Welp, that sucks, as I just bought a brand new OEM from a buddy of mine, and it looks like I wont be able to use it in my mediacentre of choice. I've spent a week with MediaPortal and a week with gbpvr and decided I liked gbpvr much better. Easier to configure IMO.
The plugin used to allow unsupported cards is no longer supported I see? Are there any other options available to getting this card to work?
BTW, first post, and looks like a great forum.
Also, what would be some recommendations for tuner cards? I would like to be able to record and watch two different channels with one card, but is the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 500 really the only one available? I want a single card because I want to keep my HTPC an extremely small formfactor.
Can I start by complementing sub on the quality of gbpvr, and especially the ease of setup. As a former mythtv user, I cannot believe how quickly I got things up and running with gbpvr. Also, I want to say how great this forum is, I see nothing but people being helpful and no newbie bashing, which I sometimes found on linux forums when trying to get myth working.
Anyway, I have a small question about the radio times xmltv feed for UK users. I know that the feed should have film ratings, and indeed my mythtv setup used to pull these down. It was a fantastic help in working out which films were worth watching. I have found the setting in xmltvgui to "add star rating" on post processing, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything, although I know the post processing is working OK because it adds the "Film:" prefix fine. Does anyone have a similar problem, or know how I can get these ratings included?
Hi there. First time HTPC builder here, using GBPVR because it appears to be the best and least flaky of the free PVR softwares My problem is ugly quality from the PVR-500.
I am using a new PVR-500 on an Athlon 2500+ system outputting to an older 32" CRT. I'm testing the cable quality by moving the cable back and forth from the TV to the computer that outputs to the TV via S-video.
The computer video output from DVD or other high quality source looks great.
But the cable video output from the PVR-500 looks worse than the cable video output from the the tuner built into the TV. It looks more blurry and appears to run at a different frame rate.
Is this normal? Is the quality of PC TV tuners still not as good as tuners built into televisions?
Or is there something I need to tweak? Like the cable quality in my house, or the drivers for the card, or something else?
I tried the beta and normal drivers on the website. I tried changing the temporal feature with a hauppauge tweak tool, but it either made things too blurry or too low framerate.
I recently swapped a 400W in my 1.2GHz, 4 Hard Drive, 2 Optical Drive, USB Card, Video Card, Network Card, Sound Card, PVR150-Card, PIII 512MB Ram GBPVR system, for a newer (quieter) 300W one I had spare. I no longer have the old one.
I am not sure if the reason was the swap, but if I now open say 5~6 GBPVR forums Tabs in IE, Process Explorer gets stuck on 100% CPU utilisation. I can't find a definitive google answer although there is some suggestion that WYSIWYG forums use a lot of Java and CPU?
Should 300W be OK for this system? I also have a USB-UIRT, USB Mouse and KB, 2xUSB Hubs (1 Powered, 1 not).
Using EWA build 62. When I try to record something in a slot where a recording is already lined up, I just get the message "recording failed." I would like to be able to get the option of canceling the previous recording in favor of the new one.
hey... i'm using zap2it with brighthouse networks in birmingham, alabama and my channel order is all out of whack in my tv guide (and when i use channel up/down when watching live tv).
most of it is okay.... but forwhatever reason channel 12 is stuck at the very beginning and a few other channels are swapped around. i've downloaded the zap2it program listings several times and every time the order is slightly jumbled.
I need some help here. I've installed the 1600 card and after boot up I followed the instructions to install the cd and then ran the setup.exe.
Now when I go into gbpvr config to add it I get 4 tuners identified.
I've selected either of the last 2 and get the warning about the driver not being installed.
I am running out of room on my HTPC hard drive, and for a number of reasons do not wish to set up a RAID array.
All I need to do is move a bunch of current recordings to an alternate storage location, preferably without destroying the GB-PVR program database in the process.
I have performed some experiments on my 0.99.12 platform and verified that I can move a recording to a different drive WITHOUT destroying the program info as long as I manually update the corresponding SQLite cell to point directly to the new location.
Obviously I don't want to manually modify some multi-hundred recordings. Does any current plugin come close? If not, I might have to dust off my old Visual Studio skills...
Should diseqc work with the Technotrend budget pci dvb-s card? I see that the Nova-S has support for diseqc and they are very similar cards. Would I have to try the Nova driver to get it to work?
