Most of the posts i've checked regarding audio video sync issues seem to suggest looking into CPU power, or other running apps - but my machine is pretty much GBPVR only, and I think has plenty of power.
I only loose sync on live TV when the picture glitches - so i'm guessing the glitches are more down to hiccups in the DVBT broadcast signal rather than CPU usage. My ariel and cables are all pretty good quality, so there's nothing more I can do to improve that end of the system.
STBs tend to pixelate every now and then, but don't seem to exhibit the same loss of sync, so could GBPVR be made to handle these events better? Do the video and audio streams have seperate timestamps that could be checked by the software every now and again to bring them back into sync?
For the second week in a row, I have recorded a program. When I got to play it, the OSD show a 7 min 23 sec recording. If I just start the program, do not FF, the program will play completely. If I try to FF any, the recording gets all screwed up. Other recordings are working fine. I do not know if this is a comskip issue or what. Suggestions so it does not happen again? Suggestions to fix the recording file?
I'm confused. I searched the wiki and could not find any information that describes the purpose of the "Navigator" parameter located under the DVD & Remote tab of the Config applet. I assume it has something to do with how you control the playing of the DVD.
Here's the problem. I am trying to switch over from my DVD player to using the DVD function in GBPvr. However, when I start playing a DVD, I have no control over fast forward/rewind until all the initial info is played from the DVD. FF and RW only work once I am able to get the movie itself started.
This can take quite awile on some DVDs. Also, from what I have been able to find out, there is no way to display the top menu level of the DVD (i.e. to select a scene).
So I tried changing the Navigator parameter to something other than "DVD Navigator". Several options appear including Cyberlink DVD Navigator and Nvidia Navigator, but when I select either of these, and then try to start watching a DVD, I only get a blank screen.
I also investigated another possibility - using PowerDVD to watch the DVDs. However, due to display card limitations I need to run GBPvr in fse mode, so PowerDVD will not work while GBPvr is running.
Am I missing something here? My main goal is to watch DVDs from the DVD player in my PC, and to control it with my Fusion Remote Control (which simply changes remote control button presses with corresponding keyboard key presses). Anyone understand the purpose of the Navigator parameter?
I just downloaded gbpvr for the first time. First, my system specs:
Asus M2N Plus SLI mobo
AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.6ghz dual core
e-GeForce 7200 GS (DVI out to HDMI in on Sony tv via converter cable)
Hauppaugge 150MCE analog tuner card
Fusion 5 Lite digital HD card
2 Gigs DDR2-667 Memory
I've updated to the latest rollouts for MCE (running MCE 2005 OS)
I've installed gbpvr (latest version). I tried setting up my capture device (starting with the 150MCE). Since I have MCE running, I went with that option for the EPG and dowloaded the GUI for that. Seem to have set that up ok. But, still no channels listed when I run UPDATE EPG in the config. When I look at the XML file, I think I see why... there is nothing listed in it. I tried DOWNLOAD LISTINGS in the GUI, and it says it downloads and completes and converts it and all that, but still a 1k file with no content.
I've previously only used Fushion's HDTV app, and MCE itself, so the setup for gbpvr is confusing to me.
I'd like to setup the 150MCE and Fusion 5 Lite so I can watch and record analog, digital and HD through one media application. Is this possible? Can someone help me get this setup?
Got a strong single on the PC and running PVRX2 I get to see good Live TV too. Try this from the MVP fails. The GBPVR Status indicates its working, there is a growing file in the live folder and the menu on the PVR is suggesting its working BUT I still get NO picture.
I bought a Haup HVR-1600 and it should be here tomorrow. Anyone have any tips / suggestions / lessons learned they want to share before I install it? It will be installed in a box that already has a pvr-250 which will stay in the box.
I want to set it up so that the HVR digital side handles HD OTA and QAM stations, the pvr-250 handles all analog stations and then the analog side of the HVR handles analog stations if the pvr-250 is busy.
I think I just realized something about maxing out my ATI 2400pro. GBPVR is the only thing that maxes it out. I was thinking the card couldn't keep up with deinterlacing, Weave the gpu is around 50% and then Bob it can sit at 99.9% and cause a stutter every second.
But if I play the same recorded file in another media player, such as Windows Media Player Classic, and turning on VMR9 instead of Overlay, gpu usage is around 10%. CPU usage is within 2% or so of what GBPVR uses.
Is there a setting somewhere that GBPVR is making the video card do five times the work to play the same file? Live TV or just playing a recorded file, doesn't matter, it will use around at least 50% gpu. Using PVRx1 for overlay it does it as well. I thought maybe GBPVR is trying to accelerate the mpeg2, but the card has that turned off by default from the factory, and if it were accelerating mpeg2 the cpu usage should show some kind of change but if it does it's not noticeable.
I recently purchased a USB tv stick, the terratec hybrid xs, after reading some good reviews.
Connected it all up- ran the terratec software, the first time it started scanning it crashed about 5 minutes in. Ever since, it's been not scanning properly within the terratec software, even after re-installing. Just nothing happening when you click scan, either that or it taking an impossibly short time (about a second), after which it finds nothing. Can't pick up anything on analogue using the terratec software either, not even radio. I only live 2km away from a tv transmitter!
So I've tried to get it working with GB-PVR, it detects the card in the list under capture sources, but has the error:
"GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly and not already in use. (Reason: Failed to locate configured BDA capture device)"
when I try and 'map digital channels to EPG channels'. Shortly followed by a unhandled exception error.
I've tried on 2 different PCs, my laptop running XP SP2, and also my desktop running Vista x64, both have the same error. I've also tried both the drivers on the disk and the latest ones from the terratec website, making sure to uninstall them before re-installing. Also tried with 2 different aerials.
Logs attached.
Thanks, I hope somebody can help me with this. Help is much appreciated.
