I've had this problem with stuttering because of the DirectX 9.0c version of quartz.dll since at least 2004. Is there really no official fix for this totally annoying problem? I've used the downgrading to 9.0b fix for some time but Windows Update seems to pop a buggy quartz.dll back all the time.
I've seen some ancient links to a hotfix but that was not for my Swedish XP so I could not use that. This is THE most annoying bug of all time in Windows for me. And it must be causing lots of people problems. At least all using hardware decoding. I've seen this issue pop up in forums all over the internet.
No real fix seen though.
Ive just rebuilt my pvr using vista rather than xp and am happy as evr seems better than anything under xp (including evr with .net 3.5).
I do have an issue with the gfx card though, I was using an ati 9250 and its fine under xp, I do need to run a custom res to remove ocerscan on my tv though.
Under vista there are no ctalyst drivers for this card so I cant run the cusom res so am back to having overscan again...
So Im looking to upgrade the card, I am only running freeview tuners and am in the uk so I dont have any hd content to worry about so dont need a great card.
I dont think I will need to worry about future proofing either as I dont think there will be any significant hd content for some time.
The 9250 was also fanless.. not a massive concern really as the box is in a cupboard on the otherside of a wall, so no need to be ultra quite.. in fact the cpu fan isnt great and is making more noise than a gfx card fan will do...
Heat is a bit of an issue though... the cupboard dosent have much ventillation and it does get a little warm in there... but havent had any stability issues I would put down to heat though...
So anyway I was thinking of the SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon HD 2400PRO 64bit 512MB DDR2 AGP Graphics Card , (need agp).
Its £39 in pc world...
Has anyone tried this card?
Does anyone expect me to have any issues with it under vista?
Does anyone have a better card to recommend without spending a fortune?
hi, just thought I'd post, I've been collecting some HD clips and now lately been recording some, notably Underbelly from last night as both analogue and DVB-T.
PLayed them back on me 26" sammy tv today, OMG looks really good. I have a normal tv in the lounge so hadn't really done a proper comparison before - and with the popcorn (as we call it - the wife likes the name) Its a good platform for taking to someones house to demo HD material....
I have a directory called c:\EPG\UltraXMLTV_Enhancer. In this directory I have the unzipped UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.zip package.
When I click on the UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe program, I get a an error message in a dialog box: "Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
I have tried to regsvr32 the ocx files four or five different ways. I have done it with elevated priveleges, with UAC on, and with it off.
Vista seems to have a terrible bug that prevents registering these VB6 run times. A google search turns up a zillion people having the same problem. I have now spent a good 6 hours on this particular problem.
I don't know what to do.
I have GBPVR running, I have the guide downloaded and running. It seems slow to execute and I have not learned the interface yet. I was hoping that the interface would be improved by UltraXML but I guess it won't work.

Media center remote (not functional yet in GBPVR).
I've set up my remote through USB-UIRT and it's working.
I was wondering if there was a method to rename the keys to match what's my remote has. For instance, I don't have a "Green" or "Blue" button. I had to look at the wiki documentation to see what they are supposed to do, and matched that with the keys on my remote I'd like to use for them.
It's really not a big issue, but if there's a way I can make it a bit more user-friendly I'd like to try it out.
I am trying to get gbpvr set up on a laptop as a client, and we routinely switch user accounts on the system. I am able to run the app perfectly fine on the account under which I was logged in when I installed, but the other account does not work at all, I get .net framework errors before I even get a PVRX2 window.
I recently went from a modded xbox running XBMC to a HTPC running Windows XP Pro and pvrx2. One of my favourite options with XBMC was that I could have multiple folders' contents show up as one shortcut. For example, I could create a single shortcut called "tv shows" and have the contents of both folder 1 on drive 1 and folder 2 on drive 2 show up. Is this possible with pvrx2?
Just got my HDhomerun this weekend. Live in US and the first thing I did after installing hdhomerun drivers and updating firmware was to set up tuner 0 for QAM on my cable. Things went very smoothly; modifed my Schedulesdirect account to download the unencrypted digital channel data. Remapping went surprisingly well (I think). The guide showed the proper cable channel numbers and call signs. Next I tried setting up tuner 0 for OTA use. Again, found all expected channels during scan; modified the Schedulesdirect account to download OTA broadcast channel data (noticed that the channel numbers were different than for the digital cable as expected, but the actual channel descriptions were the same ie 813 WACHDT for QAM and 19-2 WACHDT for OTA)
Pressed the Update EPG button and after this noticed that the channel list looked exactly the same as when I did the tuner 0 setup in other words there was no indication of new channels which I guess is right is some respects since the program guide would have the same information for the same station whether QAM or OTA. I was a little worried but figured the software new how to put in the correct channel numbers for the OTA stations and I went ahead and mapped the OTA channels to their respective program guide channels. So I saved the config info went into gbpvr and saw only the QAM channels still in the epg and no new channels with the OTA channel numbers as I had hoped. Also, now when I tried to view one of the digital channels, it says no signal. It worked fine before trying to add tuner 1. I am running GBPVR version 1.2.9
