GBPVRRecordingService.exe-1.log 15/11 11:22 shows an error at 11/11 11:30:30 and multiple reloads at the time in question.

I am sure I couldn't have doubled up on the recordings at the crucial times and there are two tuners, anyway.

Bit mysterious - my fault or a bug??

Logs attached.

Changing Closed Caption Line 21 Decoder
Posted by: petercooperjr - 2009-11-17, 07:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm running GB-PVR 1.4.7 with an HVR-1600 tuner card in the U.S. I'm trying to get closed captions working with the MPEG decoder I want to use.

If I have the "Show closed captions" checkbox checked in the Misc tab in Config, then with the "ATI MPEG Video Decoder", closed captions work for digital recordings, but not for analog recordings. (Also, the ATI MPEG Video Decoder tends to crash on me occasionally.)

With "Show closed captions" on with the "Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9)" decoder, closed captions work for analog recordings, but not for digital recordings. Most of what I watch is HD digital recordings, and the Cyberlink decoder seems to work best on my system, so I'd really like to figure out how to get it to work with closed captions.

While diagnosing this, I connected to GB-PVR with GraphEdit with captions on and the Cyberlink decoder on a HD digital recording, and then saved that graph and reopened it in GraphEdit outside of GB-PVR. If I then replace the standard "Line 21 Decoder 2" with the "CyberLink Line21 Decoder (PDVD9)" filter, and then play it in GraphEdit, I see the file playing with the captions working. So, it seems like the CyberLink decoder just requires use of its own closed caption decoder rather than just using the standard one.

So, now I just have to figure out how to get GB-PVR to use this graph when playing a file. How does it select which filter to add to the graph to do the Line 21 decoding? Is there a config file setting somewhere? I tried changing the Merit of the CyberLink Line21 Decoder filter to be higher than the Merit of the basic Line21 Decoder, but that didn't seem to do it. I've not yet tried lowering the merit of the basic Line21 Decoder, as I was a bit nervous to start mucking around the internals of DirectShow too much.

I don't know if it's relevant, but the PDVD9 filters I'm referring to are from a trial copy of PowerDVD 9. I'd be happy to buy the $15 decoder package from them if I knew that it'd all work, but I want to make sure that it all works in GB-PVR before buying anything.

I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone might have. Thank you very much.

  OTA Channel Frequency Change
Posted by: amadams - 2009-11-17, 02:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Does anyone know how to fix channel tuning when an OTA channel changes it's frequency? WHDH in Boston, Mass changed frequencies last week and I have not been able to get GBPVR to find it when scanning. I am on GBPVR ver 1.3.10. My Channelmaster DTV converter box found it with no trouble after a rescan.

Is it possible to add program desc to MPG files?
Posted by: sheppy99 - 2009-11-17, 12:50 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

I would like to add the program description information to either MPG files or convert them to DVR-MS files and add it there so that the information shows up in Windows 7 Media Center.
Is this possible with GBPVR and if so how?
Looking in "recording-dump.xml" the information I need is already there in the description field.
Thanks
Kevin

Need a 2 way splitter (amplified)
Posted by: bethanyrayne - 2009-11-17, 08:44 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Can anyone recommend a 2 way splitter available in UK that is amplified?

Here's the problem.

I have put 2 Nova T 500's in my box and while the signal strength and quality are 60/100 on one card with 2 cards just using a passive splitter I get hops skips and jumps occaisonally and sometimes it is so bad the channel is unwatchable.
Am I right in thinking that an amplified splitter would solve this? Please provide links to your recommendations. many Thanks in advance.

  Live365 support
Posted by: mvallevand - 2009-11-17, 04:52 AM - Forum: UbuStream, Web Radio and Universe - Replies (8)

I know there aren't many (any?) WebRadio users out there if there are, do any of you listen to Live365? Even better do any of you have a paid account (mine is the freebie)? I have a few favourites but I needed a bit of work to scrape the web site for text for now playing information.

The reason I am asking is a lot of information comes back (Artist, Album, and Track Name) and I was curious how others would like to see it. Long names will get truncated especially in the screen saver. The second example shows an extreme, imports can even show the native language.

Hopefully I can get ACTCMS (MLPanel) and MixMan (for the skins) involved too since the album art is available.
