I searched these forums for info on using the Avermedia Remotes with gbpvr.
All I found was refference to an Avermedia remote that contected to the tuner card via the S-Video port on the card. In those threads there wasn't any support in gbpvr for that type of remote connection.
The newest Aver remote connects to the PC via USB.

The retail price on the remote is about $20 USD
As you can see it is USB and is supplied with the IR receiver dongle.
Since this is different from the older Aver remotes is there now or is there going to be and builtin suopport for this remote as there is for the Hauppauge remotes?
From what I gather the Aver A180 is a popular card being used with gnpvr.
It certainly would be nice to have this remote directly supported so one does not have to use Girder or HIP.
I was wondering where my Manual Recordings went as I expect to find them under the show name, instead they appeared in a dir called Manual Recordings as a sub-dir to my Recordings dir.
The weird thing is the shows themselves did not turn up in the recordings list (or Xrecord) I had to import them manually??? :confused:
I'm trying to develop a plugin that should show some info using the OSD. I used IVideoPlugin in my class definition, but whenever I try to activate it (with 4+F11) the OSD hangs (movie playback continues w/o problems) and none of the IVideoPlugin methods of my plugin get called.

I tried to remove the standard VideoPlugins (TV Guide, ProcAmp, OSD Menu and Live Guide) from the config file w/o success or any change in the log entries.
I'm running this on a development machine without any capture devices and channels configured. The EPG is empty.
Can anyone think of a way to have one key press which puts the computer into standby (or hibernate for that matter)? Within windows its ctrl+esc+u+enter but I'm thinking that would cause GB-PVR to lose focus.
Going up or down several menu items to "system" then down to "standby" is far too much like hard work!
What I want to do is get the keyboard shortcut, then map this to my hauppauge remote in case that made any difference to the answer. Don't MS remotes have a one-button solution for this within MCE?
Hi All, I'm going to be converting to HD soon having made the first step - getting the TV. Hopefully the Hauppauge overheat problems will be solved by the time I order mine.
Anyway, my question: I've noted in several posts folks mentioning channel changing (on compatible set top boxes) using firewire instead of an ir blaster.
For those using it, how did you get it working with GB-PVR and what additional software are you using with it as a bridge between the two?

It seems like all the companies that ever may become a tuner card came together and decided at the get-go to make their programs crappy and barely functional. One thing I can't stand those Titan TV, primarily for the reason that I can't record whole seasons at a click of a button. So I started hunting for third-party program. So far GB-PVR has been only one to work and have the features I want. Thanks for making life a little easier and integrating the EPG. Onto some general questions/requests/info.
I would appreciate if you would update your program to run with the new FusionHDTV7 line up. Especially adding support for my card, right now I have it running on Fusion HDTV RT gold (ATSC).
My card can record two digital or analog programs at once.
Correct me if I'm wrong according to GB-PVR wiki page the program doesn't support one card recording two programs at once unless one's digital and other analog.
Last but not least is it's possible to get my remote to function with the program. So far I've had no luck. Now finally onto the problem. *eyes bleeding by now*
I get errors when downloading the EPG from schedules direct.[I'm on their seven-day trial, one day has already passed] [I need to figure out if I can get this to work before the trial ends]
I've taken screenshots of the error and uploaded them as pic.zip. Also when I try to empty the EPG GB-PVR configuration freezes and I have to go to Windows task manager and end the program. *massive headache*
I have tried finding what's causing these problems on this forum. Yes I have tried searching as well.
I am really puzzled why live tv works flawlessly on the pch and I can pause and resume playback as well with no problems.
But every recording breaks up when I stream it to the popcorn. It appears to break up on the laptop as well but it is only a dell d600 with 1.4Gz mobile processor and 512Mb ram so not sure if playback on the laptop is because of the low power of the processor.
Is recording streamed differently than live tv or when viewed live through the tv guide? Is the format of the file any different or could I have changed something that would make recordings a different format?
I live in Australia so I am using a dvico fusion usb dvb-t tuner, running xp service pack 3 and directx 9c. It did the same when I was using service pack 2 as well. I read in this forum about the quartz thing but supposedly this was fixed in service pack 3.
I haven't changed any settings in gbpvr except for the ones in the guide, setup the tuner and channels, and also changed to ts mux as this appears like the only one that works for me on the pch. I have left the conversion part as "no conversion".
OK after a reinstall, wipe, regclean and replacement of db file plus config.xml, added Xrecord & MoviewIZ plugins, I am "almost" back to normal" BUT .... LiveTV is OK on PC and not on the MVP?

Whenever I look for alternative PVR software for my Winfast USB ll TV Tuner, the first thing I look for is a list of compatible TV Tuners. I never see any. I don't want to do a hit or miss deal from guesses. Would be nice to have a Sticky with listed TV Tuners that this software works with.
I just upgraded my HTPC probably to the point of overkill (at least for how I'm currently using it). I'm far from a GBPVR newbie, but I'm definitely not a very techie user like quite a few of the long-time users. I currently have one Hauppauge PVR500 and a Hauppauge PVR150 (for a total of 3 tuners). My HTPC is hooked up directly to a 42" plasma HDTV by way of a DVI to HDMI cable, and I also use two MediaMVP's on a 60" DLP HDTV and a another 42" plasma HDTV. I just recently moved to a new home and had Comcast cable forced on me. To get any HD programming you have to pay extra and go through a STB. Since most of my family doesn't really appreciate the difference, I only subscribed to one STB that's hooked up to the same 42" plasma as the HTPC.
Now....I've searched, I've read, read again, searched again, read again...and now my head is spinning. So I'd like to humbly pose some questions to those more knowledgeable than me:
1. Should I switch out one of my analog TV cards for something like a Hauppauge HVR1600?
2. Would I be able to even use it with Comcast (I'm hoping other Comcast customers will know because every Comcast tech I've talked to seems to know less about Comcast than I do). I'm admittedly confused by what each cable provider actually provides in terms of HD broadcasts and what cards can actually tune in.
3. Is the config/channel listing a pain? It seems to be a lot more complicated than my old analog PVR cards, but I can't get a good grip on all that's required.
4. How are recordings handled in a mixed system like that? Say I have a PVR500 and a HVR1600. How many tuners total would that give me (3 analog and one HD or ???), and would GBPVR get confused about recording HDTV versus regular? For example, would GBPVR recognize that I only have one HD tuner installed, so if I schedule two HD shows to record at the same time, would GBPVR report a scheduling conflict or how would that be handled?
5. Regarding the HVR1600 itself -- as I understand it, it has one HD tuner and one analog tuner, correct? So, if I bought and installed two HVR1600 (replacing my PVR500 and PVR150), would that give me two HD and two analogy tuners? I guess I'm confused by what "analog" means when its describing what I thought was an HD tuner. Is it a separate analog tuner that just records regular TV or does it still only record some form of HD?
Playback questions:
1. Can I playback HD recordings over the MVPs? I don't care if it's really HDTV or not at the MVP end, but just want to know if it can play it.
2. I'm confused by HD playback in general. Do I have to play it back through the HVR1600 (and therefore have another direct connection from my HTPC to the TV) or would it just playback over the DVI to HDMI connection that already exists?
I hope I'm making this more complicated than it actually is. It would be great to know that I've just researched it too much and ended up confusing myself. I thought I was a fairly technical guy, and I've been able to follow most posts here without too much of an issue. But this HD thing is just giving me all kinds of mental problems. I just don't know if it's worth it or not for me to get the HVR1600 and start dabbling with HD. If it can't be used with Comcast, then it would be pretty much worthless to me, because I know that we get little to no OTA HD channels. I think that as long as it's less complicated than I'm making it out to be, I could probably get everything up and going. Afterall, I've solved quite a few of my own GBPVR problems in the past, so it's not like I'm the retard that this post is probably making me out to be. Haha.
So...if there's anyone with more knowledge (and a little patience) who can square me away on this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it. And sorry this post is so long.
