  Offline update v4.0.4 to v6
Posted by: Haggis - 2022-10-15, 06:38 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

I'm looking to update a 4.0.4 install to v6 on a network with no internet access using a Windows 7 machine, which is primarily to test getting a RTSP stream working from my camera NVR. I've downloaded the current v6 installer as NPVR.zip but can't see how I kick off the installer. Since 404 was a long time ago, its no problem if the installer wont update this and I'll just go with a fresh v6 install.
How do I start the installer on a standalone machine?

IPTV channels not working after network changes
Posted by: spagio - 2022-10-15, 06:00 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (11)

I was messing around with my network the other day.  Everything seems to be stable except for IPTV functionality in NPVR.

For example, I just tried to import channels from an M3U file from the web UI and I received a "Failed to download channel list: The operation has timed out." message.  I can issue a curl in a CLI with the same url and it works.  All other network/internet functionality seems to work from the box just fine.  Tuned antenna streams work great also.  Rebooting doesn't seem to help.

Attached are the logs from the import attempt.  I feel like NextPRV is caching something or keeping something around from the old network config that is no longer working.

Any ideas?

Thanks, John

Running NextPVR on Libreelec 10 on an Intel NUC.  Nextpvr suddenly quit seeing the tuners (HDhomerun connect Quatro)  I have tried rebooting the NUC, installing the newest version of Nextpvr, rebuilding the docker image, no joy.  I even created a schedulesdirect account to if that helped.  logs attached.  Thank you.

Moving, best path forward for OTA lave and recordings
Posted by: ceandra - 2022-10-13, 10:38 PM - Forum: Roku - Replies (13)

I am a long-time NextPVR user and once a contributor to NextPVR. We had it simple, a single TV with a Windows computer running NextPVR, and an HD Homerun Prime for Cablecard. I have been vary happy for many years. (I can and should do a new donation, as NextPVR has been flawless for us for years)

We are now transferring to a different state, where OTA channels are available by antenna. I have been looking at many options, but keep coming back to NextPVR as the best, known, solution. The Roku app threads appear to be a bit dated since the Roku cancellation, but it appears things may still be active?

Our new house has 3 Roku TV's (One a TCL Roku TV, brand new, and two older TV's with Roku 4K boxes) and one Vizio smart TV (Vizio apps). All Roku devices are new this year.

I am not as concerned about the Vizio.

My desire is to be able to see live TV and recorded TV, with commercial skipping, on all of the Roku TV's and maybe the Vizio. I will probably get a Homerun box that is antenna capable, though my go with an internal card from Hauppauge. Either way, I will operate with a single multi-tuner device on a central NextPVR server.

So, what is the best way to stream NextPVR to the TV's?
1. Is the Roku app still active, and in that case can I get on the trial when the time comes?
2. Alternatives seem to be the Tivo 4k or the ONN streaming box, both Android boxes. Are those a better option? Not integrated to Roku, so another remote, power, etc. If this is the way to go, I assume there are other threads I can find on the forum.

At this point we are not yet in the house, so no need to get on trial yet. I simply want to chart a path forward as we prep for a move.

The first question is the overall approach, whether Roku, Android, or some other solution.

I apologize if this i clear in the forums. Everything I looked at so far in relation to Roku is dated.

I appreciate the effort you are putting in on this, and any insight/direction you can provide.

Thanks
Chuck

  NScriptHhelper.exe version 6.xxx
Posted by: scJohn - 2022-10-13, 05:54 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

I am having problems running "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\NScriptHelper.exe" in a PowerShell script.   I am on version 6.0.0 with a build date of 220904.    When running NScriptHelper.exe I get an Exit Code: -2147450730.

Here is the last part of the Windows PowerShell transcript

Code:

Tried running in a batch file and got

Does NScriptHelper.exe now require NetCore version 6?

Did not have this problem with version 5.x  of NextPVR.

  Disable web client streaming?
Posted by: pdc - 2022-10-12, 02:32 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (4)

Hi all,

I have been running NextPVR on a Raspberry Pi quite successfully, but there is one area that is a problem for me.

That is, sometimes when I am looking over the recordings, I will accidently click on one. This causes the poor raspi to go transcoding, and even if I immediately cancel it seems to transcode the whole thing. For example I recently accidently clicked on a 1/2 hour show and it spent the next hour and a half transcoding!

I don't use the web client for streaming, and of course the Raspberry Pi is entirely unsuitable for transcoding. Is there some way I can either disable the client streaming, or at a minimum, disable transcoding entirely?

Thanks!
Paul

IPTV Stream 404 from NextPVR unless user-agent is changed
Posted by: bphillips09 - 2022-10-11, 11:52 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (4)

Hi, I have set up a NextPVR instance in a VPS.

Everything is set up and works great except for actually playing back or recording a stream. The error is:

Code:
[56] ConnectToURL: http://IPTVURL:80/.../File.ts?.... [56] WebException: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.   at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()   at NShared.IPTVRecorder.ConnectToURL(String url, Int32 depth)

This only happens in NextPVR though, and only with the direct URL.

If I use Xteve or similar to restream it, it loads perfectly fine in NextPVR.

I think my provider is blocking the User-Agent. Is there a workaround? Thanks!

  IPv6 Installation Issue
Posted by: Delboy - 2022-10-11, 06:40 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (16)

I installed the latest Nextpvr using the deb package on a Rasp Pi which already runs OpenVPN.
The Pi is running without GUI.

The installation completed successfully however I was unable to access the configuration web page using the v4 ip address.  The nextpvr service is running on the Pi however netstat showed only port 8866 open on tcp6.
Using the v6 ip address I was able to access the configuration page and continued to setup IPTV.  This successfully setup the channels and the EPG but live streaming sat at a black screen.

Assuming the v6 IP was an issue, I uninstalled nextpvr and disabled IPv6 on the PI and performed a reinstall.

Surprisingly port 8866 is still showing open only on tcp6 and I have no access to the configuration page as IPv6 is disabled.

Any help with this issue would be gratefully received.

Bug Bug when skipping through programme while still recording?
Posted by: bitoclass - 2022-10-11, 01:28 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (17)

I've been using NPVR for many years (thank you!) and in particular in the past couple of years I have been successfully watching a long (100min) TV show each day while it airs, but starting late, by playing a recording that NPVR is doing. This means I can then (manually) skip the ad breaks and gradually catch up to live during the airing.

However, since I upgraded to version 6.0.0 (220904), this scenario is proving almost impossible. It seems like there might be a bug in the Windows NextPVR.exe client application which breaks the progress bar and the ability to skip through the TV show accurately, if the show is still recording when you start watching it.

Skipping forward by 1min or 10sec (or whatever the ⏩⏭️ buttons should be doing) instead jumps forward by a seemingly random and large amount, often going right to the end of the current recording and stopping playback.

From what I have figured out over a few weeks of this, I think the problem arises when you try to skip past the point the recording had reached when you started playing it. For instance, if the show started recording at 12.30 and I started watching it at 13.00, I could skip ahead past a 12.45 ad break without any trouble, but trying to skip ahead past a 13.05 ad break would see the skip button leap straight to the end of the current recording, or at least substantially towards it.

Similarly, you can normally click around in the green progress bar at the bottom to jump to a particular time, but this is also not working properly at all in this scenario (watching while recording). Clicking it does skip but it could be in either direction, to any position on the bar, and again may make the playback stop if it goes to the end. I haven't managed to work out what's going on with this but I think it is related to the timing issue implied by the skip buttons problem.

As I say I think this was introduced in version 6.0.0 (220904) so if you are able to resolve it in a future release that would be great. I'd be happy to help diagnose further if I can. The show I'm recording is in HD on a UK channel if that is relevant.

Thanks very much!
