I have three MVPs connected to three CRTs. The picture was very good on all sets and was equal to cable TV. I recently replaced the 32 inch CRT with a 40" Sony LCD. The cable picture is great, but is terrible when watching recorded programs through the MVP, much worse than the CRT. I tried replacing the video input with a S-video cable but the picture quality is still worse than a VHS.
Is this typical, or am I doing something wrong?

I'm trying to test out a few XML configurations and I've made to provider change. From what I've experience and I've been reading the best way to go when changing your linup is to remove the channels and then update your EPG.
What is the best way to do this? Do I have to clear the channels one at a time by hitting remove? Selecting multiple channels doesn't remove them just one. Channels are listed correctly under the capture config but not under channels.
P.S. This should make it into the wiki I've seen a few questions around this, None concerning method of large removal if not digging in the database with an external program, but nothing in the wiki on this procedure at all.
I've got GB-PVR set up and it seems to record just fine, but I was wondering if it was possible to set a maximum recording time so that if, say, I recorded a 2-hour movie, the program would split it into thirty-minute segments as it went?
On a possibly related note, it seems like I can't acess the Setting option from the program's menu. It loads for half a second and then immediately returns to the main menu.
I have tried searching for this, but am not sure exactly what to search under. What I want to do is to auto set the channels in the tuning request. When I map my digital channels to EPG channels it pulls about 200 channels. The thing is only about 10 channels work out of those 200 because I am using the clearQAM tuner and only want the local channels. It pulls every channel the cable company provides, but obviously most are blocked/scrambled except for the locals.
So back to my question. Is there a way to set it so the EPG only pulls the channels that work ie local. Or even a way to autoset the tuning request mode so I don't have to go through and check/uncheck all 200 channels and try to match up the 10 channels in that list.
Sorry if this is confusing, I am just trying to find an easier way than having to go through all the channels to find what ones work then figuring out what channel it actually is then having to set it to the channel in the EPG tuning request.
Has anyone here got an MX-850 remote and can supply me a copy of the editor software? In a recent machine rebuild I lost the copy I originally downloaded about 2 years ago, and the URC website is now requiring me to register my remote to download the software, using the serial# that I cant find in my battery compartment...

I'm building a new HTPC (probably XP Pro), going to use it to view/record freeview (New Zealand) DVB-T using GB-PVR. One thing important to me - a quiet PC (if you could hear my current one you'd understand). Here are my main components, wondering if anyone has any comments or words of caution... in particular anyone got an htpc case from Lian (with their built-in IR remote)?
Video Card: Leadtek PX8500 GT TDH HDMI (fanless ;-) ), GeForce 8500 GT, 256MB, DDR2, PCIe-16
A/D Capture card: Hauppauge WinTV HVR 2200, PCIe (sounds like a goodie)
Case: Lian Li PC-C30IB (with VFD and IR Remote)
Other bits - may be a bit over-spec'd for a PVR, but I want to be able to do dev work/compile on this too

I've stopped developing the original (command-line) version so I've taken it off the wiki as any new instals will fail as a result of recent changes to the Service Information which is broadcast on Freeview.
The new version uses the DvbtrService only so installation is slightly more involved the first time round. Any further upgrades will need the service to be stopped before copying in new files.
It's pretty much just a bug-fix to cater for the new SI broadcast data - I am still working on new features when I get the time.

Found this when I was searching for a way to use my old Hauppauge remote to switch my HTPC on and off. I think the MCE remotes are nicer because you don't have to mess with the hardware, but this seems like a good option.
I was going to set the power button to go to standby if I used this so I could standby the machine with the remote.
When setting up the HD Homerun box, I select GBPVR as the app but it also asks if I am using Digital Cable or OTA Antenna. I believe this is so it can pull the correct channel lineup from Schedules Direct. In the past I used Knoppmyth which required that I use OTA in setup ALTHOUGH I am actually pulling the unencrypted HD channels from digital cable. With that being said in the HDHR setup I selected digital cable as this just seems more intuitive to me. FYI, I have both channel lineups set up on the Schedules Direct site. So is the digital cable lineup the one that I should use???
