I have spent a couple hours trying to get GBPVR set up to work with my new HDHR but have so far been unsuccessful. The HDHR works, I can view any of the channels using HDHRSetup and VLC.
In configuring GBPVR, on the Capture Sources tab, I have set up both tuners, and have successfully updated the EPG using SchedulesDirect (trial), but when I click "Map digital channels to EPG channels", there are no channels found.
I'm not sure what I'm missing... Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
This utility will write various ini files for scanning qam channels. Simply place the executable in the folder of your choice and run it. Select the ini you want by clicking the button. Vista users will need to "Run as Administrator".
There are three groups:
Default with channel numbers: This will use channel numbers. The default type of qam.ini for GBPVR.
Default with channel frequencies: Uses the standard frequencies mapped by Windows instead of channel numbers.
Center channel frequencies: This is the standard frequencies minus the 1.75kHz offset. Some tuners like the HDHomeRun and Pinnacle will automatically add the offset.
Each group has three options to help minimize scan time:
Full: This will create a qam.ini with all 159 channels available to cable.
70+: This will create a qam.ini with 90 channels (70-159).
70-138: This will create a qam.ini with 69 channels. Most cable providers use this range for QAM channels.
If the location of your GBPVR install cannot be found in the registry, the qam.ini will be written to the current working folder.

When I try to look at the TV Guide in EWA, it is empty. There are no shows or channels listed, although the TV Guide tab is there. Here is a screenshot:

I reinstalled EWA v77, from a zip just downloaded from the wiki, but it didn't help.
The problem started shortly after I started using the SchedulesDirect Utilities, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
I am using GB-PVRv1.2.13, on Vista Home Premium 32bit. I usually use FF 3.0.3, but I tried it with IE 7.0.6001.18000, and the guide is empty with that, too.
While reading the requirements on GBPVR for this card I see that it is supported, my question however is and I know it is going to sound silly but do I need a splitter from my main cable to the HVR1600 in order to get both analog and digital, or can I just plug on in and it will work?
Also can you while recording a show watch another show on a different live channel?
I've had this in the back of my mind for ages, well a fair while now.
Though this forum has to be about the best, in fact THE best for support in sorting of problems it's that I just feel that I've always been let down by the Wiki.
I'm potentially sticking my neck on the line here but........
The reason for doing this now is the nasty little trojan that got through Sub's back door the other day, so my thought process got engaged: As the front page is under reconstruction I thought why not some other stuff too, and that would be the Wiki.
Why do I, as a seasoned GBPVR/PVRX2 user, still find it so hard to find the detail I want without having to trawl through multiple posts before making sure mine is a first problem...........?
Well of course it is quite fun posting but sometimes it is nice to read a manual and get a quick response from the written word contained therewithin.
I would argue that the Wiki DOES NOT do this.
It is out of date.

I recently picked up a Hauppauge MCE remote. This is the black one that comes with the HVR-1600s and it has the red, green, yellow, and blue buttons at the bottom. Just below those buttons it has a black button with a square with a T in it. I've looked all the Hauppauge site and I can't find any documentation for this remote and it's keys . . . any idea what that button is for?
I've started the process of upgrading my GBPVR setup to the most recent version so I can use the HVR-1600 for clearQAM tuning and (hopefully/eventually) with a NMT as the client device. I would like to use this thread to track my progress and any issues I run into.
Story so far:
Installed WinXP MCE 2005 with all the necessary updates and then installed the hauppauge software from their website (both the drivers as well as the WinTV 6 application). Also installed the basic Via audio driver for the on-board audio on my PC Chips M811 board. I then fired up MCE as a test and confirmed it was tuning the analog channels as expected.
Then ran MC2XML twice to generate the XML listing files for the analog and digital sides, fired up GBPVR config and added the analog tuner. Next, I switched the RG6 cable from the analog to the digital input on the HVR-1600 and went into GBPVR config again to add the ClearQAM source and scanned for and mapped only the local NBC channel to the appropriate channel in the guide for test purposes. Now the fun starts:
a) When I went into PVRX2 and brought up the guide, it listed the guide for the analog side as expected. But the clearQAM channel I had mapped kept saying something similar to "no show information". Not sure why?
b) Even though the guide didnt show the program data, I was able to manually record about 10 minutes of the show (Tonite show with Jay Leno) thru the clearQAM tuner using the DVR_MS mux and then with the TS mux. Noticed (in Gspot as well as WMP and VLC on a different computer) that the generated files (with both multiplexers) were in the expected HD resolution (1080i), but audio was only 2-channel stereo. My understanding is that this show is broadcast with 5.1 sound, so am wondering if I need to install an audio codec to get the 5.1 sound? I havent installed any audio drivers since I understand sub has mentioned in the past that for digital TV, it doesnt use any separate encoders and the raw audio/video stream is directly dumped on the hdd. So what am I missing to get 5.1 sound? Thoughts?
I've changed the system I use to generate the XML Channel Lists, It's will be regenerated each night at midnight. I've been testing this for a last month and it appears to working fine. It correctly handled the change in channel names from UK GOLD to Watch for example.
