If it's possible to recommend an AGP card at this point in time - what would be a good one for playing streaming HD video from my HDHomeRun or my STB (via Firewire)?

I can connect to my display (32" 720p LCD) via VGA, DVI or HDMI so the connectors on the back really aren't an issue, I have some flexibility there. However it needs to take up only one slot, height-wise, as I am working with a mATX enclosure - which also makes heat somewhat an issue as the enclosure is pretty tight but ventilated adequately.

Was looking at the Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 from Newegg, would be open to other recommendations.

Given that with about $300 I could probably do a better full-system upgrade (with PCI Express) maybe I should be looking at that? Current spec is a Sempron 2600+, 1.5 GB PC3200, FX5200 AGP card.

I have an HVR-2250 and I’m running 1.13.11 with all of the patches applied. I’m recording ATSC and use DVR-MS. I also have Comskip installed. When I watch a recorded show, the video plays back normally but the timeline is messed up. When the video hits the first commercial, the OSD indicator hasn’t reached the marked commercial. Hitting “skip fwd” actually causes the video to skip backwards to the position shown by the OSD, after which skipping forward works properly.

I’ve tried several different versions of the Hauppauge drivers and I’m currently using the 27091 beta.

Since a couple of weeks I am having problems with skipping. This is only a problem on the MVP, it seems okay on the pc.

When skipping forward and back the position of the video is not correct.
For example when skipping forward 1 minute forward and backward 1 minute I am not on the same position in the video.

Probably the only thing I changed on my pc about the time this problem started, was a game (racedriver grid). Unfortunately I am not sure about this and I can't set back a restore point from the time everything was still functioning okay because windows deleted most of my restore points (I read windows can do this when the designated memory for restore points has been used totally).

So, no drivers changed, no dongle changed, probably no windows update, and so on.
This problem happens when playing mpg-files, also with files months older than this problem.
I tried another driver (and the registry fix, including reboot), took the power off the MVP, reinstalled 1.3.11 (1.3.7 was installed at the time the problem started). Since the problem also exists with older files which have never had this problem, I don't think it's a timestamp problem.


In the log I read this, which seems to reflect the problem
(Skip forward 1=60s, skip backwards 1=30s):

Skipping forward: 2 (yes, I pushed "2" and "skip forward")
MVPSetPlaybackPosition() request to set position to: 125 seconds
...
Skipping forward: 3 (yes, I pushed "3" and "skip forward")
MVPSetPlaybackPosition() request to set position to: 310 seconds
...
Skipping back: 6 (yes, I pushed "6" and "skip backward")
MVPSetPlaybackPosition() request to set position to: 1 seconds
...

3 forward, followed by 6 backwards should be the same position ("125 seconds"), but it's not ("1 seconds").

Just wondering has anyone experience of the Intel CE9500 DVB-T sticks. I bought one from ebay for £10, and as expected it was too good to be true. It's a DUTV005.

When first plugged in, it finds Intel BDA drivers from Windows Update. These don't work at all in GBPVR or ProgDVB, the channel scan just wizs through and doesn't detect any signal strength.

I cracked it open and found the chipset to be CE6230. I installed the CE6230 BDA drivers and now ProgDVB and GBPVR can detect signal strength, but are unable to detect any channels.

For £10, I'm willing to chalk it up as a waste of time. Just wondering on the off-chance has anyone got one and got it working? It looks like this:

Any recommendations for a cheap DVB-T stick. I have two Hauppauge ones, but the price of these seems to have gone way up. I know you get what you pay for, but I don't want to spend a lot of money .

I've had a virus infection and have had to repair windows (xp). My GBPVR installation seems a little messed up now. When I click on PVRX2 or Config nothing happens... attached are my logs. Any ideas?

I purchased a Technotrend DVB-C 1501 budget card last week and tried to set it up in gbpvr. I got the problem that some major channels here in germany are missing if I perform a scan in gbpvr. If I use the tt media center, all channels were found. I added the frequencies to the ini file but "ard" and "zdf" are still not found at all.

I have a problem with the program guide. I am using mc2xml to gather the epg data which works fine. Last week I purchased a TT 1501 budget in order to start in the digital tv world and after I tried to setup the card in gbpvr I had no data in the programm guide. I deleted both tv cards (hauppauge 350 and the tt) and setup the hauppauge again and had also no epg data (still the old working xml file). The next step was to reinstall gbpvr and my last hope was a complete system installation which also didn't work. I have no idea what I did wrong, could anybody help me please? I attached the content of the log folder.

Long time lurker and gbpvr user, first time poster.

I'm looking to upgrade my display from a 23" Olevia (which works surprisingly well when connected to my PC) to something in the 36" - 42" LCD 1080i range. I also intend to use it for basic computer purposes and for PC games.

I figure quite a few of you must be using displays that size -- do you have any recommendations for screens that work well or personal experiences to recount?
