I used to just insert DVD and GBPVR will start them. I have not used this in a while, but when I tried yesterday I still had to choose DVD from menu. Can someone remind me how to make this work again?
I have the Hauppauge WinTv-HVR 1800 MCE Kit. I am running Windows XP pro, but I bought the MCE kit because I wanted the remote and the IR Blaster. I've got a set-top box for Telus IPTV.
I can watch TV but can only change channels with the set-top remote.
I've tried installing the drivers, but when I try to set up the config it says that "No IR Blaster Hardware Found".
'm thinking now about getting the Hauppauge HVR 1600 to replace my HVR 1800.
My hope is that, because me OS is only Windows XP pro, and not MCE, this card with IR blaster will work.
Does anyone see any reason why this won't work. Does anyone see any drawbacks to the HVR 1600 from the 1800.
I've tried HIP and IR Server Suite, and I just can't get them to work.
Do we think the BlastConfig will work for Telus TV here in Vancouver?
I'm using the Antec Fusion v2 case with ther built in VFD and IR reciever. However, I need to blast to my set top box. Do we think the built in IR reciever is going to cause problems as well?
If my PCs are behind a NAT router, and I only view trusted websites, only use web based email and don't follow spam links or download unknown attachments, and don't use portable storage that's been anywhere other than my camera, do I really need AV software????

as usual, i love this software. best pvr software that is out there.
i have a small problem
i took an old laptop (t41) and installed it as a client.
i checked both 7967 & 7968 ports and they are open.
i can see the epg and recording so no problem there.
i can play it via filesharing and via media player so its not a decoder issue.
now here where it is wierd
when i access recording i can see all the recordings and when i play one of them i get a black window with the counter running.
so i checked the logs on the client and server and i can see on the server that its starting to stream media.
now, here it is where it becomes weird.
to save space, i use the compression to xvid at 1 am option.
i can see live tv via streaming and it works great.
it is connected via 5cat lan (wifi wasnt good enough)
now if i record a tv show and watch it from the client when it is still mpg, i have no problem. i can see it and play it via the recording window.
now if i try to play a recording show that already been compressed to xvid, the windows is still black.
the logs on the server shows streaming begins but the client is not playing

I tried to add a city to the weather plug-in and it doesn't get to the point where it lists the cities for me to pick one.
In PVRX2.exe.log there is an entry
2008-08-01 04:31:46.257 ERROR [11] Weather plug-in: Could not find any cities in California (code of California)
I tired this for several countries and get the same results.
Is anyone else having this same problem?
Has something changed at the site where the plug-in gets its information that requires a program mod in the plug-in? I was able to add a city about a month and a half ago.

I am going to buy a network disk to be able to find pictures, MP3 and MPEG2 and also other files without having the computer running. One problem I see seems to be that most are Linux so it is not native windows filesharing? - but on the other hand maybe not a problem?
I have today a MediaMVP - I do not know if that can handle networkdisks.
Popcorn hour seems as one alternative which seems to work with GBPVR but there are many network disk manufacturers.
With each recording I got srt file, but I don't want it! How can I get rid of it?
I have 'Capture teletext subtitles to SRT' unchecked. So, why do I get SRT with my recordings!?
I didn't have this before. But recently my computer crashed, so I reinstalled everything, including GBPVR. Since then, I got SRT with each recording. I am running 1.2.9 version.
PS: I don't want srt, because there is nothing to be captured in it.
