  Where to save data files?
Posted by: mvallevand - 2009-09-10, 08:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (21)

GB-PVR and most plugins don't seem to follow good programming practice because they storing program data and support files with the binaries. I know it is historical but it is still bad. Many people having trouble with Vista actually are having trouble because of this and there is no reason for this problem to even exist. I'd like to see it changed but I am curious what users and developers think.

My preference from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environment_variable is
%APPDATA% but %ALLUSERSPROFILE% works too Whatever the change I think it is best to be consistent.

  Weather2 V1.0.1.2 Notes
Posted by: scb147 - 2009-09-10, 08:42 PM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - No Replies

Please uninstall Weather2 V1.0.0.0 if you have it installed. Then delete the Plugins\weather2 folder. I changed the config.xml file to use a different variable type, so old config.xml files from V1.0.0.0 will not work with V1.0.1.2.

Notes:
- Weather2 currently cannot be in a sub-menu, it causes an error.

Changes in Weather2 V1.0.1.2:
- New installer, stops/restarts recording service, keeps newer dll files.
- Renamed "Local" maps to "State" maps.
- "None" option for satellite maps.
- Fix to not even attempt to retrieve a map if it's not available for your area.
- Refresh on Startup option.
- Profile name can be used for Location display.
- Include "weather2.XmlSerializers.dll" file.
- Minor Bug fixes

Want to be more green with server
Posted by: steeb - 2009-09-10, 08:04 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (19)

Hi all,

just wanted to check I've got this right, have looked through some threads.

Currently I have been running my server 24/7, want to be able to put it into standby. Running MVPMC dongle with 3 x MVP's.

When experimenting the server goes into standby for less than 1 minute then wakes again. If an MVP is left on rather than powered down will it have this effect? Or should I be looking elsewhere to find out what is waking the box?

Cheers

Steeb

Strang Problem popcorn screen goes blank after two epg changes
Posted by: dave.t - 2009-09-10, 07:35 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (23)

Hi Folks
I have installed the new gbpvr and everything works fine. The only problem is when I go through the tv guide and watch a certain channel for a couple of hours. After 2 shows the screen goes black and does not come back. It looks like it is still recording on the computer.
eg. I watch one program at near the end of it, it stops and then comes back on again (about 3 seconds) So I say that is the padding. All works well, But when the next program gets to the end it stop as normal but does not come back.
The logs are below from last night.
Thanks for any help
Dave

Hi
I'm on Xp using version 1.4.7 on a Happauge Nova T 500 and on some channels I can't hear them.
Instead I get a guy saying what is happening.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also if I view the channels in the config I can hear the sound

Nova S no channels on certain frequencies
Posted by: steeb - 2009-09-10, 06:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (27)

Hi,

this is actually a problem I have had before installing 1.4.7, perhaps even as far back as 2 x previous versions of GBPVR. I have lived with it in the past just by not mapping these channels (even if entered manually they wouldn't work) but would love to work out what is wrong.

My Nova S Plus card just will not find/play certain channels on a few frequencies. For the purposes of testing it again after the upgrade I removed it from my devices list and started again with a fresh scan but still the same problem. I know these channels are there because my FireDTV picks them up on a scan and so also does WinTV with the Nova S.

For simplicities sake I have entered a manual edited cache file with the working channels from the FireDTV. In the config window I select 'Channel 4' and it plays fine in the preview screen, I then select 'Zone Reality' and no preview (even if no preview also won't play from within PVRX2 with this card either).

The logs (attached) look to me as if it thinks it is playing?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Steeb

  Getting XMLTV to work
Posted by: Sanman99 - 2009-09-10, 02:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I am trying to figure out how to set up XMLTV correctly. Sorry if this is a stupid question. ( I am in North America, USA specifically if that helps)

What I am doing is (from memory because I'm at school):

Going into setup
Clicking Setup input sources
Typing in all the info such as the name and the input (HVR-2250)
Using the drop-down menu to select XMLTV
Clicking browse
Making a new *.xml file
Update the EPG
Clicking Ok and ok to finish the setup

I will probably try to edit this and correct any errors if I see any
The file didn't get any larger in file size. EPG isn't working. I did try looking in the help files.
Is there any way to make EPG work?

Thanks in advance

How do I cancel 'series' record...?
Posted by: mrspaces - 2009-09-10, 12:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Had a look around but cant find the answer to this one...

I set a series up to record but after watching the first 2 episodes decided I dont want to watch it anymore.

But... each time the show is on... GBPVR has it highlighted in red and records it.

Is there any way to globally cancel all recording times for the whole series.

I know you can do it in the pending option but that simply cancels the shows that are currently in the EPG... I want to cancel every instance of that show.

Cheers for any help.

MrSpaces.

GBPVR can't find Win TV Nova T 18109
Posted by: neverland - 2009-09-10, 11:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I have a Dell XPS 1640 laptop running Vista and WMC. I have installed GBPVR. When I tried to configure GBPVR/Capture sources/Add/Settings, I checked "Only show devices detected on this machine". A message appeared: "No known card detected on this machine" I believe the card is a Win TV Nova T model#18109

Can I do something so that GBPVR can find my tuner?

Thanks in advance.
