watching live tv, then show must record, makes screen go blank
Posted by: Wakalaka - 2007-11-22, 06:27 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have 2 tuners in my system. Both were set to record 9-10pm. I was watching live tv at 8:59pm and then I was prompted to watch live tv or the show to record. I chose live tv, then the screen went blank (probably because no tuners were available). I exited back to the main menu, then chose Live TV, and was prompted that I could watch the 2 shows that were recording, or quit to main menu. Running v1.1.5 PVRX2.

what are the video render types for PVRX2?
Posted by: Wakalaka - 2007-11-22, 06:24 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Are there details on what each video render type is for PVRX2? I have no idea what EVR and VMR9 Exclusive Fullscreen and VMR9 Custom mean, especially in terms of why I would want to choose one over another given my system specs.

  Microsoft Sidewinder mouse rocks!
Posted by: Torque - 2007-11-22, 03:08 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

My old Microsoft Laser 6000 mouse's cord evidently kept getting caught on something or smashed repeatedly over the years and it had a bunch of the wires showing... didn't find this out till it quit last week forcing me to take a closer look at it then ultimately bringing out an old ball type mouse to use till I found a new one.

I was going to get the same mouse again since it served me pretty well, but the tracking always seemed a little off, like it was too sensitive. Discovered that there are now mice with on-the-fly tracking change features - cool.

I tried out the Logitech G5. It was comfortable on the left side of my hand but had this wierd edge on the right side that made my ring finger on that hand go numb. The on the fly tracking adjustment was really nice and had a solid feel. But there was also a wierd texture which I guess was supposed to add grip but just felt odd and really bugged me. So I took that back and picked up the new MS Sidewinder today.

It's pretty pricey for a mouse, but you can add/remove wieght to get just the right feel (like the G5 had too), the size is perfect for me, and it has the tracking adjustment changes which is sweet for turning down while doing detail work in Paintshop or cranking it up for playing games. Has a little LCD screen on it that shows the current DPI and walks you thru programming macro functions. Bling!

  System Freeze when selecting System
Posted by: TornadoTJ - 2007-11-22, 12:28 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Just upgraded to 1.1.5 last night. Was looking at all the menu seletions, when I selected System, GBPVR went into some endless loop. I could still pull up the task manager, but could not end the GBPVR task. I also could not log off or shut down the system, I had to hit the reset button. No biggie, I don't use it much, just thought you'd like to know.

Automatic playing of playlist through MVP
Posted by: hasso - 2007-11-22, 12:13 AM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (2)

Martin,
Just started tinkering with mvpmc and it's great... some really good possibilities here.

Just wondering if there was a way to automatically start playback of, or select a default MP3 playlist through the mvp?

Right now I've got a PC running basic Linux with MPD and MPC which automatically randomly plays a playlist corresponding to the day's weather forecast. Wife likes to turn on the PC in the morning and she knows what the weather will be like for the day as it starts to play random songs with "Cloudy", or "Sunny", or "Showers", or "Windy" etc in the title name. I'd like to use the PC for something else, so thought maybe mvpmc with Slimserver or similar may be able to pull off something similar. Any ideas?

  Crash during pause/rew/ff
Posted by: AmericanSlon - 2007-11-21, 11:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (16)

Hi,

I have been using gbpvr for quite a while successfully.
What I used to do is I had a pvr 150 for recieving signal from the STB and ir blaster and a pvr 350 which provided me with a video output for a regular small tv.
So now I have decided to buy a widescreen monitor to use as a tv and a new video card and generally update my pvr machine a little, which I did.
So now I have a 150 as my tuner card and a hd2400pro (factory overclocked) as an output device for the monitor/tv.

Naturally I wanted to take advantage of the all new features so I have downloaded the latest GBPVR version(I have been using one about half a year old)

I also updated the pvr 150 drivers to the latest and installed vista 32.
So after the whole set up I have the channels now and can watch and switch them etc.
However when I try to pause the screen goes black for a sec or two, then gbpvr interface shows up appearing to be paused (still black picture). Now when I click play again the application just crashes back to the main menu of PVRX2.

I am attaching the three log files that change after crash.

Thank you for the great software Sub. It has been serving me great for a while and hopefully will again Smile

Recording truncated - tuner not released
Posted by: prouton - 2007-11-21, 11:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I had a strange problem yesterday with two recordings on PVR-2 that stopped about half way through, but the PVR never released the tuners.

Two shows were scheduled to start at 13:59 (Fast Money, and Taking Stock). They would normally run through 15:01 (an hour, for the military time challenged Big Grin ), and be approximately 1.4GB in size (low quality).

What I got was the front of each show for about 20-30 minutes, and file sizes of a little under 500KB. In addition to the truncated files, the Recording Status showed the two tuners still being used for those programs at 18:10 hours! The computer had not hung up, as I was able to look at the status and poke through the drive folders without difficulty.

Now, silly me, instead of just trying to restart the Recording Service, I rebooted the computer, so the logs got chopped off at that point. The new log files pick up after the reboot.

It looks to me as if the first show was actually stopped by GBPVR, but not the second. There's still no clue why the recording files stopped growing after the first 20-30 minutes. It wasn't due to lack of space, as there is still 30GB available on the drive.

The PVR worked fine last night after the reboot, recording a different show and today recorded Fast Money and Taking Stock just fine.

What happens when Conversion Processing runs after Comskip
Posted by: jksmurf - 2007-11-21, 11:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Lets say you record an MPEG2, run comskip in postprocessing.bat, then autoconvert it overnight (to Xvid say).

Do all the comskip points remain correct?

Can't play DivX/AVI recordings on client.
Posted by: martint123 - 2007-11-21, 11:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I've been converting to DivX/AVI some recordings I want to hang onto but recover some space. GBPVR acts nice and knows the filenames have changed and updates the database.

I can play these recordings on the server and MVP but not on client machines. They play ok with VLC and WMP9.

Logs attached and any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Martin

edit:-
Started to play file at 22:20 blank screen and had to
22:21 kill with task manager
22:22 closed services to copy logs.

  Channel Changer .exe
Posted by: steviebee_uk - 2007-11-21, 09:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I am having problems getting the .exe channel changer to work. Looking at the logs the program tries to run the correct command "2007-11-21 20:57:01.655 VERBOSE [1] Running: C:\Users\MediaPC\Desktop\channel.bat 37" however the channel doesnt change. If I run "C:\Users\MediaPC\Desktop\channel.bat 37" from Start > run the channel changes ok.

Can someone help me out with this please?

Thanks

Stevie
