  npvr is not responding
Posted by: johndutcher - 2022-05-05, 05:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

When watching npr recorded programs, my desktop sometimes freezes. The error I get when I push a bunch of random keys is "npvr is not responding" and it asks if I want to close the program or wait.  I can close the program and then resume after starting it again.  Waiting does not help and I have to reboot.  This can happen as little as once per week or as often as 3 times per recording. I am running v4. Have had this issue for over a year.  Any suggestions would be helpful. The zip logs were created after my computer froze 3 times in 15 minutes.

  Unhandled Exception
Posted by: GratefulRen - 2022-05-04, 06:35 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (14)

I just (had to) re-install Win10, it is a clean install. Now I'm trying to install NextPVR. I ran the setup, and tried to log in. But it took me to a blank page. I see NextPVR in my Windows Tray. But when I double click on it a box pops up with a giant red X. Then I get an Unhandled Exception Error. Note this is as far as I got.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Now what?

  NextPVR TCP/UDP Port 1901
Posted by: mshuttle - 2022-05-04, 05:49 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (3)

Hi,

Apologies if this is already mentioned somewhere, but I've been searching and I can't find the info I'm after.

I've set up NextPVR on my Linux box and I need to punch some holes in the firewall for it. The obvious port to open was tcp port 8866 (as I wish to access/control NextPVR from other machines on the network). After a bit of experimenting and googling, I also found out that udp port 16891 was needed for the Android/IOS app for NextPVR discovery. Indeed, running 'sudo ss -tulpn' lists all the listening ports on my machine, from which I notice that the NextPVR process is also listening on udp port 1901. Search as I might, I cannot find any info on this, so my question is, what does NextPVR use port 1901 for and have I missed any other ports it may use?

Many thanks

Mark

  Tablo Windows 11 install
Posted by: VCR58 - 2022-05-04, 05:01 AM - Forum: Extras - Replies (3)

Trying to get my Tablo tuner installed on a Windows 11 NextPVR server Version 5.2.7.220410. I have .Net Core 3.1 installed but I still get this error. Also deleted the JSON file. I got it working on Windows 10 but I can't figure out what is wrong. Tablo Extra is 1.0.3.

Code:
C:\Program Files\NextPVR>TabloTV.exe install Failed to load the dll from [C:\Program Files\NextPVR\hostfxr.dll], HRESULT: 0x800700C1 The library hostfxr.dll was found, but loading it from C:\Program Files\NextPVR\hostfxr.dll failed   - Installing .NET Core prerequisites might help resolve this problem.      https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=798306

Thanks,

  Recording succeeds but transcoded file is deleted
Posted by: Nimoder - 2022-05-02, 08:15 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (20)

Recording and transcoding with Video Encoder set to CPU always succeeds.  However, changing the Video encoder to NVIDIA causes the transcoded file to be deleted.  After a recording finished successfully, I see that a new temp.MP4 file is created and the graphics processor (NVIDIA) begins its work.  After it finishes, the MP4 file disappears from the directory.  Sometimes the process would succeed and the .TS file is replaced by the .MP4 file.

When I reviewed the various log files, I found entries that indicated the resultant file appeared to be too small, and the MP4 file is deleted.  The following is an example of one such entry:

2022-05-02 13:02:36.484 [DEBUG][197] Dropping out (leaseGoodUntil 1:02:36 PM)
2022-05-02 13:08:13.616 [DEBUG][213] streamable conversion completed: "E:\data\Recordings\CTV News Toronto\CTV News Toronto_20220502_12001300.temp.mp4"
2022-05-02 13:08:13.616 [DEBUG][213] Looks too small (1052706960) ...deleting
2022-05-02 14:38:18.681 [DEBUG][9] PurgeOldDeletes()

The ffmpeg encoding options used were:
-y  -i "E:\data\Recordings\CTV News Toronto\CTV News Toronto_20220502_12001300.ts" -ignore_unknown -sn -fflags +genpts -movflags faststart -codec:v h264_nvenc -vf yadif=0:-1:0 -codec:a aac -strict experimental -ac 2 -ab 128k "E:\data\Recordings\CTV News Toronto\CTV News Toronto_20220502_12001300.t.mp4"

When I used the above options in a command line, I was able to produce a good MP4 file.  The file is just under 1 GB in size (970 MB).  The original TS file was 8 GB for a 1 hr program.

I searched the web for a solution but didn't find anything relevant.  Any suggestions?

  "I'm awake!" ping?
Posted by: clemon79 - 2022-05-02, 07:56 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

So here's the issue I'm having:

I have NextPVR set up on a Windows box, using Kodi as a front end, set to sleep on 30 minutes of inactivity, and 5 minutes unattended sleep timeout, and it runs through the HDMI passthrough on my Xbox One X right now. Normally this works great for me.

But I'm looking ahead, and eventually the Xbox One X is probably going to get pulled out and moved into another room and I will just have the Xbox Series X in here. And often it's useful for me to use the Kodi client on the Xbox to access the DVR, so I have that set up as well. BUT: when I watch Live TV (with an HDHomeRun Prime, properly configured through NextPVR on the Windows box) the box will sleep when the 30 minutes expires.

I do not want to turn off that 30-minute sleep.

What I want is for NextPVR to send some kind of ping every few minutes to the OS when it's playing back LiveTV that says "hey, yo, Windows, still awake over here!" simply so Windows notes something is active and doesn't go to sleep.

Right now I'm playing around with SmartPower, which seemed like a good solution because I could set a network threshold (if more than 2Mbps are travelling over the network interface, then clearly its pumping out a video stream of some sort, so stay awake), but you have to give it full control over it telling your machine to sleep instead of simply being able to say "if these conditions are satisfied, stay up, otherwise let Windows do its thing" so I suspect it's not gonna work long-term.

Anyone have an idea how I could make that ping happen myself, or if that couple lines of code are something the devs would consider?

  Guidance on whether this is a good scenario for NextPVR
Posted by: markosjal - 2022-04-30, 05:27 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (15)

Hello,

I have an older (Legacy) HD Homerun on the way.

I want to use two Kodi clients

I have an existing xmltv list that comes off of one of the Kodi boxes with streaming sources.

I can get guide data for off air TV merged with that via Zap2EPG running on the Kodi box and write out the merged file to wherever.

A couple of questions after looking at the Web GUI configuration...

I see I can upload the merged XMLTV file, but I do not believe that includes the actual channels which I think are in a separate Playlist file.

Will I actually be able to record on Raspberry Pi 3 Back-end with the legacy HD Homerun as a source?

  Video Corruption during playback on Android
Posted by: boringgit - 2022-04-28, 03:31 PM - Forum: Other Clients - Replies (4)

Any help on the below appreciated – I've been looking but I lack the terminology to Google effectively

I usually watch my NPVR recordings on Windows. Most of the time Kodi, sometimes Plex – rarely any issues. Occasional heavy server load or very bad weather when recording being entirely understandable exceptions.

When travelling, or exiled by wife and MIL I do find myself watching on Android – again, Kodi or Plex. Most recordings will play fine and then video will become corrupt. Audio is fine, but the corrupt video will not fix itself. The only (and perfectly easy) way to fix it is to stop playback, then start again a few seconds after the corruption.

The same recording may or may not (mostly will) do the same thing a few times. The annoyance here  is that it will often not restart at the right place and you have to skip here there and everywhere…

This doesn’t happen In Windows so I don’t think it’s an NPVR issue, rather a blip in the recording is killing the android codec? (I don’t know – hence this post).

A few notes – this may well be an HD only issue (I don’t watch many SD recordings)
I can’t do any kind of auto transcoding because wile I only watch HD I share the box with somebody who only watches SD
I’d really like to look into the Android bit and see if I can work around it there.

Any help appreciated as usual!
