I was one of the people that had the vcredist problem, and I fixed it by downloading the vcredist package directly from this site! If you download them from microsoft's site they may not work.
I have just replaced my HDD after finding it was not working very well.
I changed the drive letters from the original drive from "D" to "F" and made the new drive "D" then copied all the recordings over.
No my mistake I am guessing was that I had GBPVR running, as now I have lost a lot of recordings from the recorkdings list although they are available throught explorer.
Is there anyway I can recover this so they can be access easily, or do I rename te files to a logical name and move to my video's directory and access from there.
Not a GBPVR issue, but since you all are so smart
The last real bug my new client has is that it will go into standby fine, but when I bring it out, it locks up. It looks like it comes out of standby fine and everything works, but in about 2 seconds, the HDD light comes on solid and in about 10 seconds the controls stop working and soon there after, the screen goes black. I can't seem to find out what is locking the HDD. The specs are listed below. Any ideas on troubleshooting?
Santa left a 1TB drive under the tree for me this year, and I've just got round to trying to migrate to it. I really don't want to do a ground up re-build so I've been trying to image the old drive onto the new.
I am essentially trying to replicate the above but with a bigger recordings partition, it doesnt matter if the xpress recovery partion is lost in the transfer as that can be re-created once up and running.
So I've been using paragon hard disk manager on my work computer to try and copy the image across, and once copied I can see all the files on the new drive but when I chuck it back in my HTPC I get a disk read error when it tries to boot. Its obviosly missing some critical boot/MBR etc.. files.
How have other people achived this, what software? Norton Ghost?
Actualy i have a lot of question, but first let me start explaining my whole project and then i will ask the question. My project consist of building a set-top box that lets you view Internet-based content on your TV, "WITHOUT CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER". So that mean i will have my own server and the set-top box will connect to my server using the ethernet connection from the router. In my TV i will see 3 menu (Video, Music, Picture) and afcorse the setting menu. From there i will choose to view the video files or the music... And then watch. Same thing as the sagetv theater, the roku box... So after i did a lot of research on digital media receiver (DMR) and other topics related to the project, i found first the hauppage mediamvp and also other product. And after i found this project mvpmc and i thaugh this is the jackpot. But after reading a lot on the project i had a lot of question to myself. So if you guys can help answer my question it will be appreciated :
1) When using the mvpmc, i understant that we need the pc to install the files. And i understant that if you need to view your computer files (video,music...) you will need to run the pc first. But my question is, if if i have my files already in my server, do i need the pc to run? So basicly my question is "for files located in a server, do we need the pc to be running so i can view the files using mediamvp and mvpmc?"
2) I understant that you can modified the frontend menu of the mvpmc, so here my question is do we still need the pc to run?
3) one of my files that is on my server its a "ASF" files so i was asking my self if mvpmc can play those files?
i will stop on those 3 question, and ask the others after. But please if you can do me a favor and help me in this project, i will really appreciated.
I would like a capability to be notified whenever a program is discovered in the schedule. Here's what I mean:
Sometimes when I am watching a movie channel such as "Encore Avenue", a preview will announce a movie that I want to record e.g. "Dirty Harry" , "... coming this month to Encore", and sometimes "... coming Next Month to Encore."
So, I quickly access my PVR SEARCH GUIDE function, only to find that "Dirty Harry" is not yet scheduled (therefore it's beyond 15 days into the future.)
My wish is that I would be presented with some buttons "Look for this program for 30 days", "Look for this program for 60 days", "Look for this program Forever", "Do Nothing"
If I click "Look for this program for x days", it would be added to a temporary list until such date that the program is recorded, or the time-to-age expires.
If I click "Look for this program Forever", it would be added to a permanent list until such date that the program is recorded.
"Do Nothing", simply means that I want to close the window without any action.
Therefore the Wish List would be akin to the "Recurring" type, but without a first recording date/time as of yet. The PVR would continue its scan of the guide upon each update to locate the date/time of the first recording.
Subsequently, in the RECORDINGS function, I could see the usual Ready, Whats New, Pending, Recurring, Conflicts and so forth.
A New Status would appear: Wish List
When I click on the Wish List catagory, a list of all of the shows that I want to find appears. e.g. Dirty Harry would be among the list.
The status would be Wish List until <date> or Wish List Permanent
or if it was newly discovered in the schedule, it would have a Pending status with the first match.
There needs to be a capability to "Cancel from Wish List upon first recording" (if it's a movie), and "Keep last x recordings" (if it's an upcoming series), or "Keep on Wish List Until I Delete it", or "Keep first x matches" (in case it's uncertain whether the first match is indeed the program being sought -- such is the possibility if the criterion is a common word like "Space")
There also needs to be a capability to Cancel the item from the Wish List.
I want to mention that the search criteria might match on multiple programs. For example if my search criterion for the Wish List was "Space". Several programs might contain the word "Space" within their title. If this is the case, the first occurence becomes Pending for recording (even if it's the wrong program!) That way, the tuner is reserved to detect recording conflicts.
To resolve multiple matches, the PVR user can perform a "Find All" function to look for other matches, then Update the Pending recording, or can manually "Cancel" the Pending recording. Doing so will not remove the Program from the Wish List as a matching recording hasn't yet occurred. The next time that the schedule is updated, PVR will try to match program names (Whoops, I update my listing daily, even though I have a 15 day schedule. I don't want a previously excluded match from becoming Pending again. This condition will influence design.)
The reason for defaulting to record first x matches/the wrong program rather than let it pass by, is that some broadcasts only occur once in a long while. It's better to chance an easy-to-delete extraneous recording, than to miss a chance to record a rare showing.
This is all to say "It would be nice if the PVR could keep a permanent look out for desired program titles, and record them as they arrive, even if they do not yet appear within the guide."
I run my media center 24/7/365 with GBPVR. I use the program for watching movies/playing music/game emulators and do not record anything. The system is a dual core Intel 2.6Mhz with 2GB of RAM.
I noticed that after awhile the GUI starts becoming sluggish (scrolling thru the options taking longer, etc). When I check Task Manager I see PVRX2.EXE memory usage >300MB. The other day it was around 800MB!
So a couple of days ago I restarted the exe and watched it in Task Manager. It started at around 70MB but within a couple of minutes it was almost at 100MB with doing nothing in the program. It stabilized at 100MB, but this morning it was up to 345MB. Since a couple of days ago I have only watched a downloaded TV show, rest of the time it's been idle running the GBPVR screensaver.
Is this normal?
