  Problem changing digital channels
Posted by: Mark_H - 2009-04-06, 02:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

So now that I have mapped the QAM channels on my HDHomeRun, I have run into a new problem. I can tune to any of the mapped digital channels, but if I go back to the TV Guide and then select any other digital channels I get an error message telling me there is no usable signal on that channel. If I exit the UI and relaunch it I can select any digital channel but again cannot change channels without getting the same error message.

How do I setup a Hauppauge HVR 1600 so I can watch VCR, etc...?
Posted by: gemmagirl - 2009-04-06, 01:01 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

For those who may remember me, I did get the parts to build my rig and it's up and running for the most part. Yah!

My question now is, how do I setup the analog part of the tuner in GBPVR to use a VCR? (What I am really after is being able to hook up a TR-40 Dish box, and sometimes switch to a VCR, but I thought that might be a bit confusing.)

I have managed to get the Hauppauge software to find ch3, but I am totally lost as to how to do the same in GBPVR. I have other questions, but that's the most pressing one at the moment.

Batch file access to "standby" and "restart" features
Posted by: keith_leitch - 2009-04-06, 12:41 AM - Forum: Slimm GB-PVR and GBPVRcli - Replies (2)

I know I have asked this before, but I am really quite desperate: I want very much to simulate Slimm-GBPVR's "standby" function from a batch file. Every CLI I've used to enter standby either overrides Slimm's "delayed standby" trapping, or will not restart for recordings, or both. Slimm's works perfectly, but I have to do it manually with my mouse.

Come on, genius community...there's got to be a way.

Need to check for Live TV with GBPVRcli
Posted by: keith_leitch - 2009-04-06, 12:37 AM - Forum: Slimm GB-PVR and GBPVRcli - Replies (3)

I'm 90% sure that I've figured out why timeshift is stopping after 5 minutes, as well as Graphrecorder losing its abillity to cancel recordings. As usual, it's my fault.

I have a polling batch file that uses GBPVRcli to check for in-progress and pending recordings, and otherwise restarts the recording service. This is to help me manage my streaming stations from TVUPlayer and other sources. What I didn't realise is that GBPVRcli does not register a timeshifting station as an "inprogress" recording.

Is there any way to use the CLI to either check for recordings that are timeshifting, or check to see if the player is active?

Choose separate decoder for ATSC versus analog
Posted by: sgilani - 2009-04-06, 12:00 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

For analog video, i use ffdshow to do a warped resize.. But for 1080i broadcasts, ffdshow can be a bit sluggish and id like to use a DXVA decoder like cyberlink. Could we have a feature to use a different decoder for digital mpeg2?

Live TV using the SoftwareRecording plug-in.
Posted by: Connie - 2009-04-05, 10:36 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (9)

Hi,
I've been trying to get GBPVR running with the SoftwareRecording plugin for a while, but I can't get live TV (or recording for that matter) working.

The card, a Philips 7130-based card from STlab, is a bit old but perfectly functional, and I don't have any problems getting it to work with other applications.

Now obviously GBPVR isn't perfect for using software-based encoding, but my CPU should be more than fast anough, so this card'll do until I can be bothered to buy a new one. Big Grin

GBPVR starts up fine, and I don't get any error messages. Video files play perfectly fine, with good performance. Web radio also works fine.
When I select LiveTV in the menu, the entire menu flashes one, and then returns. Then nothing.

There is no error message, and no indication of any problem apart from the video not showing up.

I am running GBPVR 1.3.11 and SoftwareRecorder 0.27. I wasn't sure which log files are relevant, so I attatched all of them in a zip. Smile

Thanks for any help.

  Long recordings corrupting
Posted by: stu123 - 2009-04-05, 09:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hoping the experience on the forum can guide me on this one...
GBPVR works just fine most of the time but on long (2-3+ hr) recordings the recording file is screwed up - this seeems to happen most but not all the time.
Symptoms include:
- recording duration shows as >24hrs in duration when playing it although the recording period was say 3 hrs (plus padding)
- playing the file through vlc shows the first 30 or so minutes are ok but it can't play the file beyond that.
- when trying to skip forward in playback within GBPVR it causes GBPVR to go unresponsive and sit there eating large amount of cpu.

Spec is GBPVR 1.3.11, Athalon X2, 4GB RAM, Nova-T500 dual tuner card , ATI Mux - not sure what else would be useful.

TIA
Stuart

  Need help adding an HDHomeRun
Posted by: Mark_H - 2009-04-05, 07:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I have been trying to add a HDHomeRun to my system, and keep running into the same problem. When I get to Map QAM Channels, I get a .Net Exception error message. I have edited the BDA.ini file, installed the patches in the 1.3.11 Survival Guide, and followed all instructions on the SiliconDust website. The tuner is working correctly as I can scan for channels and tune them using the HDHomeRun manager.

The other odd item here is that when I click the Quit button on the error dialog GB-PVR shuts down, and when I restart it I find that I know have two HDHomeRun tuners with the same name and configuration.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated here.

  System and Settings screens description
Posted by: McBainUK - 2009-04-05, 04:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Almost too trivial to mention but I've just noticed that the System screen has "View and edit system configuration" a description on the main menu. This seems wrong as is only has the free diskspace graphic and the power related and update epg buttons. No "editing" is possible.

Also the Settings screen has no description, may I suggest "View and edit system configuration". Wink

  Remote Control Map
Posted by: hakras - 2009-04-05, 03:17 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (5)

I use a Harmony remote for my PCH setup. I currently have my remote configured to be more SwissCenter friendly, but want to create a GBPVR friendly mode. I know that currently my up/down arrows on the remote do nothing in GBPVR, but page up/down in SwissCenter. Currently, I have to do a Channel Up to Page Down are vice versa in GBPVR. I would like to know which buttons on the PCH perform which tasks in GBPVR. That way I can map them accordingly on my Harmony remote.

Also, if I'm watching GBPVR and want to shut off everything, how do I go into standby so that I get right back into GBPVR when I power back on? Is that possible or do you have to through the browse to html route?
