Any one else have a Sad story?
Posted by: phillyk - 2009-01-18, 08:29 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

I just recently got all the main features of GBPVR working. See here
I have been trying to get my configuration ironed out for the last 3-4 weeks.

Guess what happened today without my realizing it?
As anyone who views the attachment in the thread above may realize...
My E:\ drive is returning errors. And guess what took me 4-5 hrs to specifically realize? My E: drive had compleletly "fallen off" "died" dead, as in BIOS cannot detect & after some tinkering reported pretty major failure.
It was a cheap 500gb maxtor, with 120gb of Ripped AVI & tv show's.
and an additional 13GB of mp3 & my last 1.5 weeks worth of Tv recordings.

I was REALLY begining to get to like my GBPVR box & setup.
*quietly goes off to shed tears*

  MusicLibrary2 Version 8
Posted by: psycik - 2009-01-18, 07:56 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (25)

Hi

I was never meaning put out an ML2 8 - instead trying to get ML3 the PVRx2 version fully working.

But there was a few problems with version 7.2 that required some fixes, so I've updated the ML2 to use the common backend code that is now shared between ML2 and 3.

I've also packaged ML2 up as a version 8 by itself rather than bundle it in the ML3 Beta package. And I have also split ML3 to it's own page.

MusicLibrary2 Version 8: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MusicLibrary2

Music Library3 Version 8 BETA - http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MusicLibrary3

If you don't need all the playlist features then ML3 is probably sufficient for your needs.

  Missing Titles
Posted by: RaulDuke - 2009-01-18, 07:48 PM - Forum: Netflix Watch Now - Replies (12)

I went to the netflix website to make a list of watch now content I was interested in (I should note these were all listed as new, except for Blade Runner). When I go to the plugin, every one of the movies I was interested in is not listed. As well, some that are listed do not download, it says they are no longer available.

I was wondering if the change to Silverlight is the issue? I am not using Silverlight, still the old version are they only releasing new movies under Silverlight perhaps? One other indicator that led me to this theory is that the top 50 really only lists 23 items. The movies i was interested in were:

revolver
goodfellas
fallen
blade
Spies like us
Vacation
The six wives of henry the 8th
The last boyscout
Superman 4
Ace ventura when nature calls
road warrier add to queue
Postal
8 heads in a duffel bag

The movie that said it was no longer available was Blade Runner.

Thanks!

  Minor Config.exe problem
Posted by: richardw456 - 2009-01-18, 06:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I installed the weather plugin and the weather icons, and now when I go to config.exe it starts with "Windows is configuring your installation. I think that means that something changed in the installation, but how do I figure out what?

Recording quality setting for Quick Record?
Posted by: pgoelz - 2009-01-18, 06:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Just a quickie.... is there a way to set the default recording quality for the "Quick Record" function? I thought I saw it once, but haven't been able to turn it up when looking for it.

  Recording wrong channels.
Posted by: isgdre - 2009-01-18, 05:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi. My cable provider change the channel layout a few months ago and now some of my shows are recording on the wrong channel.

I'm using a Hauppauge ???-350 card and xrecord for priority scheduling.
I've Verified Schedules Direct.
Went into config and emptied then updated the EPG
Re-ran the TuningAssistant (What's with all the OKs anyway)
Under capture source check/unchecked the channels.
Under Channels check/unchecked the channels.
Restarted the system.
Gave it a week thinking it could be a schedule caching problem.

Only thing I didn't do was verify the channel names since I didn't know them (or care really).

What do I need to do to get it to record the correct channel?

graphRecorder: capture source disappears after setup
Posted by: Jay D. Carter - 2009-01-18, 04:46 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (7)

Hello!
I hope this is the correct forum for this issue..

I am trying to set up a capture source for a Motorola DC62xx cable box using firewire. I have created graphs which appear to work. I setup all the settings on the Graph recorder tab (A), configure the EPG, and all the settings are accepted without any errors. I close Config, then re-open config and the new capture source is missing!

A .ZIP of my logs folder is attached... the config log shows this:

2009-01-18 11:23:12.031 ERROR [1] Error creating: ExternalRecorder.ExternalRecorderConfig

...I did install the ExternalRecorder plugin before, but decided to switch to the GraphRecorder plug in. I tried removing all the External recorder files, and also tried adding them back to the proper folders. In both cases I still get this error in the log.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,
JDC

Stuttering playback in client mode via WiFi
Posted by: pgoelz - 2009-01-18, 04:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Using GBPVR 1.3.7 on WinXP P4 2.6GHZ 1GB RAM.

I know that wireless networking is not recommended for GBPVR client / server operation but hear me out.

I have found that live TV works OK in streaming (timeshift) mode. However, playback of recorded shows stutters badly in steaming mode but NOT in file sharing mode. In fact, playback is near perfect in file sharing mode, with an occasional momentary freeze where the audio continues and the video catches up.

Playback of recorded shows is even better if I use WMP for playback. No freezes.

This morning I was in streaming mode and decided to try playing a recorded show. It stuttered badly so I stopped it and re-configured for file sharing mode. And it STILL stuttered badly. Starting, stopping, and even re-starting GBPVR did not resolve the stuttering. However, it played 100% perfectly in WMP11. Is this perhaps a clue to why it stutters in the first place? I used to think it was a network issue or perhaps a resource issue within the client machine (which was not recording at the time BTW), but now I am thinking it is more a GBPVR thing. Maybe it doesn't handle network traffic as well as WMP? Remember, WMP plays the recordings perfectly via WiFi. Is there THAT much extra overhead in GBPVR during plaback to saturate the network? If so, could it be reduced?

I'd really like to get streaming mode working over WiFi.... GBPVR would be just about perfect at that point. Wink

Paul
