  ts-mux multi-record conflict
Posted by: spicy - 2009-02-05, 02:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

This question is for the QAM side of recordings with an HVR1600.

I've been working on this issue of the posts for about two weeks and I can't solve it. I am hoping that someone can shed some light on this and I preemptively apologize if it turns out to be something that I clumsily overlooked.

On previous release I was able to record about 6 QAM channels at one time; life was sweet. But I upgraded to 1.3.11.... I encountered "channel conflict" when trying to record a second channel of the QAM with same frequencies (ie T:595250,0,0~P:2~V:89~A:91/T:595250,0,0~P:6~V:68~A:72).

After reading the posts and seeing that this problem was unique to me I decided to roll back to the previous working version. Lo and behold no more QAM conflicts... but ... recordings kept crashing and hanging. Reading more posts and applying some fixes recordings kept crashing. So this A.M. I decided to go forward and again installed the current version. I applied one posted fix which seemed like it was applicable to my situation - ref-patch - but its magic was not be with me.

I am again encountering "channel conflict" when trying to record a second channel of the QAM with same frequencies. Has anyone encountered this situation and if so can some light be shed on this? Thank you for your help.

  Disable auto epg update?
Posted by: keithm - 2009-02-05, 11:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Is there a way to disable the automatic epg update? It all works fine but I don't want the pc waking up to do the update as it stays on (please don't advise different ways to make the pc go back to sleep - it all works fine as it is). All I want to do is update the epg manually when I wish.

mkv files - sound out of sync
Posted by: dbbd - 2009-02-05, 10:28 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Playing H264 mkv files I have a problem with the soundtrack being several ms out of sync - enough to be noticeable.

It is possible my system is not powerful enough - 3GHz P4 with HT. 1GB ram, radeon 9200.

But could be something else. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan

Looking for a USB stick drive partition
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2009-02-05, 09:56 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (22)

My OS partition is normally only about 4 to 5 GB once I have a tidy up, I've been looking around for a piece of software that will boot off a USB stick and do an image of the C: drive onto the same stick, preferably with as few steps as possible.

At the moment I use Gigabytes xpress recovery which is good, but it stores the image on the same physical disk so its a bit risky.

Can Acronis do what I want? Anyone know of something like this?

  Help! 2 diff computers - same crashing - PVRX2?
Posted by: Ginsu - 2009-02-05, 06:30 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,

Every once in a blue moon, I will come home and my computer will be on stuck in boot up. I leave it on 24/7. I just cannot figure out what is causing it to crash and, furthermore, why it crashes in such a way to get stuck at boot up. When I power it off and back on, it boots up fine.

Oddly, this happened with my old computer and is now happening with my new computer (all completely different hardware except for the hard drives).

With two different sets of hardware, I'm left wondering if it's the software that could somehow be causing this?

I'm attaching my logs from the day it crashed recently (2/2/2009) and the day before. I noticed a lot of ERRORS in the PVRX2 log, but don't know if they're important.

Anyone have any ideas? I would be forever grateful! I hate, hate, HATE coming home and finding out that my favorite shows didn't get recorded because of this.

Ginsu

P.S. the specs listed below were my old computer, although I'm using the same tuner.

  Recording service errors
Posted by: berminghamd1 - 2009-02-05, 04:28 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I've been having a recording service error that occurs sporadically and I haven't seen this in the forum anywhere.

I'll have a program scheduled to record, and when the proper time comes the recording service says its recording. However, the program doesn't stop recording when it's supposed to, and telling the recording service to restart or stop has no effect. The file I end up with won't play in GBPVR or in Media Player Classic (in GB-PVR it acts like it's going to play, then just exits back to the main menu).

I've noticed in my event logs that .net 2.0 is having some issues:

EventType clr20r3, P1 gbpvrrecordingservice.exe, P2 1.0.3299.13249, P3 33, P4 system, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 471ebf0d, P7 39e1, P8 55, P9 system.invalidoperationexception, P10 NIL.

I'm fairly new at GB-PVR, so I'm not even really sure where to start or what logs to look at...can someone help please!

transcoded files from ts to mkv - db update needed?
Posted by: psycik - 2009-02-05, 04:27 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (23)

Hi sub - I may have a process that can transcode freeviewhd files to something that the popcorn can play.

I'll perfect then post. But a question.

If I transcode a file to mkv from ts, and remove the ts, will the recordings db find the mkv file or do i need to update the db. Similar to mpg/avi how the db looks for both.

  2 Issues With Recording
Posted by: TonyXL - 2009-02-05, 02:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Using HVR-1800, analog side, S-video in, GB-PVR 1.3.11, Community Skin.

1) When I record, my recording quality choice is not respected. If I choose medium (3500 kbps) the recording is made at 5000kbps. Even live preview is 5000kpbs (thought it should be higher than this). The 5000 seems to be the default setting for the card in GraphEdit, if that's any help.

2) When canceling an in-progress recording from the Pending recordings list, and clicking OK to confirm, the show still appears as "Recording" on this screen. Looking at the file, I can confirm that the recording did indeed stop. If I go to What's New, the program appears as ready. If I go back to Pending, the show is correctly removed. So it seems like the Pending list isn't refreshing after the cancel. Might be a skin issue, I haven't tried with "blue".

I've attached some logs (start recording American Idol, cancel after 30 seconds or so).

Thanks!!!!
-Tony

  Movie download services
Posted by: mrcheapo - 2009-02-04, 10:12 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hi,

Is anyone using a movie download rental service here?

UK available services such as Channel 4's seem to be Kontiki based (bandwidth hogging p2p comes bundled free :madSmile
I've also taken a look at lovefilm.com and tescodigital.com which seem to have a pretty limited range just now for online download rentals.

Amazon Unbox looks pretty decent but hasn't arrived from over the atlantic properly yet.

I know it's almost always going to be MS DRM infected/infested but I can live with that if I really must if it's only for nightly rentals rather than to own.

My big requirement is that I'm paying as I go rather than having a subscription charge.

My plan was just to hook to the media pc or a laptop to the lounge TFT to watch.

Has anyone here had any joy with an existing UK available service?

Thanks for any pointers. Cool
