Hi all, long time hardware and software enthusiest, noobie PVR setup. First off wanted to thank Sub for an excellent piece of software, kudo's for pulling something like this off as a solo developer.
I swear though that setting up a PVR is either like pulling teeth or I've just had a really bad run of luck. I've been doing hardware for many years and honestly didn't think setting up a PVR would be all that difficult especially with so many great resources out there on how to do it. I've had no trouble getting GBPVR up and running and doing pretty much everything except Live TV. As soon as I add Live TV into the mix it just keeps falling apart in one way or another.
Here's my core system specs:
Gigabyte GA-946 MX-S2 (Intel chipset)
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz
2g OCZ SOE DDR2 SDRAM
EVGA nVidia e-GeForce 6200 LE (256mb)
Hauppauge HVR-1600 (first try)
Hauppauge HVR-1250 (second try)
Windows XP Pro SP3 (w/latest hotfixes and updates)

No anti-virus, no anti-spyware, windows firewall disabled at the service level. Just a basic install with core components only.
I've been through two Hauppauge cards so far and no luck really. Essentially here's what went down:
First tried with the Hauppauge HVR 1600. All windows updates done, all drivers running the latest versions. Got GBPVR up and running without a hitch - videos, music, radio, all working perfect. Was looking good so I moved the box from my study/lab to the living room and gave it a live coax feed to start setting up Live TV. Everything looked good at first then disaster...
Suddenly the remote just wouldn't respond anymore. So before blaming it on GBPVR I fired up WinTV and same behavior - the remote worked only 30% of the time. I doubled checked the plug in the back where the IR plugs in because I heard that due to it not always going in caused similar problems. Pulled it out then put it back and heard a nice firm click. Even changed the batteries in the remote twice. And yup, I made sure the drivers and software for IR.exe was running the latest/greatest from Hauppauge.
So I did a system restore back to just before installing GBPVR and went through the steps again... Same thing - everything worked fine until I got Live TV going. In fact this time the remote actually worked for all of about 5 minutes tops. So I Googled until my Googler was sore and could find nothing concrete on the remote issue. :mad:
Frustrated and figuring this was a hardware/driver issue, I returned the card to Circuit City and swapped it for the HVR-1250 (staying miles away from Pinnacle after all the bad reviews). System Restore again, rinse, lather, repeat... Well at least this time the remote has been good (mostly - still dies when I go into WinTV - depends on if I'm viewing the lower analog channels or the digital channels) and no trouble at all in GBPVR (although I do occasionally have to RestartIR if I jump back and forth between GBConfig and GBPVR too frequently) . Well, almost... Now I can't get Live TV in GBPVR to work at all.
I know the 1250 isn't natively supported by GBPVR so I modified the BDA.INI file as instructed by Sub in another post. Scanned the channels, mapped a few to EPG for testing purposes - basically followed all the steps in the other post. Launched GBPVR and selected Live TV... I get a black screen for a few secs then back to the menu.
Not sure what to change now... I'd be pulling my last hairs out if I weren't completely bald already.
Somehow or other when I stopped playing a recording running in normal full screen mode with window bar and maximise and minimise buttons displayed I managed to toggle PVR2 into full screen mode with no borders or window frames or buttons using my mouse keys, but I couldn't return to normal full screen with frames and maximise and minimise buttons and was thus unable to return to Windows XP until I exited PVR2.
Is there a button combination to get into borderless full screen mode and if so what is it and what is the combination to get back to framed mode and Windows XP without exiting PVR2?
I realize I probably missed something, but I can't seem to get the MVPPosition plugin to load. I put the DLL in the plugins directory and nothing happens anywhere...
Is there anything else I need to do to get it working?
I was reading the other thread "upgrading for HD" and the PCH was recommended, and it got me to thinking. The Bird scene is the only thing I've found so far that will choke my HTPC to death twice over (100% on one core, 60+% on core two). I'm wondering how it fares with the bird scene. Anyone with a PCH wanna give it a try? Or perhaps has tried? Curiosity....ohhh the curiosity...
I'm new to GBPVR, but not to DVB-T.
In the past year I've been using:
last free version of DVBWebScheduler(4.0.14) to record DVB-T into .ts format;
VLC to view the recordings (& subtitles if needed);
ProjectX to demux, clean recordings and extract subtitles I wish to archive onto dvd.
I'm trying to use GBPVR to replace the 3 bits of software I use.
Problem 1 - BDA Muxer

Am I right in thinking I shouldn't need one if I wish to record into .ts?
In GB-PVR config/Misc2/BDA Multiplexer, I tried both options
Microsoft MVR-MS
TS Mux.
I get audio errors when using either of them.
With DVR-MS the audio looses sync the video after about 30 seconds.
With TS Mux, the audio stays in sync, but fades/blips evey 2 seconds.
I use VLC 0.8.6f to play them back.
Does this suggests there is something wrong with my system setup?
When I use DVBWebScheduler to record in .ts it seems to play back fine.
I seem to be missing something!
Problem 2 - Subtitles

Do I need to record in .ts to preserve the DVB-T subtitles?
When I used a Cyberlink MPEG Muxer, I get .mpg without the option of seeing the subtitles.
Would it be possible to use GB-PVR to
a) record into .ts format
b) playback .ts files?
It seems to do a) already - but I can't get it to work properly!
Would it be possible for users to plugin a player like VLC to achieve b)?
I am missing some channels (DVB-T UK). It is really strange because on one PC I was missing E4. Then with that tuner moved to a different computer I am missing E4 and now Film4. I tried adding it manually but it won't let me copy paste in the details.
GBPVR is excelent... it is all working really well except this missing couple of channels! Please help, any ideas?

I'm trying to remove all traces of the Cyberlink MUX as when I ran MuxChecker it listed the same file (c:\windows\MpgMux.ax) twice, one before the ATI mux and one after. When I unregistered the file and then moved it away the MuxChecker still showed the second copy. I removed all traces I could find in the registry and now I get the following:

I have been having a heck of a time with my new VISTA install, especially after SP1. The USB-UIRT just doesn't work half the time. I contacted the vendor, he said it's a microsoft issue. So I did a bit of a google and sure enough...

I've missed so many recordings, or rather I have taped so many programs of the channel it was last on, as the USB-UIRT is not "firing" IR signals. It sometimes works on the PC after a reboot, but via teh MVP is just not doing it, or it works once, then stops, or works until I sleep, then stops. It's so frustrating.
Anyone else have USB-UIRT and VISTA SP1? k.

I live in NZ and try to get NZ freeview tv working on my pc.
When I use PowerCinema, I get the picture and sound. But using gbpvr has no sound. Picture are fine just sound problem.
PowerCinema keeps crashing my windows xp mce and restarts my pc. So Im trying to get gbpvr working but it seems very hard to get it right.
I am using Hauppauge WinTV-HVR4000 on windows XP Media Center 2005.
Also I have installed nvidia PureVideo decoder, Ac3 filter and WinDVD and tried different audio decoder but still no sound.
My six-year old today told me that the "box" (i.e., MVP) has funny audio. Some of his cartoons, an assortment of xvid and divx conversions of dvds, are suddenly playing back oddly: the video on the mvp is playing normally, but the audio is playing back at a high speed.
nothing has changed wrt the mvp, since installing gbpvr 1.2.9. i've not even patched any other apps or system on xp. a video (divx) that played fine a couple of days ago is exibiting the same phenomenon. not all converted videos are affected. (just went upstairs and randomly picked about 10 videos, and three played improperly. i know the've all been watched before on the mvp.)
the affected videos play fine on the gbpvr server. i am using mvpmc 0.3.4 dongle.
i've quickly searched the forums and do not see anyone with this odd experience.
