Just done a fresh install of Windows XP and GB-PVR and had trouble getting my 45 button Hauppage remote to do anything on the GB-PVR main menu.

Clicked "fix button settings" in the config app and still no joy. Then I compared the irremote.ini to my backed up version and noticed the new one didn't have a PVRX2 section?

One to investigate?

I am planning for when I will start recording some programs in High Definition. I know that the analog cable (NTSC) programs I record now take approximately 1.7GB to store a one hour program (with the settings I currently use).

Can anyone tell me approximately how large HD programs captured by a QAM tuner will be.

I've just installed zprocess hoping it will help with a minor issue I have and I'm on a steep learning curve, I'm still not sure if it will do what I want can someone help.

Setup:
XP running the latest version of gbpvr, 6 tuners (4 dvb-t, 2 dvb-s) , TS-mux

1 MVP on a wired connection running MVPMC used for live tv and watching recordings mainly.

Problem:
I have config.xml set not to xcode TS to the MVP <MvpTranscodeTS>false I think it is. This gives me very good live TV, but if I play a recording I get the lip sync drifting, If I convert it to mpg offline its all good.

This problem would all be easy to solve by setting up a autoconvert from TS to MPG, which to date I have been doing without problem, but now I have HD channels which breaks the autoconvert from TS to MPG. I am not interested in viewing the HD live tv or HD recordings on the MVP so I'm happy to keep them as TS....so in summary:

I want Zprocess to allow live tv -ts to go to the MVPMC without any conversion, but I want it to do an on the fly xcode of recordings in ts to mpg when viewed on the MVP.....

From my limited knowledge the problem would be with <MvpTranscodeTS>false there is no differentiation between live and recordings so trans2mvp will never be called...correct?

the alternative is to get it to convert all recordings from ts to mpg at midnight and either ignore HD content or also convert it succesfully....

Both TV Guide and TV Listings allow the user to find more instances of the program in the currently viewed listing. This search is limited to the channel of the viewed listing.

I would like the option to do an extended search that would list all programs of the same name, regardless of what channel they appear on.

I followed all the suggestions such as updating files in the survival guide and re-registering filters. I still can't get any channels recognized even though during the scan there are channels in which the strength and quality are being recognized. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I attached my logs.

My problem is that if I record two HD digitial programs at once (which I assume is not re-encoding, but rather a direct stream copy) they will both be fine up until around 45-50 minutes, then they both begin to skip. Sometimes the skipping goes away a short time before the end of the program (55-58 minutes), but usually it does not.

It doesn't appear to be a processor speed issue (using very little CPU as reported in task manager) and if it were a disk / io issue it would show up as soon as I start recording, right?

I disabled comskip to make sure it wasn't running, and I have checked to make sure nothing is running in the background.

This doesn't happen when recording 2 analogue, or 1 of each (to the best of my knowledge).

System:

Vista business (not SP1 as when I upgrade to SP1 my system becomes unstable, perfectly stable without SP1).

MB = FOXCONN A7GM-S AM2+ 780G RT
CPU = AMD|A64 X2 5050E 2.6G AM2 RT
Capture card = Hauppauge 2250

4 Gigs of DDR3 Memory (sorry, don't remember the speed, think its 800 mhz)

1 500 gb SATA (150 I think, not 300).

If it is a disk transfer / seek issue, and I were to add a second disk, is there a way to tie separate tuners to separate disks (so tuner 1, analog or digital records on disk 1, and tuner 2 on disk 2)??? If not, this would be an awesome option.

I would really like to resolve this as I was hoping to add another card so that I could possible record 3 or 4 shows (I only watch a half dozen shows, but they all seem to come on at the same times).

I have noticed that after playing a dvd in GB-PVR and exiting back to the main screen (usually by pressing the stop button during the credits of the film), any directional button I press afterwards (left, right, etc.) will restart the dvd from the beginning with the resume/restart options.

Pressing restart, then stop will exit me out. If I press resume, the program hangs.

I've installed GBPVR (latest version - as of March 2009) on my Vista 32-bit machine. Anytime I try to run config, or pvrx2, both instantly come up with a window that just says "GB-PVR Configuration has stopped working" (as if it was ever working to start with) or "PVRX2 has stopped working".

What do I need to fix?

I'm about to setup my first install of GB-PVR. I've been reading the forum and checked out the wiki and I’m really excited to get started. I have (digital) cable through Comcast (I have a set-top-box). I do need some recommendations.

I'd been planning on using an old Pentium 4, 2.40GHz, 1GB, XP, but after reading here I'm thinking you'll recommend I upgrade. I was thinking about getting a Hauppauge WINTV-HVR-1600 (http://newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?I...6815116010), anything that would be a better fit? How about other hardware, video-card, or anything else.

Lastly, I'm a little confused about the IR-Blasters, if I'm using a set-top-box I'll need an IR-Blaster, right? Does GB-PVR have software to control the IR-Blaster or is additional software needed for this?

I thought I chose a compatible card, but upon a review of the supported tuners I see PVR-500MCE isn't on there (althoug PVR-500 & PVR-500 with fm tuner is)

From browsing the forum, it seems that there are people using this card successfuly.

I have installed
bitcontrol - an MPEG-2 decoder
The Driver from Hauppage for the tuner card (seems to be installed properly in device manager)
EPG - subscribed to schedule direct and I have the guide working properly

Live T.V. yield a dark reddish screen. I tried recording a show from the guide. The recording results in a folder labeled with the showname in my recording directory, however, when I play it, it is just static. I have verified the coax I am feeding has a live signal (I still have my old DVR from the cable company.)

I am pretty lost. I can't find out how to make GBPVR produce errors so I can figure out where to start.
