I'm new to PVRs so sorry this is probably a stuipd problem to have but I haven't found anything on the forums that has helped yet.
I'm running WinXP, a Haupp 250, SB Live and Ti4200 on a Intel 2.8. If I run PVRX2 I get audio, if I play something back in Media Player I recorded from GB-PVR I get audio. But I don't have any audio in GB-PVR when watching live TV or playing back one of the recorded shows (that I've played in Media Player and know there's audio).
I'm guessing it's the audio codec......but I don't know what I'm missing to install or I have yet to set the correct options in the config.
so i've been tpying around with this for well since 1.0.16 was released. Its more just an annoyance than anything but its time to figure it out (im in the fix things mood)
pretty much i don't get any sound when watching live tv on my second monitor. however recording the show and viewing while it is recording works just fine and i get sound. i get sound with video's from recordings as well as from dvd's
I've tried all the different codecs i have which are just the nvidia motherboard ones.
my system is Asus A8N Premiun, 4400+ AMD, 7900 gtx, 2 gigs ram
I am having trouble playing a movie I recorded. It happened yesterday as well, but I wrote it off. Today I checked the logs and there is an error in them.

The file won't play with Windows Media Player. It does play with VLC, but the sound is behind the picture. I tried setting different decoders, but no luck
but it doesn't tell me what all the buttons do as a default.
Anyway, once I know what every button does I would like to do the following:
1) Change the aspect ratio with remote
2) close current window with remote (keybord Alt+F4)
The reason for #2 is I am going go add a plugin to Open up IE to my homepage, so I can check real quick and then close with the remote.
After much testing I believe I have found a bug which causes problems with File Sharing and files that are growing in size (ie being recorded).
I have been having a program with my setup here (which has a server and 4 client systems, all XP Pro systems except one Vista client). Basically when you are using the File Sharing method to stream files across the network, recordings which are currently being recorded as well as live tv stutter horribly. After reading the forum posts it seems many people are having the same issue. I want to use File Sharing because it seeks much faster than Streaming.
I decided to investigate and narrow down the issue as much as possible.
I have tried many codecs (NVIDIA, Cyberlink, DScaler) and all have the same problem. On the other hand VLC works fine on the same file. CPU usage is low during the stuttering.
This issue occurs with both an analog card and DVB.
Interest to note that I believe this is a client issue. I say this because if I go into Video Library and play a file which is currently being recorded though there (from PVR software which isn't GBPVR) I get the exact same stuttering. When I stop the recording and play the file again GBPVR plays it normally.
Of further interest, if the recording is happening on a Linux server then GBPVR can play the file back fine, but it does not detect that the file is still growing and cuts off after it thinks it reaches the end of the file (which would have been the end of the file when the playback began). It's likely the Linux server is not telling the Windows system of the changing file size.
Further information, if you set the server to store it's files on a remote system then you get the same stuttering even when played back on the server itself.
With the information above I believe the issue is in the way the GBPVR handles growing files over the network.
Maybe if GBPVR limited how often is recalculated the playtime this issue will be solved?
I am happy to provide more information here if needed. Sorry for the long post but this is the one and only issue I am having with GBPVR, otherwise it is a fantastive piece of software.
I am currently running v1.0.16. When I built the pvr over a year ago, I noticed that everything worked fine with VMR9 except I could not see the DVD menu highlights. The server has an ATI X700 Pro video adapter, and I am running the fairly current version of the ATI Catalyst drivers. I've updated the ATI drivers several time, and I have used the Omega drivers at various times as well. I am also using the retail Intervideo codec. The results were/are always the same. When I was running GBPVR.exe, I just set the video renderer to Overlay and the DVD menu highlights were available. Now that I'm using PVRX2.exe, the DVD menu highlights are gone. I believe that I read somewhere on the forum that the new UI has to use VMR9. Does anyone know how I can get the menu highlights to work. It's kind of frustrating when you don't know what option you are selectiong. The WAF is down a little.
I wonder if it is possible to view the output that is beeing shown on the MVP locally?
I think I read about the Hauppauge software doing this but I have not seen anything about GBPVR beeing able to do this.
The reason I ask is that I have been thinking about having a laptop in the car running GBPVR with two MVP with LCD monitors (about 7") for the kids to view movies and listen to music. If it was possible to view (and perhaps remote-control) the passenger in the front seat could perhaps help the kids (4 and 7 years old) selecting correct video or MP3 (the 4 year old cannot read). Not a major issue but a nice to have feature.
i used zap2it because it was free and worked great on the old version. But now on this new version it doesn't seeem to be working. I dont want to have to pay every 3 months to get a subscritption for the tv lineup, thats why i'm didn't go with a tivo. Anyway to get the zap2it to work again?
I think a nice enhancement would be to allow a single key jump to the alpha part of the video list from a keyboard.
I use a wireless keyboard. For what is starting to be a fairly long list of videos on the screen, it would be nice if when I push the "x" (or whatever) key, the selected video would jump to the first title that starts with that letter instead of having to scroll down through the entire list to get to "Zebras Habitats of Nebraska".
