Playback crashes - InterVideo

I am able to record, but every time I try to play a recording in GB-PVR, it says "pvrx2 has encountered a problem and needs to close." It seems like the recordings are ok - I can play them with Windows Media Player. Live TV works ok, but file playback does not. The problem occurs every time when I have the mpeg video decoder set to "InterVideo". Playback works if I set mpeg video decoder to "System Default". I'd rather use the InterVideo, however, because it provides closed captions.

Thanks for any help.

I dont really have any adivce for you other than trying another decoder, or different version of the Intervideo decoder. Its been years since I tested the application with any InterVideo driver. From memory the Cyberlink decoder also works for closed captions.

You logs show its not using the Intervideo decoder any way. It fails to hook up so Directshow decides to use the Ulead decoders instead. (which might be the decoders that action cause the crash, since they've caused problems for other users in the past).

Thank you. I did try another version of the InterVideo decoder, and got the same result.

Actually, InterVideo does seem to work partially -- when I pause in Live TV and re-start playback, GB-PVR creates a temporary mpg file, and apparently uses InterVideo to play it -- it even displays the closed captions. But if I try to play back any file listed under "Recordings", GB-PVR still crashes.

I'm attaching a new set of logs that I think should show this behavior. Seems like it's very close to working -- would appreciate any additional suggestions. Thanks, phil.

I found a solution: setting the AUDIO decoder to InterVideo. It appears that GB-PVR has some limitations running certain audio decoders in combination with certain video decoders. My system default audio and video decoders both work fine together, and the InterVideo audio and video decoders work fine together. But if I run the InterVideo video decoder together with the default audio decoder, it always crashes on file playback.
