I'm totally new to GB-PVR having been recommended it by a colleague who suggested it would be an end to my DVR-MS transcoding woes.
My Setup
2x Twinhan DVB-T 3054 PCI cards
Win XP MCE 2005
UK Freeview, Southern England, Crystal Palace
GB-PVR 1.08
MCE uses both cards fine, and finds all of the Freeview channels.
I installed the GB-PVR app as defined on the site, with no plugins and when running the config app set the option to only display DVB cards that the software finds - it correctly identified the Twinhan 3054s. When I try to scan it goes through, displaying 1 of 7 etc messages, and showing values of strength around 65% and quality >95% - although the little preview screen stays black throughout. At the end, it reports no channels found. I've re-run this quite a few times now to no avail. Had a good look in the forum, and the only things I have been able to find dates back a year or so along the lines of adding <BDAScanType>2</BDAScanType> to config.xml but this made no difference. I noticed that this node was not actually in my XML in the first place - so has this been deprecated?
Does anyone have any ideas? I am sure I have probably just done something daft but can't for the life of me figure it out!
Pic = 1000 words ... order of the Autosearch does not seem chronological?
Does it list in order of Search, then date numbering as if this was a file, rather than actual date?
I should note that the last entry attached itself at the bottom after I force-updated the EPG as my TVXB scraper missed that (earlier) schedule for some reason..
Anybody have suggestions on what I should be looking at to troubleshoot why my nightly scheduled conversion to divx stopped working? I can manually transcode from the video library, but the scheduled conversion no longer seems to kick off.
Nearly done, I think. Just 2 or three problems and then maybe the wife will stop ear bashing.
1. this is the most important, i have 2 cards 1 nova s-plus and 1 PVR150MCE, both work, both tuned, (all good). But when i record from freeview i'm having real trouble then watching another channel on the PVR150. i.e +CH or -CH won't work if i have to go through 2/3 channels before i hit a chennel on the other card. (i'm recording and so won't let me switch)
This HTPC is not connect to the internet so i have no EPG for the PVR150 channels, if i go to the guide the channels are blank and scrolling up and down doesn't indicate which channel i'm on, so this becomes a bit hit and miss. just entering the channel No. doesn't work either (although it does if i'm NOT recording). Is there any other way of changing channel.
2. I have the huappauge 45 button remote and have set my machine to hibernate when the power button is pressed on the front of the box. On resume from hibernation the remote will not work for about 20-30sec then kick into life.
Why the delay and is there a way to remove it.
3. Has anyone got an easy way to burn dvds of recordings, i've read about show burner but it doesn't support PAL.
4. Lastly, honest . If GBPVR crashes or hangs or the remote won't respond what methods sre available to recover if i don't want to have a keyboard and mouse connected. I'm trying to make this into a stand alone PVR/HTPC for the family.
I thought I would start a separate thread for this free XMLTV EPG scraper, as I believe a few other GBPVR users have tried this little utility. Some additional work is required to get it to work better with GBPVR.
First a few good points -
- It is free
- Does not required MCE or VISTA
- Supports Canadian users - including OTA & ExpressVu & Starchoice
Now a problem I am having
I can download program listings through the utility, and set the EPG source in config.
But in the GBPVR TV guide I can see all the channels - but the message (no show details) are displayed for every time slot. But I do see program/TV show details in the generated XML file.
After talking with drlava, it may be that gbpvr dosen't read in more than one <display-name> tag per channel. Or where GBPVR gets the channel number from - the ID, or the first <display-name> tag.
So there are a few questions that I am sure others here will be interested in helping out with.
I think scheduling recordings using the Search feature of PVRX2 is broke.
Tonite I tried to schedule a recording (Nascar Racing, 12:00PM on Sunday 8/5) from the Search feature (went into TV Guide, then clicked Guide button on remote).
I first chose daily season recording. Never got an conflict message or anything. Backed out of the search function to TV Guide and noticed 9 News was recording at the moment??? Went back to recordings and saw that Nascar wasn't scheduled to record on Sunday in the Pending section. Go back into Search and try to schedule it again. This time chose weekly timeslot season recording. Go back to Recordings, Pending section and notice that 9 news is now recording on both tuners! Still Nascar isn't set to record.
Go to recurring recordings and see daily and weekly are there.
Thought maybe this was the recording screen update issue a few of us are having so I exited PVRX2 and zipped up the current logs. Restarted PVRX2, still no pending on Sunday, so I deleted both daily & weekly recurring entries.
Went to just the TV guide and skipped ahead a few days and chose to record there and everything was fine.
In the log files, are the -1, -2, -3 the log files from the previous instances of running the app? If so, i'll attach my last set of logs i've zipped up.
My EPG went down so I had to a manual recording. Using 1.08 got to the part where you can change the programme name (the channel prefix is usually prepopulated) and found I could not edit the field at all. This is using pvrx2. Anybody else experiencing this?
