I thought I had everything exactly how I wanted it and would have no more problems

This has happened each time I tried watching a movie to completion.

The scene will freeze. It won't always freeze at the same spot, as I'm able to finish the movie upon reboot if I forward to that spot.

The scene freezes. Nothing. Ctrl-alt-del shows it "Not Responding" - so I try to end the programme. It won't actually end. It'll cause a "serious windows error" and my machine will reboot.

Attached are my logs. Thank you so much for helping me, I really like this so much better than the others I tried!

One other thing, it doesn't matter if it is a Movie Only DVD rip or full disc, it seems to just be any movie I have, random, at some-time USUALLY toward the end, but in this instance that I'm posting it was fairly early on.

I've been using GBPVR for a while and thought I give an MVP a go in the spare room. And I've got a few questions:

Firstly I seem to be having some trouble with channel changing, but it seems to only be BBC1, if I go from the TV guide to BBC1 its ok, if I then change to BBC2 or seemingly any other channel (without going back to the guide) it is also ok if I then change back to BBC1 I get corrupt BBC1 audio and a frozen corrupt image, changing back to the previous channel restores normality but any repeat attempt to get to BBC1 shows the same problem.

All this btw is with 1.2.13 with its bundled dongle server>cat5>router>cat5>mvp, MVP version is D3a, cap card in the server is NovaT500, Haupp MVP s/w not installed.

I will post logs tomorrow when I have a chance to clear them and replicate, I could post tonight but someone would have to wade though lots of irrelavent stuff.

Secondly
I had a look at the MVPMC dongle had a read and got confused. What the hell is emulation mode, I didn't seem to be able to get it to do anything, and why is there Myth tv references in the menus, is this relavent to gbpvr.
If anyone can point me at a plain english explanation I would be grateful.

Trying to record DVB-T broadcasts installed a HVR-900H. It works most of the time but occasionally it will de-install or not be recognised. This manifests itself as 1) gbpvr tries to record, creates a zero byte file, tries again with a new file with suffix -1 and again no bytes. 2) going to config and rescanning, gbpvr finds the device but scans shows no channels. Have to reboot to fix it.

After trying all the USB ports on the machine, thought it might the HVR-900 so bought a Nova-T 500 and tried that. Disappointing the same problem occurs

Just wondering if I am missing something here in the installation. It works most of the time but the intermittent failures means I miss out shows and have to reboot to get the device recognised again

I am looking at getting DirecTV in the next month or so, and I'd like to continue using GBPVR instead of the boring PVR they provide. So.....

After much research, I found out that the newer DirecTV receivers have a USB connection on the back, and with this you can control some functions of the receiver. But in order to use this from a PC, you had to get a Serial-to-USB adapter and a null modem. Then you had to use a DB9 serial port on your PC.

As most of us know, a lot of PCs don't have DB9 serials on them anymore, but a ton of USB. So I found this cable: http://tinyurl.com/5d3uw3

Seems to me like it will work. I am hoping to try one out soon and see if it works. Just wanted to point it out to those on DirecTV that may want to look at it as well.

after installing VMWare Player 2.0.4 I lost connectivity between GBPVR server and MVP: The MVP wasn't able to start emulation mode and after restarting both machines, even was not able to boot. GBPVR logs are fine as if something is disturbing the communication without even been recognized by GBPVR.

So I stopped all of the VMWare services - as far as I have recognized them as such - and tried again with same result. After un-installing VMWare Player the MVP worked as before.

Any ideas what to do? I'd like to have VMWare Player to do some linux experiments...

I'm using this card with Freeview in NZ and wanted to know if it's possible to record 2 channels at once on the Skystar 2.

I had this same PC setup with Mediaportal and could record 2 channels at once as long as they where on the same channel, ie I could record TV1 and TV2 at the same time or record TV1 and watch TV2. Or I could watch TV3 and record C4.

I thought about setting up the tuner as 2 cards in GBPVR and assign all channels to each but I see that I can't create a device one and device two for the same card.

Any insite would be appreciated.

I just recently put together a new htpc system and I'm running into some issues with my Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800. The analog input works fine, but I can't get the other (digital) input to work at all. I've tried connecting a normal antenna and scanning for atsc channels. I've tried connecting my cable and scanning for QAM. No matter what, nothing is ever found. Both of these sources work fine when connected directly to my TV, so I know that some channels exist in my area.

I've tried several different programs (gbpvr, mediaportal, beyondtv), so I don't think it's software related. But I've installed the latest drivers for the capture card, and I don't know what else to even try. Is there something else I have to set up to get the hardware to work? Is it just a bad card? Any ideas?

While watching the recordings of the Olympics from the NZ FreeviewHD, I notice that it always skip frames during fast action scenes.

Usually this is a sign of slow hardware but I'm using PDVD7, monogram AAC 0.9.5.0 and 8600GT hardware acceleration. CPU utilisation is about 10-15%.

Has anyone else noticed this and can suggest what to look for to fix it?

Hi, I have a pvr receiver and the only reason for getting a tv tunner card was to be able to free some of that disk space. I've had movies in there for a while so I wanna transfer them to my computer. I went ahead and purchsed a hauppauge pvr 350 card. Not sure if it was a good purchase for my usage but I went ahead and installed it along with drivers and other programs it comes with and it seems to be working. Later found out their programs don't support cc although the card apparently does. And that's why I'm on this forum. My setup is simple, I don't need to download program guides and I'm not interested in off air locals. I have a composite cable going into the card. Am I able to record video with cc in it? I think I meet all requirements, I have Microsoft .net runtime v2.0, The DirectX 9.0b and as far as I know my settings are correct. Yet when I click on live tv nothing happens. What am I missing?

First of all to test the connection I connected a dse freeview receiver and all channels work fine.

Now I have configured both instances of the dual tuner and have the channels scanned and epg (although the second tuner is missing some channels but that is another issue).

When I go to live TV I get no picture or sound just a black screen. No idea what I am missing. Refer to the attached logs.
