  Look to switch from MythTV
Posted by: blue_sassley - 2007-11-05, 08:55 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (37)

Hi everyone I'm looking into using gbpvr and replacing MythTV, the only reason really is because I need my MediaMVP to fast forward faster then 2x and I wanted to know if this is possible using the software included in gbpvr? And also how stable is gbpvr? As I love my MythTV setup very much it just is lacking on the support for my 2 MeidaMVPs.

All comments are welcome!

Thanks for your help,
Blue

  Exported recordings problem
Posted by: mpking - 2007-11-05, 07:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Maybe this is a wishlist item, maybe it's a *not expected behavoir* (bug) item.

When you export your recordings and re-import them, you lose your quality setting on scheduled recordings. (Specifically season)

This appears to be due to the fact that quality is not in the exported recordings XML. This coupled with the fact that 1.0.16 has a problem changing the quaility on season recordings makes it a little difficult to resolve.

example:

Code:
<recording> <filename>Burn Notice *</filename> <channel>35 USA</channel> <status>SEASON</status> <group>1</group> <prePadding>1</prePadding> <postPadding>1</postPadding> <startTime>0001-01-01 00:00:00</startTime> <endTime>0001-01-01 00:00:00</endTime> <maxRecordings>0</maxRecordings> <title>Burn Notice *</title> <uid>EP00924844.0010</uid> </recording>

  Dir Structure
Posted by: Smoooth - 2007-11-05, 05:26 PM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (2)

My current movie structure is:
d:\DVD\Movie Name\VIDEO_TS

The video ts directory then contains all the files for the movie
ex:
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, VTS_01_4.VOB, VTS_01_5.VOB, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO

How do I set the config manager to play these? (The regular video menu lists them as Movie Name.dvd)

  Change LiveTV Volume Keystrokes
Posted by: mototom - 2007-11-05, 05:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've search the Forum and the Wiki but cannot seem to find a keystroke combo to change volume while watching LiveTV. Since I'm watch without Windowing, I have to do a Ctrl-Esc to get the SysTray to appear then adjust volume slide.

I found the Volume OSD plug-in but it sounds like that only displays the level. Is there something like the Ctrl-X/Ctrl-Z for Music?

Thanks.

  MVP wireless DHCP
Posted by: ecltech - 2007-11-05, 04:25 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (7)

Hi all,

I have a wireless MediaMVP. I'm using a Linksys WRT-54G with DD-WRT firmware. I'm having some issues connecting the device via a wireless connection.

When I attempt to connect to the wireless network from the MVP it states it's unable to obtain a DHCP address (but it does say it's communicating with the accesspoint). I tested the MVP via a wired connection and it was able to obtain an IP, connect to GBPVR and I can view all my media.

Not sure why the wireless would be an issue. Appreciate any feedback.

Thank you.

Resolution
I needed to disable QoS and Wireless Multimedia Support in DD-WRT. Once I did that I restarted the Linksys and also restarted the MVP and was able to connect via a wireless connection. Special thanks to mvallevand and others who offered suggestions.

  Networking questions
Posted by: Rory - 2007-11-05, 04:19 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

More dumb newbie questions... I have read the FAQs and the Wiki.. :o
Is it possible to wake a computer from S3 sleep with the MVP ? Or does the GBPVR application always wake the computer ? I have an Intel Pro/100 Lan card which I have set to allow to bring the computer out of standby. The problem is unless I check the "Only allow management stations to bring the computer out of standby" the PC will never sleep, something on the network (presumably the router, or the DHCP server) keeps waking it up. The BIOS is set to WakeOnLan/PME Event and during sleep the drives are off, the fans are off, but the LAN light is on.
Also I want to be able to access files on another computer on my home network via the MVP, what is the easiest way to do this without installing another instance of GBPVR on the second PC ? So that I can navigate files with the MVP remote ? There is an explanation of how to do it in Hauppauge's MVP FAQ but not for GBPVR ?

  My New Favorite Code Snippet
Posted by: jtokach - 2007-11-05, 03:05 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

Remember freemem and similar applications? Bah, snake oil!

This procedure forces .NET to free memory from the workingset pool. I went on a witch hunt to find out why my new windows service was consuming 28 Mb of ram on start up with only a few references and a timer. I stumbled upon this which reduced the workingset to 1 Mb and sustained workingset of about 9 Mb. I put a call to it in my timer to run every 15 minutes.

http://west-wind.com/weblog/posts/240.aspx

Obviously, the performance increase isn't perceptable, but I feel better taking this to production without being accused of bloat.

Recordings Missing from Ready List after upgrade
Posted by: philtr - 2007-11-05, 01:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi I've recently upgraded to 1.0.16 from 0.99.5 (I think...) - the new interface is great!

Slight problem however - most of my recordings in the ready list are now missing. Just to give you one example: I had 25 episodes of a programme recorded, but the Ready List now just shows 4 failures (which were there before)...

The files still exist - I had a look, but I can't access them via the recordings list... Sad

I've got a complete backup and a restore point from immediately before the upgrade.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
PhilTr

Problems getting dongle to load when Wireless
Posted by: nia - 2007-11-05, 12:01 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (3)

Hi.

I got a wMVP rev 3H firmware 2.05.

It works fine wired, and fine wirelessly when the standard dongle.bin is loaded.

However, when I try to have it load mvpmc wirelessly, it gets to the logo-screen and successfullu loads the first 4 red squares, and the two first green squares. The 7th square ends up first white, then slowly alternating between white and blue, and stays stuck there forever.

Any clue?

/Niels
